When the Americans leave, no matter what spin they put on it, they will be leaving after being as about succesfull as the Russians and the British were in earlier attempts to control Afghanistan. Despite the billions of dollars that has been pumped into Afghanistan it will revert to a backward, religiously dominated third world backwater. And if that is what they want, who are we in the west to suggest it should be otherwise?

Any claim that they have been succesfull because they drove Al-Qeada out is meaningless as they have just moved them elsewhere. Somalia has plenty of oil so I guess AQ will have to be moved on from there now.
