Video and aerial photographies, they calculate the surface on which the protest took place and then estimate the population density. In that case, 150k -> 4 people per square meter, over 1M -> 30 people per square meter.

True, this is only the 14th country to make same sex marriage legal, at least in Japan we're safe, we don't even have to think about it, homosexuality does not exist here.

In such a contentious issue, wouldn't a nationwide referendum be more democratic than allowing easily-swayed pols decide? If the majority really support it, the result of the vote would be proof-positive, Oui ou Non?

France isn't a democracy, it's a republic.

@JohnBecker, in case you're unaware, a republic can be democratic without being a true democracy. Likewise, USA is not a democracy but a constitutional republic yet has democratic voting on the state level.

My point was that the voice of the whole people should be heard.

If you are concerned with what someone is doing in their bedroom then you best stop watching.

Trinity Sunday - Natural Family where Father and Mother Love and produce children in love. It is something to defend. Children have a right to a Father and Mother that love each other. Children are precious and this is what these French citizens are demonstrating for. God bless them for it is a noble cause.

'Officially secular but predominantly Catholic'. I wish people wouldn't use 'but' in this kind of sentence. Secularism means a belief in the separation of church and state. It's possible to be religious and secular. I doubt the majority of French Catholics would like to live under the nonsense issued from the Vatican.

stupid dumb this people.....they protest in matter that not involve to they standard living (salary job housing medicine food etc) but only to there "purity" ego.

When people want to spend so much time running everybody else's life, you wonder if they have any time left to run their own lives. Personally I find that running my own life does not leave me any time left over to run anybody else's life.

Why are people engaged in lawful protest treated with such ridcule? It appears that despite very large numbers of French people being opposed to homosexual "marriage" the politicians have decided to go ahead with it, anyway. There needs to be a referendum on this issue, which is not about "equality" or "equal rights" it is a question of morality. Since the beginning of humanity and human civilisation, the natural order has defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Husband and wife. Man and woman. Male and female. Father and Mother. Now politicians are taking it upon themselves to redefine the nature of marriage. It is unacceptable to most people in the world today, no matter what belief system or religious system one adheres to. When we examine the history of ancient civilisations and empires, the common thread that led to their downfall and disappearance was immorality, and in particular, sexual immorality. To destroy the time honoured natural institution that is marriage between a man and a woman is to destroy civilisation itself. I have nothing against himosexuals who wish to commit to a monogamous civil partnership, b ut I am totally opposed to calling this "marriage." it can never be that,

@Mikune Hara Yeah, cause Japan is SOOO open minded. I bet it won't be less than 20 years till gay issues are even discussed in the Diet, let alone gay marriage.

@Sodesuka These kids that would be adopted by gay families would not be adopted at all if gay couples couldn't adopt, so they'd have no parents at all. By your standard, should all single mothers give up their children?
