Gun-free zones = target-rich environments ........

Spotting a miltary/ gun fetishist is easy. Just look for the jargon....target rich environment, collateral damage, semper fi, frosty, boomstick, hand cannon, bullet dispenser....

Thank you NRA for another mass murder.

It wasn't like this 50 years ago, so what has changed?

The worldwide "fame" that's provided by the Internet, 24-hour news channels, etc., may have contributed to the occurrence of a lot of the more recent incidents.

It wasn't like this 50 years ago, so what has changed?

Much more mind-altering drugs and medication addictions.

That's true, but the reality is that the murder rate in the US for 2014 was just about the same as in 1965.

Heh-heh. . . . when this happens in Crip/Blood ghettos and "hoods" on a daily basis, nobody says a damm thang' -- Oh wait, but suddenly it's a white male (lone wolf) shooter. Next thing you know, it's a free-for-all on americans and their gun problem. Get used to it.

Yet again. May the victims rest in peace, and their families be comforted.

Yes, let's all just pray, for all the good that will do us. Because we're just too stupid or cowardly, or lack any political will or guts to change anything about the gun culture in the U.S. For God's sake, what will it take to make people wake up!!! Honestly, I just despair of it ever changing, it just gets worse. I wish they could take the bodies from this latest crime to Washington and lay them at the feet of the congressmen/women who are the biggest supporters of the NRA. Maybe they need to have it made real to them. I mean, if the murdered children in Sandy Hook wasn't enough, what will it take? And it's not just these mass shootings; what about the gun deaths that happen DAILY in the U.S.? I doesn't have to be like this, people. It wasn't like this 50 years ago, so what has changed? More guns? More pissed-off people? More mentally ill people? More violence on TV, in movies, in video games? Whatever it is, can't we work to change it rather than just pray?

How can Americans sleep at night?

Not as well as otherwise,

And don't anyone think for one moment that all the police shooting have nothing to so with the fact that they are jittery as f$%* because every person they interact with could be armed with enough fire power to take out two police cars.

'Indeed, Jimizo. Major empathy deficiency.

Gun-free zones = target-rich environments

Homicidal fantasies, too. Shock, horror.'

How nice it would be to take your sweetheart to see a film and that sweetheart wasn't a firearm.

Another reason to remain an expat.

'Predictably, the steel phallus cult titillate themselves with ghoulish humour'

I get more of sense of serves you right for not taking a bazooka to the cinema. It's....oh, I give up. For people who regard life as cheap, there is no way to reason this.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Sorry, I just don't have the energy to deal with this one. I'll catch you guys on the next one.

Should be Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks for adding value.

The only good thing to come out of this incident is the shooter decided to kill himself.

Thank goodness for gun free zones .... oh, wait .... that's where these shootings keep happening.

Can't expect much for a gun free zone, when guns are free around the zones. That's why all zones need to be gun free.

Thank goodness a couple of teachers in the crowd pulled the fire alarm within minutes so the police got there real quick.

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results - that's America's gun laws.

“What we can do now is we can pray,”

Actually, what you COULD do is something useful for a change -- stop supporting the IRA threats to stop any Obama legislation up and coming that would make guns harder to get. But nah, instead Jindall will use this as an opportunity to BACK the IRA because, hey... this guy could have done the same thing with just his popcorn and milkduds, so long as he had the intention, right? and if everyone in the dark theater had been armed they could have responsibly stopped him.

Another day in America -- a nation that will never learn.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

No one is talking about arming everyone in the room.

Isn't that the goal of the NRA?

3 ( +7 / -4 )

It isn't uncommon for theatres to have an armed security guard or off duty police patrolling entrance and lobby areas, some for only weekends but many for all nights of the week.

That's disturbing. Sounds like your cops need a living wage.

No one is talking about arming everyone in the room.

Phew, what a relief!

'Louisiana Gov Bobby Jindal, who was at the scene, called the shooting “an awful night for Louisiana.”

“What we can do now is we can pray,” Jindal said.'

Good thinking, Bobby. That should sort it. What was it my old priests used to say - god helps those who help themselves ( they weren't talking about rich elites ). Keep the insane gun laws in place and pray to god when innocent people get killed. An insane and hellish state of affairs.

It's completely unheard of in Japan, and it's kind of nice that way.

And this hours after President Obama expresses his frustration over US gun laws. The US needs a real change of attitude and then many years to overcome the blowhards.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Could have been worse he could have set himself on fire that theater would have went up in flames fast still another idiot who harms other people in his suicide

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

And our flags are still at half mast from the last shooting spree. We should leave them at half mast until the gun lobby is crushed

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Well, this brings up something your typical gun fetishist won't want to talk about; the fact that many of these mass shooters are suicidal anyway and so won't be deterred by others being armed. And all that arming everyone would accomplish is more bullets flying around in a dark movie theater as each armed person starts shooting at what he "believes" to be the person who fired the first shot. Of course the gun fetishist won't see it that way thanks to very movies these theaters keep showing. They see every legit gun owner as a Clint Eastwood character that cannot possible be mistaken or miss, especially themselves.

The choices for America are only two really: either follow the path other, safer countries have followed in restricting gun ownership, purchases, storage, etc., or continue to walk the unbeaten trail, which is full of landmines, in the vain hope of creating some gun laden utopia for gun fetishists.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

One reason why I tend to wait for the DVD.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Another one.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Lets try something different. Maybe they should give more people guns. Maybe now they will change the law for good.

Here in Adelaide nothing happens, and they want to change the gun laws. I bet if they do there will be mass more illegal guns meaning people won't give a shit.

No problems here and they keep changing the laws for know reason. In America mass shooting not talking about the 100 a day hand gun deaths 2, and they don't change the law. What a stupid world we live in.
