That statement is TWISTED by the MEDIA. If you will replay the whole video, the president was talking about the "LEFTIST" or rebels, e.g. NPA, who is taking advantage of the situation to hopefully bring down the popularity of Duterte here. They even used some paid protesters. Of course, they knew they were going to be jailed of some sort because they are violating the lock down and social distancing. Using hunger as their trigger. They are baiting for an oppressive action and then build up on it using media.

And your article does not mention the word "leftist" at all. Same media bias as well? Why don't you post the entire speech verbatim???

Reuters sensationalism strikes again.

So belief everything the media tells us RIGHT ?

Make your own conclusions on the news disinformation or misinformation we get served, or is it just Fake News !

"Is that understood? Dead. Instead of causing trouble, I will bury you."

That is one way to handle it. Reminds me of my old alcoholic uncle who used to say such things.

Title so misleading...

My orders to the police and military ... if there is trouble and there's an occasion that they fight back and your lives are in danger, shoot them dead

I love it! A leader that is taking charge of the situation! Abe and Aso take note.

What's missing for me are more details on what steps the government has done, doing and going to do especially if they plan to extend this quarantine period, which I believe is bound to happen.

Marginal sector living on a day-to-day pay basis will start to feel the impact more.

What we don't want is to end up as another Italy or Spain. The country cannot handle it. 110%.

Other than that, we don't F'kin need those 'politicians/rebels/businessmen/media' taking advantage of the whole situation.

who is taking advantage of the situation to hopefully bring down the popularity of Duterte here.

Oh, well that is different. If he was just threatening to kill people who were hoping to reduce his personal popularity then it is totally OK then, fire away. Thanks for the clarification.

Wow, not sure if this news is real or fake, did the guy not take the right pills? ON the flip side only in foreign countries can a leader of a country make and actually implement such measures. Wonder where the idea came from?

Duterte cracks me up

This guy just doesn’t play around, guy has no patience, for him dealing with every problem revolves around a bullet, anything that displeases the man, shoot him, must be stressful working with this guy. Cough the wrong way, you get a bullet in the head....smh....

Duterte, we have beaten the corona virus, only 50 died but we shot 50000 troublemakers!

Maybe they'll start shooting people who don't wear masks or buy more than 1 roll of toilet paper.

The authoritarian governments are in their element.

Cheered on by mindless minions.

This is how democracy ends.

I, for one, think it’s cool that JT allows comments that say it’s alright for the leader of the Philippines to order leftists to be shot and killed by the state.

Wow, DURANTE is very very serious. I wish trump is very serious too.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

10 yrs ago, saying that "someone needs to be shot" was understood to be hyperbole for being unhappy with something, not a real request for violence.

But when someone known for actually shooting someone makes that statement, well, perhaps only 1 more bullet is needed?

theFu: Spot on.

Wow, DURANTE is very very serious. I wish trump is very serious too.

I think enough people are dying because of wanton stupidity, don't you?
