Thinking of all those involved--commuters, police, firemen, and emergency crews. Stay strong NYC.

Do the cops really need to be wearing full fledged combat gear on civilian streets?

In this day and age, yes. You'll see the same in London, Paris, Brussels, NY and other "vibrant" Western cities.

Just more proof that Trump is right when he says “chain migration” has to go.

Just more proof that Trump is right when he says “chain migration” has to go.

He's right but he banned wrong countries, most terrorists are from countries such as Saudi and Pakistan.

Saudi can do whatever they want because they control the oil market.

Hope the guy doesn’t die. I hope he lives the rest of his life in prison where he can die slowly of natural causes, thinking, contemplating and knowing the fact that he failed and failed miserably, martyrdom denied. More reason why we need to get rid of chain migration.

I hope the guy is suffering. Glad it was just 4 hurt, could've been much worse.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@NorthernLife - you beat me to it. Considering the environment these guys are working in they are appropriately dressed. If I were in their shoes I would want anything on my body that could potentially deflect or stop any shrapnel from a potential bomb (which this guy had).

Thoughts and prayers.

Moving on.

his was farcical, to say the least. Pure "Four Lions" style incompetence. The eejit ended up being the worst injured. Not to laugh at those caught up in the scare; indeed - pipe bombs can cause a lot of damage and loss of life. And the fear factor must have been something for the commuters.

This is not emotionally driven at all.

Extra! Extra! Read all

about "chain migration" here!

Yes.

Aside from the Jerusalem business, it’s also worth remembering this time of year is also the season to be not so jolly for some jihadis. Last year’s filth at the Christmas market was a reminder.

Stay safe folks.

The NYPD standing counterterrorism force or critical response unit was formed after the Mumbai and Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris to respond to situations where there were multiple locations and multiple shooters. These are not the gear of plainclothes officers walking down the street trying to blend into their surroundings. The department simply found that trying to mobilize and equip officers from various precincts and various bureaus and units was time inefficient and that they needed a more heavily armed and armored regiment equipped and ready to respond to terrorist and active-shooter attacks..

It’s not, quite the contrary. I’m just happy he didn’t die now he can rot in a cell slowly.

It should read "zip ties", never heard of "zip tires", spell check won't catch incorrect words spelled correctly

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Ban Bangladeshis tomorrow. And Sri Lankans too, they look about the same don't they? Might as well throw the entire sub-continent in there while you're at it. Keep banning entire nations as each incident arises, whack-a-mole style. Would that work?

If a Saudi mole pops up, tickle it under the chin, do a dance with it and make a gushing speech.

Such people (not making sweeping remarks on any nationality, here) make me genuinely sad. He moved to the US, surely in pursuit of a better life. And the hand that feeds you ....... you don’t bite it. Shame on this guy.

Change zip tires to zip ties, there's no such thing as zip tires

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Do the cops really need to be wearing full fledged combat gear on civilian streets?

Ordinary beat cops, no. Counter-terrorism police units, yes.

You know how you can tell which is which? The counter-terrorism police units have uniforms that read "Counter-terrorism unit," just like in the photo.

What country are you speaking on behalf of?

This was farcical, to say the least. Pure "Four Lions" style incompetence. The eejit ended up being the worst injured. Not to laugh at those caught up in the scare; indeed - pipe bombs can cause a lot of damage and loss of life. And the fear factor must have been something for the commuters.

no deaths, so all is good. Nothing to see here. As SuperLib says;

”Moving on”

id normally call this whitewashing and defection unbelievable. But sadly it’s expected now.

Cracaphat- it is a textbook terrorist attack. The success - or lack thereof - is irrelevant.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

it's a mental health issue. Moving on.

Why is the moderation here protecting Dango bong's explicit racism?

And while Trump KNEW about this he was busy using his little hands to tweet about the media instead of this. Shows you his priorities. Glad this didn't go as the bomber had planned and they got him.

And while Trump KNEW about this he was busy using his little hands to tweet about the media instead of this.

Trump knew the attack was going to happen?

Shows you his priorities.

Forget him, how about jumping on the chain migration policy that should be eliminated.

Glad this didn't go as the bomber had planned and they got him.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Don't like this? Then stop bombing muslims and screwing up the Middle East with your proxy Israel.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

id normally call this whitewashing and defection unbelievable

Is that what you would normally do? I'd be curious to know how this amounts to a defection? Who was defecting and how?

Michael Sandford tried to assasinate Trump, failed and served just 5 months. Where was the outrage and calls for British people to be banned from travelling to the US?

This Ullah fool tried to kill people, failed and I imagine he won't be serving just 5 months. His idiocy will fuel the ongoing narrative and racism against people from countries that don't fit with the current outlook.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Russia secured Syria from USA proxy sdf, al nusa, and IS and other terror threats. America needs to scare people into excepting it is not a safe world. Some failed unemployed loser managed to bring all American MSM to a standstill. Exciting breaking news. Now trump says that families of Americans who are Muslim should be banned.

btw. 58,811 gun incidents in USA in 2016. Less tan 2% were Islamic related attacks resulting in death.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Yeah it’s not like we can hold extremists accountable for their own violent actions. We should simply tiptoe around and don’t make any decisions beneficial for us but that might upset them in any way. sarcasm off

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Don't like this? Then stop bombing muslims ....

You mean those airstrikes against ISIS? If those didnt happen, the Yazidis would be an extinct group today. And the Shiite population would be a fraction of what it is now.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Yeah it’s not like we can hold extremists accountable for their own violent actions.

Uhh, what? We let extremists who bomb Americans go free? What country do you live in?

Ohh I know, the country were every bombing or extremist attack is an unexpected national tragedy because a deep seeded liberal agenda to destroy America is being perpetrated by a deep state. And, actual massacres by Americans with legally acquired assault rifles are an isolated incident and somehow is an expression of freedom.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

when this guy is patched up, and gets taken to court, he will probably get sent to jail for a long long long long time, needless to say his time in prison will be a happy one, as the inmates will like to say hello, and welcome to him.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

No I’m saying “how will radical Islamic terrorists” feel about what is in our best interests to do shouldn’t be part of the decision process.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

How could this guy afford to fly back to Bangladesh in September? Sounds like he prefers to be back home, rather than further relying on the US taxpayer for the rest of his life. No need to lash him as he has done that to himself already.

Or would he like chain-gang time, doing useful work on the roads for example?

And I bet the Muslim and more particularly the Bangladeshi population of the US would be really happy to get their hands on this guy for again screwing things up for them too. In Japan his actions would be called 迷惑行為 meiwaku ko-i.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Don't like this? Then stop bombing muslims and screwing up the Middle East with your proxy Israel.

I agree on staying out of these countries.

I’m not so sure that’s all the extremists want. Helping oppressed people like the people of East Timor achieve independence from Indonesia caused jihadist attacks on innocents and the assassination of a highly respected UN envoy, A novel caused murders, riots, protests in London, never mind Tehran, calling for the murder of a writer and a death sentence from the ‘spiritual’ leader of Iran. A series of cartoons saw more bloodletting including a massacre with military grade weapons in a European city.

I agree with staying out of the Middle East although JeffLee’s point about stopping the likes of ISIS butchering other Muslims among others is worth considering. I just don’t think the extremists’ demands are so one-dimensional.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Let's do nothing to address the problem and just wait for the next incident, then do nothing again.

Thoughts and prayers. Moving on.
