I always thought that Trump should not only have apologized, but, as one of the biggest private employers in the city, with lots of jobs that didn't require a degree, should have hired all five of the kids immediately. But Trump has no heart, no conscience, no integrity. And he's a racist.

After they were exonerated, Trump, instead of apologizing for his full-page ad, said they should be executed anyway, because they must have done something wrong at some time.

The hair & semen samples found on her body did not match any of the DNA of the five teenagers tried for the rape and attack, but both hair & semen had matching DNA for one & only one individual, the convicted serial rapist & murderer Matias Reyes. His confession coupled with that evidence exonerated the Central Park Five.

Why is he racist?

Another real-life situation President Dump got wrong!

Donald Trump and the Central Park Five: the racially charged rise of a demagogue

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/17/central-park-five-donald-trump-jogger-rape-case-new-york

Two-years before the president began to lose 1 billion dollars (the most any American business man has personally lost in history), he took out front page ads in New York newspapers claiming the five young men were guilty before they were tried in court. He personally tried to ruin these innocent men's lives.

He is such a loser!

as a Netflix documentary sheds renewed light on their ordeal.

Netflix has realized there’s money in SJW themes.

“When Donald Trump” “calling for our execution, he placed a bounty on our heads,"

Trump said/wrote no such thing, and the insinuation is just fake news.

There was no specific mention of this attack in the ad, and there were a lot of attacks that night. The attack on this lady was not an isolated incident that night.

Some of the 30 teenagers attacked and beat people as they moved south, on the park's East Drive and the 97th Street transverse, between 9 pm and 10 pm.[4] Within the North Woods, between 102nd and 105th streets, they attacked several bicyclists, hurled rocks at a cab, and attacked a pedestrian, whom they robbed and left unconscious.[4][10] A schoolteacher out for a run was severely beaten and kicked, between 9:40 and 9:50.[4] He was hit in the back of the head with a pipe and stick, knocking him briefly unconscious.[4][11][10][12] A police officer testified that the teacher was bleeding so badly he "looked like he was dunked in a bucket of blood".[13]

The Armstrong Report

In 2002, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly commissioned a panel of three lawyers to review the case.[64] The panel was made up of two lawyers, Michael F. Armstrong, the former chief counsel to the Knapp Commission, and Jules Martin, a New York University Vice President, as well as Stephen Hammerman, deputy police commissioner for legal affairs.[39][64][65][66][67] The panel issued a 43-page report in January 2003.[64]

Armstrongs conclusion

"It seems impossible to say that they weren't there at all, because they knew too much," Armstrong said in an interview.

It's telling how the anti-Trump media have to go back 30 years to dig for something to hit him with.

Even if Trump had remained silent back then, the public outrage against these guys (which, it turns out, was misplaced) would have been sky-high anyway.

Let's be honest -- seeking justice here is not the main purpose, because it's already been obtained. These men were exonerated and were freed. They were also handsomely compensated for their false imprisonment.

No, this is being dredged up again for one reason alone -- for political purposes.

Meanwhile, Trump just struck a deal with Mexico whereby they will do more to stem illegal immigration from their country. For his part, Trump has agreed to drop those tariffs. At least for now.

And what has Japan Today reported about this? Not a peep. Total crickets.

So it's very easy to see where the political bias lies here.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

@silverfan

why don’t you read the ad yourself and try to find how Trump implicated any individual, instead of copy/paste insane Social justice propaganda.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

No THIS will really get under Trump's extremely thin skin! I bet very soon we'll get a comment from him saying he still thinks they did it.

Netflix has realized there’s money in SJW themes.

Um, yeah, because people want a society of equal opportunity. The majority of people swing left on social issues.

Remember, the right have only won the popular vote once in the past 20 years. The people are not right. The American system is broken, and therefore a minority have snagged power.

There is money there because these are issues people care about. That's how capitalism works.

This is a very sick, sick, SICK man. Trump must have been brought up on generous helpings of hatred, racism, jealousy, dishonesty, malice, misogyny, and general misery and cruelty. I have RARELY seen people as despicable as trump, and the rest of the racist, sadistic, corrupt, malicious gop. In my lifetime I have never seen politicians as reprehensible and foul. At times, I have thought that certain politicians were just awful, but they cannot hold a candle to this cabal of filthy liars and low life criminals. There is just no comparison. Yes, this gop takes the cake!

4 ( +10 / -6 )

But still Totally his fault.

Um, what?

Where did you come up with that?

Are you even commenting on the right story? No one has claimed that.

We're just pointing out how his actions were despicable. Don't you think they were? Or do you think his actions towards these kids were appropriate?

Did I misread the headline?

Central Park Five' accuse Trump

Um, yeah:

Five men wrongfully convicted for the 1989 rape of a New York jogger accused President Donald Trump on Friday of putting "a bounty on our heads," as a Netflix documentary sheds renewed light on their ordeal.

Duh

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Was this around the time of the “super predator” comments that someone else made that liberals defend as being perfectly fine?

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

Did he put a “bounty on their heads”? I mean did he he offer someone money to capture or kill them or is this just hyperbole to stoke public rage?

Did Trump also own the newspaper that put their pictures, names and addresses?

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

Trump's actions relative to these guys are part of the reason why New York City rejected him 90% to 10%. Trump insisted that they should be in prison, even when scientific evidence proved their innocence.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

netflix is a democratic arm with a member of the FCR on its board.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I guess whichever side of the fence you stand on, you'll find something to justify your view over those on the other side. This is sadly the current situation in the US. American Politics needs more diversity than simply being forced to associate with Democrats (North) or Republicans (South)... even those party names sound like an association of sides during the 1861-65 Civil War.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump was wrong.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Despite dramatic holes in the case against them and no DNA match from the crime scene, all five were convicted

The prosecutors should have been prosecuted.

"When Donald Trump took out that full page ad in New York city newspapers calling for our execution

Trump called for the death penalty for all murderers, not specifically these guys. A whole lotta people have called for the death penalty and most of them are not racists.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Trump called for the death penalty for all murderers, not specifically these guys.

But obviously including these guys.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Guilt by Accusation is now a very popular pastime. Those convicted, however wrongly, should vent their animosity toward the legal system that produced the conviction.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Imagine of being accused of a crime you didn't commit and some rich racist guy puts out an ad trying to get you convicted.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

The fact is, even though Trump is not the prosecutors in the case, he did intentionally pour fuel on the fire.

It's called being an instigator. As in, pushing harder to incense people to not think clearly and encourage even more reactionary judgment without properly knowing the facts by paying for media to put things on the front page? Smells like textbook persecution to me.

The past comes to haunt everyone no matter how small.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

I remember the 80s though. I was getting hit with racist "ideals" from both sides as a young teen. Either be called the n-word by some random idiot coward driving by in a car (they were ALWAYS in a car), or be called "acting 'white'" if I was skateboarding or using my inline skates at the time... People just couldn't let people be themselves. The thought was everyone had to conform to some specific ideal of what they perceived to be another person's ethnic identity. Pathetic times then and too many people in the US are trying to regress our country to those pathetic times now.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Hmmm. Seems like reading comprehension is not the forte for many of the JT posters. No where in Trump's letter did he advocate for the execution of the Central Park Five. Although there was a miscarriage of justice in this case, Trump skillfully advocated for NY to reinstate the death penalty for heinous crimes and give back to the police the ability to investigate such crime irrespective of the perpetrator's race. Thanks to tough law enforcement policies of Mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg NYC is a much safer city -- unfortunately De Blasio has reversed most of the polices of his predecessors.

Trump skillfully advocated for NY to reinstate the death penalty

Don’t do that. I honestly just burst out laughing on the Shinkansen.

That is a beauty.

My son attended college in New York. He told me that races basically get along but don't mix much. I noticed that when I visited for his graduation. it was quite different from my hometown, LA, which has its own problems but is much more integrated. Trump beares the fáult for this travesty of justice.

Boy, Hollywood once again trying to cash in. I remember the case all too well. Netflix is once again creating its very own universal reality narrative, milking it for what it’s worth. shame on them.

Despite dramatic holes in the case against them and no DNA match from the crime scene, all five were convicted

The prosecutors should have been prosecuted.

"When Donald Trump took out that full page ad in New York city newspapers calling for our execution

I agree.

Laguna: And now you are saying Trump was the prosecutor in this case? If you haven't heard, she got what was due to her for bungling the case.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Um, yeah, because people want a society of equal opportunity.

No you don't! You want equal outcome!

Some do.

You really should stop applying all of the silly generalizations made by idiots to people you don’t know.

I know it makes thinking easier but it is corrosive.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Just what I expected. Still people finding a way to clean Trump in such an obvious horrible spoiled racist children behaviour.

Bass:. There is zero evidence or Trump being a racist

Refusing to rent to black people because of the color of their skin would be evidence of racism.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Rather than racism I suspect that Trump's shocking self-promoting full-page intervention in the 1989 rape scandal must have been motivated by the same willful man-child's needy hunger for attention that drove him to seek the presidency. As in the prior case he will be proved wrong and regret his sick attention-seeking impulses that propelled him into an office for which he is manifestly most ill-suited. It is ironic that as a mere N.Y. real-estate hustler his disgraceful role and shameful contribution to the 1989 travesty of justice would have been as forgettable as his petty wheeling and dealing life, but now as POTUS he owns the disgrace and odium for all time since it will be entered into the historical record of a fully-examined life as an indelible, egregious stain on his character and reputation.

Back in the 1970s, from sociology college classes I was taking, I become aware of the extreme bias in our justice system against blacks & people of color. Even though it was well-documented, nothing seemed to change much.

What happened to these boys in 1989 is a case in point. During the 2016 election cycle, this was only one of many reasons for American voters to not consider voting for Donald Trump: his racism & nastiness & disregard for the truth were on clear display in regard to these teen-age boys of color.
