Gotta give credit to the STUDENTS for standing up for what they believe in! There was a time here in Japan where university students were the center of activism, but that era seems long gone here!

I wish that Japanese kids would have the same passion! (Without the violence of course!)

CrazyJoe. Chinese high court has the highest authority to explain the constitution.

Akie, are you aware of "one country two systems" and Hong Kong Basic Law ? Does that ring a bell ?

After this blatant attempt to override the Hong Kong Constitution, it is clear to the world that China cares not one iota for human rights or the rule of law.  Anything that challenges the Communists' death grip of dictatorial powers must be put down.

It is no wonder these kids are willing to die for their freedom. God bless them all.

In Beijing, the National People’s Congress criticized Hong Kong’s high court for striking down a ban on wearing face masks at the protests, in a decree that has potentially ominous implications for the city’s vaunted rule of law and independent judiciary.

Independent judiciary? Hey, we're trying to run a police state here, OK?

China outraged by masks, too bad they aren't outraged with the millions of their innocent citizens they have placed in concentration camps

Well done HK police, restoring safety for the citizens of Hong Kong

i call complete b.s. on that statement.

Living on your knees will only make the people of Hong Kong more defiant!

LOL, BB you're pure comedy ROTFL, the Police has done so well, the police chief got replaced....hahaha.

BTW, violence is just wrong! No argument. But when you look at the disproportionate use of force, the asymetry of force, who 'should' be in charged. It's obvious the police were NOT running an agenda of law and order, nor stability and deserve all the flack they get.

Lam should roll next, else, the protesters should continue their quest for justice and freedom (even uf it's only until 2047). She was ultimately the one that was calling these really poor decisions. Blunder after blunder...

Without main land China help, how are they ever gonna rebuild their city and get themselves out of recession?

Mainland China's "help" is why they are in this mess.

Haha akie keep on dreaming! Like every body is the same in the eyes of the law in japan!

Ironic that the Chinese courts claim jurisdiction over Hong Kong, considering that the complete absence of a legal system in China was the original cause of the dispute. Nobody is safe in the government-controlled courts, which is why it is unacceptable to consider extradition from a place where there is a legal system.

Does it say anything in the constitution about torturing British consulate workers?

He says he was made to hold stress positions - squatting against a wall for example - for hours on end, and beaten if he moved. "They would beat the bony parts, like my ankles... or any vulnerable part." He claims he was subjected to sleep deprivation, with his interrogators forcing him to sing the Chinese national anthem to keep himself awake.

This is the most self destructive city if i have ever seen one in my life. How are they even able to keep it up for 5 freaking months with no work is beyond me. Whatever allowence these youths had would have been spend long ago. I suspect ill intented people is secretly supporting them and using the chaos to earn a killing at the stock market and taking down competitors by having the kids destroy property. They really should wake up already. They are destroying HK and their future with their own hands at this rate. Help is not coming no matter how long they persist. Outsiders just see this as amusements and something to talk about at diner.

HK beautiful city is already long gone and their econmy might not even able to recover. Are they even thinking about the aftermath? Without main land China help, how are they ever gonna rebuild their city and get themselves out of recession? Others countries is not gonna help nor provide any relief funding. This is literally self destruction if you ask me.

The Hong Kong police has done a very good job! Nobody dies!  If you compare to "The Kent State University" shootings in 5/4/70 causing 4 deaths done by Ohio National Guards, the HK PD is a model for every country to follow! Imagine the immense danger they were facing  by these guys throwing hundred of Molotov Cocktails! I am sure the Kent State students has no lethal weapons!

Yubaru, standing up for terrorism is against laws, and inhuman.

There are no special people before laws, that is the core value of civilization.
