It is very troubling to have a neighbor like this. I used to think the solution to the problem is to eradicate a poverty in Mexico, but I am not so sure about it now as the political system of Mexico is filled with corruptions. Any suggestions?

It is true that drug business is really really profitable. So poveity is one of the reasons but its government is also devastated like other developing countries. It is also a problem that the goverment cannot handle these gangs. It's out of control. UN should keep up efforts.

"When Gun are OUTLawed; only OUTLaws will have Guns ". Good to see " Gun Control " is working for Mexico, 30 years after they decided citizens didn't NEED to be ALLOWED to own firearms.

Funny to read all of the ignorant and whacked remarks by Americans! First of all, these Mexican drug gangs are killing to get AMERICANS, Europeans, Japanese etc..DRUGS! The RICH countries of the world are FUELING this drug trade! If the USA was not the biggest drug market in the world, would Mexico, Colombia, etc..kill each other to make $$ from selling it to the druggies in the USA??? And all of the GUNS,well most of those ILLEGAL guns are FLOODING MEXICO from?? FROM THE USA!!! As Zichi says, mabye it would be better to LEGALIZE these drugs and TAX them!

Interesting. Do you have the Mexican gun control data before/after? Thanks.

All serious drugs including Coke are still ILLEGAL.
I am in Colorado and marijuana is legalized. Smuggled Mexican marijuana is still illegal.. All marijuana growers here in Colorado are licensed to grow their own here in Colorado and they are carefully monitored and tightly controlled.
Why did we voters decide to go with that? You can google the long history of legal actions on this issue..
