Climate change is a myth. There are still questions about Obama's birthplace. Vaccinations cause autism.

Vote Republican.

I have never seen anyone deny climate change, is human activity the cause? So I suggest read it right.

Is it upper atmosphere disturbances the cause? This is the only increase in human activity in the past 2 decades. It doesn't make sense that industry is the cause unless it's all China's emissions. In the last decades the developed nations made significant reductions which should not have made an increase in 2015.

Vote democratic if you want a liar as POTUS or a national debt that would collapse the economy more than it is already. And quite possibly a criminal... Vote for that front runner in the democratic party.

So I suggest read it right.

Wait, I thought the official denier argument was that there had been no global warming since 1998 so we had nothing to worry about.

Now its.....not human activity because that would be impossible (fill in random rationale with no scientific backing here). Or its China's fault, regardless of the fact that acknowledging it is China's fault is mutually exclusive from the argument that human's aren't the cause. The key point here is that whatever is happening its definitely Obama's fault and you should vote Republican because they never lie or run up debts or crash the economy or are criminals. Except the ones who are.

Well, I'm convinced!

No it wasn't.

The problem with the headline is that it doesn't explain exactly how annual average temperatures are defined. If you look at the trend over the past nearly two decades, 2015 was no hotter than 1997, unless you use only record temperatures from a few places, and subtract cold weather records from others.

The El Nino is already dying down, setting the beginning of a long downward trend in temperatures, which even IPCC scientists agree will occur. The "pause" in global warming continues, there has still been no upward trend in temperatures in nearly 19 years, despite 2015 being the "earth's hottest by a wide margin". By the way, the earth is more than 136 years old, and 2015 was still not as warm as it was in medieval times.

Global warming! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

@rainyday, my political comment was at an eloquent post eluding (directly) the republicans cause the temperature increase and deny climate change. They don't, the cause if not a natural cycle is the argument. Really, if improvements and reductions have been made should 2015 be worse than 1980's or 1990's?

Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University said...

Ah, Dr Mann, the same person who wrote in an email to Dr Phil Jones at the Climate Research Unit that "we have to hide the decline". This refers to tree ring data in Russia which showed that temperatures were not actually increasing, but decreasing. Then the two "scientists" created a graph which included tree ring data in the upward trend, but then truncated the tree-ring trajectory when it started diverge downward.

Dr Mann was also the inventor of the "Hockey Stick" graph showing an increase in global temperatures. He conveniently began is graph at time when temperatures were abnormally cold, while cherry-picking other data, insuring a long, upward trend. This graph was eventually discarded by the IPCC because it was not accurate, and on the grounds of this false graph, Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" had to be reclassified from a documentary movie to political commentary, and could no longer be shown in schools or universities.

It was also Doctor Mann who threatened science publications from publishing any studies contrary to his own, and those of Dr Jones, and other climate scientists who supporters of AGW.

As a result of these actions, Dr Jones was censured by the Penn State. He should have been fired.

Although 2015 is now the hottest on record, it was the fourth time in 11 years that Earth broke annual marks for high temperature.

Carpe Diem everyone. Before its too late.

I'm worried about natural disaspers. I heard that the typhoon which covers the Japanese Archipelago completely will form in the near future if the temperature continues rising. If it's happened, Japan will be seriously damaged.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Wait, does that mean Ted Cruz can no longer give his bullshit misdirection about cooling for 17 years?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Let stop and use our brains for a minute.

From sunrise to late afternoon generally everyday the temperature rises and to something that only lives for a hour or so that would seem like global warming if they kept records and passed them on that as spring and then summer approaches it trends to warmer temperatures and then cools as fall and winter approach.

This planet has been here for BILLIONS of years so ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT HUMANS ENDED THE LAST ICE AGE 10,000 YEARS AGO? So what did? Clearly the Christians will say that's impossible as the world wasn't here but if we were to use our brains for a minute...

This planet has gone and will go through cycles most of which are controlled by events outside its control so please stop with all this nonsense. Just go about your lives and reduce, reuse and recycle when ever possible and enjoy your VERY LIMITED TIME on this beautiful planet that just happens to be the only one that can sustain us for the time being.

Stop buying into all this hype which is nothing more than another new 'religion' to control the masses. This madness will ironically only start another war when views don't align. History always repeats its self, that's just human nature and to want to be in control always leads to war.

Sorry, its just really impossible to understand what you are writing here, are you writing in Japanese and using translation software or something?

Scientists have refined their recording technic specifically to show an increasing temperature trend. I was long skeptical of man-made global warming, and Climategate very much reinforced that sentiment.

The earth’s climate has always changed, and always will, and it ain’t our fault. The thing I am very certain of is that there are many dishonest people looking for ways to exploit the people’s fear.

KnowBetter: Let stop and use our brains for a minute.

Usually what happens next is a call to ignore scientists and all of their research. Because we have brains.

The earth’s climate has always changed, and always will, and it ain’t our fault.

Exactly! Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere measured at levels vastly exceeding anything over the past 100,000 years are either the result of faulty devices or a broad international conspiracy by scientists. And even if this massive CO2 spike were happening, it's not necessarily due to human activity - could be volcanoes, and though these "scientists" claim that volcanic CO2 comprises less than 1 percent of annual CO2 emissions, again, they're either wrong (SECRET volcanoes!) or in cahoots again.

Why should I believe science if I don't want to?

a broad international conspiracy by scientists.

Everybody got their tin foil hats on?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Climategate, no release of raw data because outsiders might 'misinterpret', massive massaging by the models, biasing data in the upward direction with bogus explanations (talking here about explanation Berkeley climate group or whoever had for adding a model bias to buoy-measured temperatures because water flow sensors on passing ships registered higher temperatures than the buoys ... ignoring that ships are carrying around their own large heat sources ...) .... etc., etc., etc., ....

If I may also interject politics into this subject:

on the discussion of climate change, one of the political parties in the USA does not have a single candidate who is willing to say that he or she believes that global warming is real (or evolution, for that matter.) How in the world can we expect someone who rejects science so completely to be a competent Commander-in-Chief?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No global warming in Okinawa this coming weekend. It will be a record-cold weekend. Possibly with sleet.

I just sit back and munch on popcorn watching the drama while all the deniers scramble to find some reason for why the numbers recorded don't say what they actually say.

As a result of these actions, Dr Jones was censured by the Penn State. He should have been fired.

Really??? Penn State says otherwise. Tell us another one!:

In the last decades the developed nations made significant reductions which should not have made an increase in 2015.

No they haven't. Any reductions have been token, at best. Refineries around the world are still spewing tons of methane into the atmosphere every hour. China is just the worst of the offenders, not the only one. The U.S. is second.

No we aren't telling you that. Yes, the Earth runs in cycles from hot to cold and back to hot again. What is being said is that the CURRENT surge in temperatures has exceeded that normal cycle and the start of the current surge corresponds to the period when the industrial revolution really got going.

With the addition of the 2015 data, we have the following information on the global temps from 1880 to the present:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/59191044/Global%20Temp%20Deviation%20from%2020th%20Century%20Average.PNG

As anyone can see, the deviation from the 20th Century Average is INCREASING, not decreasing.

Hot weather = "it's the climate, stupid!"

Cold weather = "weather's not climate, stupid!"

That's how you keep them dollars rollin' in ....

Monster snow storm bears down on US east coast threatening chaos

State of emergency has been declared in Washington DC and five states as 30 inches of snow and high winds may shut down up to a third of the country

@ Fadamor...

Really, you can tell that the earth which has been around for BILLIONS of years and now a mere 135 years goes by and the end of the world is coming because of a 1c average world temperature increase. I am pretty sure there was far more than a mere 1c temperature increase that ended the last ice age over 10,000 years ago and there must have been far more dead and/or starving polar bears than there are now! Only reason everyone is making such a freaking big deal about it is because of this thing called the 'INTERNET'.

Next time you go on holidays and by holidays, I means REAL HOLIDAYS, no internet, no daily news, etc., just see how 'out of the loop' you will be when you return to the 'connected world'. You are being constantly bombarded by information and that information is being focused in a manner that 'herds' you to where they want you. It's the 80/20 rule and it just about applies to EVERYTHING on this planet. In this case 80% of the population are being herded into believing the hype. Not sure why countries with higher average IQs are falling for it as there is a direct world-wide relation to countries with high IQ having less organized religion in control but maybe it has something to do with that saying that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing and today connected youth appear to be far more pushy at getting what they want NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Sadly, if we keep wasting our resources planning for a hotter planet and then it goes the other way, there will be no way to recover from that. Just remember 'they' said from the end of world war 2 until the late 70's we were headed for an ice age but then all that information was altered to make it look like it was get warmer. Who can you trust? Certainly not the ones who stand to profit from all this BS.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

KnowBetter: Not sure why countries with higher average IQs are falling for it ...

Lot's of people spouting a religion don't believe in it.

Science is as dogmatic as religion. And anti-global-warming warfare means big money to people in the public sector. They don't have to believe in it to practice it.
