I for one am heartened to see these two politicians bridge the gap between parties to make everyone hate them.

Striking a rare note of agreement, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy echoed Pelosi, saying his message to other lawmakers who want to visit Afghanistan is “not to go.”

Or to stay there.

If these cowboys are on some mission to prove their masculinity, let them do something that requires actual courage.

Flying back and forth on chartered flights, protected by the military is not bravery, it’s outright cowardice.

They billed their “secret” visit as an effort to conduct congressional oversight

While they spin what they see to fit their narrative, as they criticize others for spinning events to fit their narrative. Snakes chasing their own tails.

Is there any chance they will return to DC and say the invasion Republican Bush and other members of congress in both parties started and approved of was an enormous mistake, one the US should never make again.

And as they witness the military hardware left behind that had been paid for by US taxpayers, is there any chance they will return saying the US needs to spend less on its military, more on infrastructure and other programs aimed at improving the lives of people living within the US. Or will they continue policies like military spending, which tend to fatten the bank accounts of the haves, but do little to help the working and middle class, the latter usually the population whose sons and daughters fight the wars that primarily benefit the haves.

Congressmen of this ilk are just grandstanders by another name riding on the backs of taxpayers. America needs to get these freeloaders off their backs asap. MG of the DOJ could start the ball rolling with a few indictments, but who's holding their breath?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I don't blame them. The US, British, and other foreign media are there making this evacuation and Taliban takeover look like some apocalyptical scene. Meanwhile, from what regular Afghans are reporting, things are pretty normal in the rest of the country.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I think it is great they went, as its not like Biden knows what is going on.

Also they were smart to go as 1 Democrat and 1 Republican. Seth Moulton is a military veteran first, a Democrat second which is commendable.

What?

Is there any chance they will return to DC and say the invasion Republican Bush and other members of congress in both parties started and approved of was an enormous mistake, one the US should never make again.

They’re both vets wanting to assess the chaos for themselves because they don’t know and don’t trust what is being said from the podium and these men from both parties put their partisanship aside to try and figure a way to help Americans

And as they witness the military hardware left behind that had been paid for by US taxpayers, is there any chance they will return saying the US needs to spend less on its military,

As long as Democrats are in power they will weaken the nation and spend less which is what China, Russia and Iran as well as the jihadists hope.

more on infrastructure

More wasted US tax dollars for the Dems to preach but never really use.

and other programs aimed at improving the lives of people living within the US.

Go through the largest cities in the US, the Dems had 60 years to make things better and improve people’s lives, they haven’t then and they won’t now.

Or will they continue policies like military spending,

If you capitulate to your enemy and give them the advantage overtake you in dominance to put you in a position that declines your safety, standard of living, wealth and prosperity, and allow communism, Islamist and theocracies to overtake and control this planet and other nations that will be the alternative. No thanks.

but do little to help the working and middle class,

We did and went well for awhile, but now this administration wants us to be less dependent on fossil fuel and be energy dependent but now once again dependent on the Middle East, but want us to be dependent on the Chinese, yeah…sounds great.

Imagine if the GOP started putting the country first, there would have been no Jan 6 insurrection. You have to wonder why they insist on putting race, party ahead of the country!

It's no wonder really. When they demand respect for the police, military, or authority, what they are really demanding is respect for the status quo-the existing power structures.

That is why to the right there is no contradiction in harassing capitol police and "backing the blue."

When they landed, they should have been handed m4s and asked to hold the line.

Then forgotten about for 16 hours.

At least then the American public would get some useful work from them.

What? Sounds like something Alex Jones or a Rupert Murdoch lying head might have said? ROFLMAO

He never said that, he always respected the military.

I can never doubt your word on such things, even though the evidence says he did exactly that.

He did question the position of a lot of our top military officials and looking back now, rightfully so.

Yes top military officials are really not military, they may have spent all their careers working there, serving the nation, winning bravery awards, but can we ever believe such folk.

At this particular point and time with this administration, I can’t dispute that.

I am so honored that you have taken this position.

So what actual benefit did this visit bring? anyone saved? and Taliban placated? Anything?

It's no wonder really. When they demand respect for the police, military, or authority, what they are really demanding is respect for the status quo-the existing power structures.

Well, who wants to live in a world without the police or the security and safety of the military and weak leadership, the streets of our largest cities, the botched pull out of Afghanistan, and a weak President are a strong testament to this reality that is unfolding before our eyes.

That is why to the right there is no contradiction in harassing capitol police and "backing the blue."

I don't see ANY Democrat moving in the hearts of Baltimore, Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, Oakland, Detroit.

I can never doubt your word on such things, even though the evidence says he did exactly that.

As well as evidence he did mention the support of them.

"The truth is, that the military people are so important to our country."

"Our military and the strength of our military and the strengthening of our military is a number one priority for the Trump administration."

-Donald Trump

a realistic perspective of what is actually going on "on the ground".

Which State Department, Pentagon nor Biden neither can nor will provide.

Totally, after all breitbart ,politico and infowars were too scared to send their highly respected reporters to Afghanistan.

The bravery shown by both is commendable, they chartered a flight, got the US military to protect them, were too scared to go outside, and then flew right back home. It's almost as if they beat the taliban just by being there!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Biden increased the size of the defence budget than Trump's.

Well, now a big portion of that is in the hands of the Taliban.

Sounds like a president who cares.

If he truly did, Afghanistan wouldn't be a mess. The guy is pretty much politically done.

Trump wouldn't even go to the cemetery of VETS in France because it was raining. Didn't want to drive 50 miles in a car. Great Coward-in-Chief.

Trump is not the one in the hot seat, the GOP are not the ones that have to worry about losing the House or the Presidency.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

No, it isn’t.

Yes, it is according to top special forces officials.

It’s not as if Biden increased the military budget and suddenly started sending the excess to Afghanistan.

He just completely obliterated the military.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Trump started the Afghan mess

No, he didn't even CNN have all come to realize that this President is done from this point on. He owns it. Doesn't matter what Trump's intentions were, Biden is the President and he made the decision to leave like this. Blaming Trump just makes the left look worse than they already do.

Biden owns this, the left needs to face the reality and the longer this persists, the worse of the implications that will haunt the DNC for years to come.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

No, he didn't even CNN have all come to realize that this President is done from this point on.

CNN isn’t a serious news outlet. Remember you told us that.

What is your prediction now that Biden is politically done?

What will happen? Will he see the year out as President?

No one told them that though.

What is your prediction now that Biden is politically done?

rhetorical question?

What will happen? Will he see the year out as President?

Not sure, but definitely he won’t have the house and senate l, the Presidency doesn’t look good at all as well
