Two bad cases of fraud I came across were Alex Jones selling anti-Covid-19 toothpaste and some religious crackpots claiming to heal and protect people through prayer.

Televangelists, Alex Jones plus China, North Korea and Russia

China, North Korea and Russia have been seen sending out spear phishing emails trying to find routes onto business networks.

Appreciate the link. It’s great that NYU put this out. More greatness from a liberal institution!

I like how NYU gave students, faculty, and staff a general warning about possible scams during national disasters in general. They not only send the alert for coronavirus but for all national disasters.

It isn't really the same as the specific examples that I listed, though,

I won’t be surprised if here in Japan we see people showing up on our doorsteps claiming to be sent by city hall or such to disinfect our homes. And then stealing whatever they can find while inside or trying to charge a “government mandated fee” for their “services.” Watch out for your elderly relatives and neighbors who would be easy prey for this type of scam

I don’t think that’s far fetched at all. Japan has had its share of scammers and phone solicitors for years, so as this crisis drags on, it’s just a matter of time before these people come up with a scheme to scam innocent people.

Japan has said everything is in control. Our numbers are not increasing. Go enjoy hanami and don't panic buy food. That's criminal, imo!

Yes, let’s just play Russian roulette because the government said, it’s ok. Sounds smart to me.

The numbers are not increasing? Is that why 40+ new cases have been popping up each day over the past week in Tokyo alone?

This is the sort of stuff that sickens me. Social media being used to create "Challenges" for weak minded people to follow... which like lemmings they do.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/coronavirus/video-2137904/Video-Man-licks-toilet-bowl-coronavirus-challenge-TikTok.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ito=1490&ns_campaign=1490

The Purposely Coughing on other people is also (apparently) another aspect of one of those Social Media Challenges.

This is the depraved side of Society... and what's troubling are those who actually think it's great to "Follow" and "Do"... Sick.
