these guys are total morons - assaulting someone in broad daylight while being filmed - have fun in jail.

Thugs that think violence makes them right should be caught and punished to make an example, you can disagree as much as you want about important things like how the pandemic is fought, but that is not an excuse to behave violently.

Verbal abuse is one thing, but assault?

The joys of populism. Nice one, BoJo.

Ah. My country of birth, giving a good account of itself as usual. (Seems like adding a roll-eye smiley face causes an error message, but it should be clear that I’m being sarcastic).

Hope they throw the book at them.

This is what happens when you live in a society where people choose to trust populist politicians, pundits and other various idiots without any scientific knowledge over actual scientists.

While we're talking of BoJo and violence:

No one has been arrested, despite these violent thugs being caught on camera. Whitty has been a target of abuse for over a year now, groups of them even gather outside his home shouting abuse and harassing his family. The only punishment anyone has received was when the mother of one teenage abuser took away her son’s Play Station and publicly shamed him. Why Professor Whitty and others in his position have not been given protection and their abusers arrested, I do not know. Scientists being attacked for their work is scary.

The rights to freedom of assembly, the right to petition ones government for the redress of grievances and freedom of expression bump up against the rights of a family to be safe in their home. No easy answers.

Whitty’s father was dragged from his car and murdered by terrorists in Athens, can you imagine how he gelt when those men surrounded him.
