Australia has seen a surge of asylum seekers fleeing Sri Lanka, Iraq and Afghanistan, and protests at detention centers are relatively common. - Australias highest court rules on the countrys plan to deport asylum seekers

Deport them to a sunny, warm and friendly Islamic country where they'll be happy i'm sure. Look at France and the UK as an example of what happens when muslims invade by stealth. If Australia let them (Muslims) in, they will cause nothing but trouble and expect local laws to be changed to suit their medieval beliefs.

Certainly there must be limits to the numbers of asylum seekers allowed.

If Australia let them (Muslims) in, they will cause nothing but trouble

Except for when they work for the betterment of Australia. I am sure it would not be too hard to demonstrate native born Aussies are more a detriment per capita than approved asylum seekers.

and expect local laws to be changed to suit their medieval beliefs.

Change is inevitable. Some adjustments for immigrants are necessary and good.

I am sure that we can safely say that even America's ridiculous laws on intermarriage changed largely as a result of immigration.

Try. I think you would fail.

These illegal immigrants cant even behave in a detention center how can they be trusted to behave once released into the general population, the aussies are right in locking them up and wanting to ship them off.

Why allow shit stirrers in, send them back towards mecca.

I'm trying...hey, I thought of one. The prime minister of Australia is on the ropes and could lose her job in a corruption scandal. She's not an asylum seeker. That was too easy!

Here's more of the dirty details: an MP used a credit card to pay for prostitution. He's in the same party as Prime Minister Julia Gillard. The party only has a one seat majority. If he is ousted, her tenure as PM and her party's control of parliament is threatened. For this reason, Gillard has been defending Craig Thomsen. You mean he's not an asylum seeker either?

Except that the muslim idea of "betterment of society" includes the introduction of Shariah.

Before you lecture on the merits of large-scale muslim immigration into a modern Western society, you might want to live in a Shariah society sometime.

How come other well off Islamic nations such as Malaysia, Indonesia and many more don't open and accept these refugees with wide open arms?

And if that was possible, do these refugees have any intention of migrating to those countries in the first place ?

For one thing, I think Japan got this thing right. Might seem cold but they got it right, that's why Japanese culture is still intact!

Civil law. For themselves only. Not criminal law. Nothing to do with you and me.

As many times as this has been explained to you, its like someone pushes your reset button every time you go to sleep. Try to protect that thing, will ya?

One thing overlooked here is the disgraceful practice of people smuggling. Accepting thousands of dollars to put people on ramshackle boats and push them in the direction of the Prince Regent Nature Reserve. Variably, the people who make it to land are stuck in the middle of no mans land both geographically and politically. Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand need to arrest these criminals and see to it that this people smuggling ceases.

Really I think 800 for 4000 is a good Idea. NOT I can see what will happen next. At the moment Queensland has 4500 vacant mining jobs so I pretty sure I know where these guys are going for $100,000 a year plus jobs. I guess the Government and Mining's plan is to use these guys to first bust unions then lower wages finally destroy conditions. We had our jobs outsource. We're bringing them here because we can't send these jobs overseas.

I enjoy the diversity of having different nationalities in a society, but there are times when things go too far. Is Sharia law really only for themselves? Do all Muslims agree with it? Is it really nothing to do with you and me? Here are two examples. People will have to decide for themselves:

"Wear a headscarf or we will kill you":

"Sharia law controlled zones in British cities":

@Oracle civil law? The "civil" laws of sharia or Islamic law period are what come into direct conflict with the laws of any country that abides by human rights. Please don't tell me that "honour" killings, beating of non-muslims or apostates from Islam (does the recent beating of the Australian convert to Islam for drinking alcohol seem familiar?), harrassment of women because their not wearing a hajib or burqa in an Islamic community because its "civil" law is allowed. If you give an inch a mile WILL be taken.

DentShop very good point and I have to agree with you here. This is really one of the root causes of the problem itself. These greedy people smugglers who are after nothing but money putting men, women and children at risk of loosing their lives on these small unseaworthy boats.

They need to be prosecuted harshly but we all know this won't happen ( unless the Aussie government puts a great deal of pressure on countries like Indonesia and such.

I really feel sorry for the refugees. After all these folks have lost everything and their war torn countries. All they seek is a better life. It's too bad some bad apples sneak in with the pack!

However what I see as a huge problem is the second and third generations in the country who just have no intention of integrating with the rest of society. They tend to forget that it was those countries that saved them and gave sanctuary and safety.

People can forget the good stuff really easily. In my book, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Don't bring your countries habits and other bla bla to the country you want to migrate too, people need to integrate into the new society and not push their own ways.

After all most Western countries are very fair towards immigrants and refugees and really used to roll out the red carpet treatment.

When I was 9 years old, we have a military coup in Fiji and we left Fiji to seek refugee status in Canada. It was granted. I have been through this so I know what it's like.

Problem is most of my Fijian friends don't appreciate how good we had it in Canada like i do. Like i said, people forget the good stuff too easy.

When in Australia, make sure you eat Vegemite and drink VB or go back home :) kidding.

Huh? Most western countries have serious illegal immigration problems(been like that for ages). We don't mind legal immigrants that followed the proper channels.

But as for illegals and refugees, we seen our fair share(majority) that claim asylum, etc because they know they won't pass a proper immigration process or see it as a quick ticket to a better life. Most asylum seekers get rejected as they can't proof prosecution, etc for them claiming asylum is trying to shortcut the immigration process.

Don't confuse all western countries with the USA which goes rather easy on illegal immigrants and refugees. And it does cost them a lot and not just in monies.

Don't get me wrong I feel for them but there is a legal and the other way to enter a country and earn your worth. Now which should I support with my taxes, etc?

But you need to sort the wheat from the chaff too.

You're kidding right? Anyone who can't even behave in immigration holding should be accepted with open arms. Yeah right. I will never bend to changing my way of life or beliefs to accomodate someone that moves into my country and expects me to change for them. YOU MOVED HERE, I DID NOT INVITE OR ASK YOU TO COME. Wouldn't it be really stupid if I had asked my wife's family (just as an example) to not observe Oban because I don't believe in the practice? They should change for me? And the Muslim belief that anyone else that is not Muslim is wrong and should basically be killed. Yes these are the type of immigrants I want living next door to me. Oh and don't forget to beat your wife or even stone her to death for certain things. OOOPS I can't serve pork dishes at my resturant anymore because it is dirty and will offend my awsome new Muslim customers. It is a really sad day for Australia, being forced to accept illegal immigrants. I won't even call at least 50% of them refugees. They just want into another country. Look at the U.S. now. Look at all the exceptions being made for illegals, and especially for Muslims, it makes me sick. If you look up some news stories (not trash talk, real news) read about all the exceptions being made, that sometimes even American's born and raised in the U.S. cannot get. Wake up Australia.

Well let me see as an Australian this does have something to do with me and as an Australian l say for what its worth if you want to be ruled and live by Sharia law pack your belongings and catch the first available flight out of Australia to a country that has this law. Australia is a multicultural country that has laws and rules in place that cover all people we do not want special laws for some and not others. I guess in the end if you dont like it by all means feel free to leave as there are more deserving people that will like the country for what it is.
