Get those sneaky Russians! It is an odd case as they are not accused of going after state secrets. As the article states they are being accused of being "secret agents of Russia’s intelligence service, the SVR, with the goal of penetrating U.S. government policymaking circles." I was watching The PBS NewsHour and it struck me as strange how they were accused of infiltrating and seeking out policy makers. What happened to good old fashioned spying? Digging up the state secrets and sneaking them home?

Guess they haven't caught the US spies in Russia yet.

It is called manipulation.

The defendant “had conversations with him about research programs on small yield high penetration nuclear warheads recently authorized by US Congress (nuclear ‘bunker-buster’ warheads),” according to the report.

Tell BP about this.

The true value of this move by the Russians, if it really WAS and SVR effort, is that now American residents will look at each other and ask the question, "Can I really trust that guy? I have only known him for 10 years. He seems normal, but..."

I say I wonder if it was really SVR because the descriptions seem so clumsy and low budget. Some of the operatives sound like they knew what was going on and their handlers back in Russia were pretty clueless.

The greatest trick the Russians ever pulled was making the US think that they were a superpower, with a non-oil economy smaller than Osaka's. They are at it again. A little smoke here, a few mirrors there, and pretty soon people will be checking under their beds and looking for secret messages in old pumpkins.

Hey the Russians just announced that they maybe floating the ruble soon... Give 'em a break (or maybe not)

I'd say start naming names.... the public should know whether these suspected moles had been blackmailed, as part of the Russian deep-cover ops-- to act against the American interests.
