Well, I'm sure some would love it.

Maybe next we start crucifying people again !

Dictatoritis is spreading like a wildfire.

Cutting of the hands wouldn't solve the underlying problem and reason why people are committing these crimes. Figure that out first before uttering such barbaric nonsense.

This is a good idea. More countries need to adapt such an attitude.

Anything to break the hold of the current kleptocracy that has been running Mexico for three decades or more. Instead of hands, how about death penalty for the drug lords and their henchmen? Securing their northern border to prevent both people and narcotics from leaving their country?

The only reason Mexico hasn't had another revolution in the past quarter century is that they were able to siphon off their excess population to the US, and at the same time benefit from cash sent home by their citizens abroad. If Mexico had to actually care for ALL it's people, the place would be in even worse shape than it is now.

What's wrong with that? It sounds fair enough to me. He should go one step further for rapists to have a different part of their body cut off. Obviously fines and prison terms are not a deterrent. However, I'm sure that having appendages lopped off would be a very strong deterrent.

thieves are motivated by desperation, they need forced labor training and a job. repeat rapist need a certain operation. murderers need to put on an island and forced to pedal exercycles for the rest of their lives and generate electricity. cutting off hands is medieval.

More reason why the US needs that wall.

"Some thieves are motivated by desperation." There, fixed that for you, Goodluck.

The great George Carlin had a few words to say on this...

Given the state of Crime in Mexico, it's with little wonder we hear of Political crackpots proposing draconian style punishment for the lesser crimes... perhaps he should have focused more upon the corrupt police, and drug related crimes ? But I guess had he said that about them, then he may become a target himself.

Works for the arabs but it does only because of their tradition of eating from the communal food pot with the Clean Hand. With but one hand, all doubt has been removed. An incredible twist on - Shaming - indeed.

Sharia law in Mexico? What next... stoning women who think for themselves?

Mexican here, it's true is a candidate known as "El bronco" he said other stupid things like he believes so much in the institution of marriage that he has been married 3 times, thankfully he will only get like 3% of the votes

Jaime Rodriguez is another wealthy Mexican politician out of touch with the Devastating poverty in his own country. People steal to survive in his country, not for personal gain. We all have our share of educated illiterate potation !!!

Is he gonna set an example by amputating his own thieving hands? he has been stealing from the public from the day he started as an independent governor.

He is a disgrace, I'm sure most of the people who voted his barbaric ass into office have regretted it; he has cynically shown to be more corrupt than the already corrupt older parties, which is on its own quite the statement.

The sad part is, Mexicans don't have much of a choice, most of the candidates are quite horrible this time, but bronco does a great job making them all look better.
