As I've said previously, I fear that Trump's violent rhetoric and outright lies will result in actual harm to one of the Congresswomen.

Jeez, don't know why this is news - just typical behavior for the MAGA hat wearing, hate-filled, Trumper crowd...

I'm sure we'll hear similar chants at the next lounge act rally...

Just another example of the depths of depravity Trump and his supporters have sunk...

Oh the same MAGA hat that has caused “tolerant liberals” to violently attack other human beings and cause them to be hospitalized? Just for wearing a hat supporting the leader of our country?

are you concerned about the liberal rhetoric causing this? Care about these people safety? Nope. Cause they “deserve” it for daring to wear a red hat, right?

@Blacklabel, can you bring yourself to condemn these officers, though?

We all now know what MAGA signifies. It is the mark of the fascist and is worn primarily by those who enable and support Trump's racism.

If the officer doesn't like our congress people, he can leave the country and go back to wherever his ancestors came from.

Skip jobs and infrastructure...all of our money CLEARLY needs to go to education in this country, with a special focus on critical thinking skills and civics.

Oh sure, there are liberal mobs roaming the country attacking peace-loving MAGA hat wearing Trumpers....only in Trumpers' alt-right, Russia-loving fantasy land.

Trump-world is only about two things - fear and hate. You see it everyday in Trump's racists tweets, let alone his first comments in 2016; "they're rapists"... Now he attacks four women of color with racist tropes...

Hey Donnie, tell us all about your Neo-Nazi and White Supremacist friends - you know, all those you said were "very fine people"...

Trump/King/DeSantis/Moore - the face of the racist Republican Party...

Trump spent most of his campaign complaining about and trashing the US. But oddly, that seems to have been forgotten in the rush to condemn the 4 Congresswomen.

He's got the base all riled up, angry, violent and ready to lash out. They're not lashing out at policies, though. It's more visceral than that. It's impotent rage building and building and building.

If anything happens, the blood will be on his hands.

10+ yrs ago, saying someone should be shot just meant that you disagreed with their position. It wasn't a call to harm anyone anymore than suggesting that someone needed to be slapped. It was well understood that was the meaning.

But in the last few years, the world has change and hyperbole can't be used, unless you are calling someone a racist, then it is fine. I don't know exactly when the change happened, but it was around 2005-ish.

Well understood, like code?

Is it understood, when a politician calls his opponents unAmerican and unpatriotic, when he calls the press the enemy of the people?

If someone calls for a politician to be shot, it's fairly obvious that they are extremists.

Well understood, like code?

No. Slang. "Bad", "sick", "da bomb", "destroy America" - you know. Slang.

Is it a difficult concept?

Gretna Police Chief Arthur Lawson

Good on Police Chief Larsen!

Trump, with help in the US from fellow corrupt Republicans who won't question him fearing their corporate sponsors would contribute less to their campaigns if they did so, and from Steve Bannon, Richard Spencer, David Duke and others leading alt right organizations, and with help from a huge number of right wing media outlets, and of course from 'abroad', is doing more to divide the nation than probably any politician in modern history.

Given Trump's all about the Benjamins, so that's the trail to follow, which faction(s) of the globe's richest and most powerful elite (putative) benefit from his reign?

@blacklablJust for wearing a hat supporting the leader of our country?

Not much of a 'leader' - except perhaps in the minds of his base, a minority of the population - when he continues to further divide a long-divided nation and add fuel to the country's long burning racial/ethnic/class fires.

Blacklabel: "are you concerned about the liberal rhetoric causing this? Care about these people safety? Nope. Cause they “deserve” it for daring to wear a red hat, right?"

But hey, why comment on the article or the police saying a person "should be shot"? I guess when you defend blatant racism there's not much you can do but desperately try and deflect.

These police deserve not only to be fired, but possibly jailed for threatening the lives of others.

Death threats against those who speak out against Trump are commonplace these days.

A loony with a gun can do serious damage.

Indeed, as can a loony with a twitter account. And just what is it about these progressives that stokes the ire of the Trump cultists?

Could it possibly be their policies? We don't know, because all the rhetoric is demonizing them for not agreeing with the PotUS.

The Congresswomen are under fire - and being accused of being unAmerican - because they exercise their freedom of speech, as politicians.

But no, the real victims here are those poor cops, apparently.

All hail Trump, The Great Unifier.

There are far too many cowardly fascists wearing police uniforms who shoot unarmed citizens first and ask questions later, but the bitter irony of all this is that in Amerika a cop's ill-tempered post will get him fired whereas if he had really shot AOC, well... desk duty?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Appears everyone misunderstands my posts above.

In 2005, the cops post would have been ignored since they aren't credible threats and more than someone in Japan or Chile or Morocco making the exact same statement would have been.

In 2019, they cannot. The cop doing the post was wrong and held accountable.

It is a different world today and slang is constantly misunderstood by old people without any sense of humor.
