Point taken re 'flooding'. Our family were on a USAF base, and we looked forward to trips to Florida, but as kids we loved any kind of wild weather, boasting of which hurricane etc. that we had experienced.

Maybe not the right choice of words under the circumstances. I was stationed near there for a couple of years in the Navy and know the region to an extent from regular weekend motorcycle rides. There isn't enough money in the world to convince me to return, or to live anywhere that regularly experiences tropical storms, hurricanes or tornados.

He said the vehicles likely hydroplaned on wet roads, with eight children, ages 4 to 17, killed in a van belonging to a youth ranch for abused or neglected children operated by the Alabama Sheriffs Association.

Agreed. I used to live near there when I was a kid, and all kinds of memories come flooding back. So sad.
