2 years on, Brexit vote has taken a toll on UK economy

The de Havilland Comet will rule the skies again once brexit kicks in. And I'll be driving an Austin Maxi we don't need the French and their chappy cars or that expensive German rubbish. With Alf Garnet back on the telly the British people will be able to call a spade a spade again as all the brown people get shipped back where they belong.

I'm not sure why Nigel Farage is getting German passports for his family but I'm sure it's a secret ploy to bring them down from the inside. He knows better than all them insignificant business leaders and fake news financial experts.

I feel like there has to be another referendum which focuses on making the average person aware of the outcome of negotiations with the E.U up to that point they are concluded, unless hard Brexit becomes the reality.

.There was a lot of straight up nonsense promoted before the Brexit vote on all sides and there is still a lot of uncertainty now. Some of it from misinformation and some of it due to legal complexities.

The British people need some time to reflect on something approaching the facts as close as possible - accurate data, likely new laws, clear and real economic impacts etc etc. You would want 3 months, at least, to give people the opportunity to develop a reasonable understanding of what Brexit finally means after negotiations are finished.

Not enough time to do it all properly unfortunately.

In the end, the heart will rule over the brain for most people because there is not enough time and only after years will the costs and benefits become more obvious to the average Joe if Brexit does occur

The UK government needs someone in the driving seat that can do the job, not May the prevaricator....

The E.U. is an unworkable, sinking ship. The problem for Britain is that the Brexit vote was close and the nation is divided on the issue. PM May and other leaders in government generally don’t want to do what the people asked them to do and as a result are dragging their feet.

Britain can pull off a hard Brexit and negotiate a truly free trade agreement with the US. Dropping trade barriers completely with the US would flood Britain with investment. They could retool the Airbus factory in Broughton to build Boeing planes. Britain would regain control of their own destiny and also have economic development. But I doubt the leadership is capable of overcoming its Eurocentric thinking to find a way to do what’s best for their people.

Seems the largest problem with Brexit is May’s foot dragging, leaving everything uncertain for the future of the U.K. Businesses don’t know what to expect and are rightly hesitant to make new investments until there is some sort of clear vision of the future. Get on with it Ms May or step asside and let someone with the will and vision to do it move past this period of uncertainty and stagnation!

Everything is alright because Mr Johnson has written in The Sun that we are getting a Full British Brexit, and Mr Fox has said that we can walk away from talks with the EU which would hurt other countries like Belgium too which the EU won't like so will cave in. It's a big game of who'll commit suicide first.

There has been a large community of Polish people since the end of WW11 who also fought alongside the British troops and have not considered a problem. East Acton in London is the largest Polish area. Before the EU there were more than 200,000.

After joining the EU more Polish people came but then there own economy got better so many went back home. But the original Polish people are already third and fourth generations of people who only know life in the UK.

There are stupid rightwing types are all anti non British but many of the Polish people are also British and entitled to a British passport and have full citizenship.

Anyway, anyone who knows anything about England and the Brexit referendum knows that this referendum was 90% about immigration from the EU, not immigration from Africa or the Middle East. The UK economy was probably the stronger in the entire EU with the lowest unemployment rate and highest growth. The so called issue of sovereignty was also a BS myth, and it played no role, or not significant role for most people. Britain was given countless exceptions within the EU to a point they were barely an actual member. Them leaving the EU was 90% about fears and brutal deception campaign manufactured by the infamous British tabloids against the EU nationals, not limited to Poles, but Germans, Spanish and many others as well. Japan is a nation ruled by old bureaucrats, England is a nation ruled by old vicious tabloids.

You voted for it now you have to live with it.

Um, under EU law, Britain cannot prevent anyone from another member state from coming to live in the UK.

Basically open borders. Can't have sovereignty if you can;t control who comes into your country.

The UK certainly could have controlled who has come in to the country in the last 15 years a lot more and a lot better than it did.

And the only people who are a burden are the work-shy Brits, not that there are many of them, but certainly not the EU migrants, who have to work otherwise they can be deported.

More accurately, Britain can't prevent someone from a member state coming to work in the UK. A small difference perhaps, but I think it's a significant one.

Let those European community immigrants living in the UK be given the chance to become British, if they do not then let them be deported-simple as that!

EU migrants

EU migrants? Why would anyone from Germany want to ''migrate'' to the UK to work? UK is actually among the poorest members of the EU compared to Germany, France and Scandinavia. Only the Southern countries are less rich, but even they would rather look for work in Germany than in England. There are far more English migrants in the EU and elsewhere than there are European. I can't believe how utterly delusional the English are. Do you have any sense of reality?
