Fighting is not going to work as DT is a master troll and distractor.
Trolls feed on attention. Better ignore him.

It is a tough one. It is possible to be pugnacious without sinking to Rumpian levels of birtherism, non-existent sex tapes, National Enquirer conspiracy trash and dodgy racist videos. You can’t out-trash Trump.
Highlighting his truly appalling character flaws must be a line of attack.

Tumble, I'd agree - and refrain from impeachment talk, at least until the Mueller report is released. Some say that the timing of his border wall push and shutting down the government is precisely to steal the House Dem's thunder.
Stay focused on the issues and let Trump dig his own grave.

Trump should be replaced, but not by a Democrat.

What's going to fail miserably is if the dems continue to run establishment politicians. They'll lose against the trump machine. They need to excite the masses with a candidate that doesn't reek of superpacs and corporate cash. Otherwise count on another 4 years of Trump. Count on it.

Trump’s haters think way, way more about him than Trump’s followers do. They draw comics about him (one that runs daily), they dedicate graffiti to him, they make balloons out of him, they dress up like him, they wear shirts about him, they post incessantly on social media about him, they can’t get through a day without talking about him.
I don’t think the “ignoring” route is going well.

That's the real issue.

Hardly, Trump cultists worship at his feet, just like Kim Jong Un...
Because he's such a fool...it's so easy...and its so hilarious...
Trump didn't have much luck ignoring Stormy - had to pay her off, and lie about it...

Let them give it their best shot, Trump whoop the crap out of 17 Republicans and that other lame Democrat, this finna be a breeze!
Serrano
Fight Trump or ignore him, eh? Isn't Mueller going to present all this devastating evidence of wrongdoing and get him impeached and imprisoned within the year? Warren and AOC should have no problem whipping whoever the Republicans put up in 2020. Goodbye, USA.
Or...

I sincerely hope President Trump wins again in 2020. What a fine and sincere President he has turned out to be.

Democrats have no real standout potential candidates. Looks like they will have to live with the reality of DT.

In the day to day campaign that'll last for more than 650 days, no, don't feel the need to respond to his every inane, contradictory dog whistle and tweet. Stand for something, certainly above all stand for something beyond not being Trump. Offer a compelling narrative about why the country is so broken and how you'll fix things. Better yet, keep it simple and explain why neither party has been effective at doing any such thing for the past 30 odds years.
That said, when the debates start in 2020, that's the time when you rip him to shreds, making him look like the moronic imbecile that he is. Warren, the horrible own goal on the DNA tests notw/standing, would be a compelling figure in a debate. As much as I prefer Sanders, he'd just get trampled.
Blacklabel
They are just scared of Trump so prefer to avoid him.
Blacklabel
Yeah, wasn’t Trump supposed to be impeached cause “Mueller’s coming”? So he won’t be there in 2020. So why does this article even exist, good point.
commanteer
I don't know who will win the next election, but I can guarantee it won't be Elizabeth Warren (aka Hillary 2.0). Almost any other Dem will have a better shot.
smithinjapan
Fight him. The man is not long before his apoplectic stroke. The sooner the better. Certainly can't make him any dumber.

Almost any other Dem will have a better shot.
Waters-O’Rourke in 2020?

Wake me in a year.

So no one wants to talk about how Trump can still be in the White House on Election Day 2020? Interesting. Guess that mueller report won’t get it done and you gotta beat him in an election.

I'm thinking Trump knows he's about to go down really soon. If you remove yourself fully from this, and look at it purely from an outsider's view, you have one man, whom granted is the leader of the nation, but has so many attacks coming at him all at once. This isn't a comment as to whether the attacks are justified, or he is the crusader with the masses of the status quo against him. It's just a descriptive view of the current situation. No man can stand up against that many attacks indefinitely. Eventually, something gets through, then everything gets through.
If Trump is in the position where he feels like it's starting to collapse, then he's going to want to do something. Something he can point at as a legacy. The wall is his Hail Mary. He's holding out as long as he can, and from his perspective, either his party will sell him out, or the democrats will fold... or the Mueller investigation will end. If the democrats fold, he leaves a legacy. So he's bluffing, pushing for that end, and essentially willing to wait it out as long as it takes, since it's his endgame.

Trump won't run for reelection, he'll be in jail by the end of this year. (Or in exile in Moscow.)
Blacklabel
Then why all the articles about this Dem and that Dem running against Trump? He won’t be there! you all said “mueller is coming”. Didn’t you?
Blacklabel
Yeah and Avenatti said Trump Jr would be indicted by his birthday last year. Yet he hasn’t been, how can that be?
8T
If you fight him, you will lose, if you ignore him, you will lose.
Serrano
The Democrats would rather see Trump fail than America succeed.
wtfjapan
Trump should be replaced, but not by a Democrat.
at this point in time as hard as it is to say, even Pence would be an improvement over Trump
mukashiyokatta
Fight him tooth and nail, of course. But by then he should be safely locked away in jail, with all of his COMRADES! Over to you, federal employees!
Serrano
Six more years, baby!

It's funny, perhaps it was not Russia who put Trump in the presidency?, However, in this article and other similar ones Trump's personal charisma is highlighted as a factor of victory, then? What are the democrats and the press afraid of? Why so much contradiction? Without Russia in 2020, even if the Democrats run in the presidential elections with Mickey Mouse they have nothing to fear the victory is assured, but the truth is that they simply have soul of bad losers and lack of arguments for the voters.
extanker
The Democrats need to worry less about Russia and collusion and more about putting up a charismatic candidate that people will actually vote for or Trump is what you're stuck with for 4 more years.

Trump didn't "whoop (sic) the crap" out of anyone.
In his best GOP primary showing, he got about 42% of the vote and he lost the popular vote in the general by more than 3 million votes. As with Shrub before him, he owes his victory to the anachronistic EC.
arrestpaul
There has never been a popular vote for President in the U.S.A.. The states never allowed the federal government to hold elections. Hillary was well aware of this fact, but she chose to run her campaign the way that she did.
