After Trump leaves for his trip it would be a good time to change the locks of the white house.

By this point it should be blindingly obvious that Trump should have no hand in this process at all.

Let alone glaring conflict of interest, the guy is so breathtakingly oblivious and ignorant. Only days ago it seems he did not even realize the special nature of the FBI director's appointment, blundered through and into it, was then forced to come up with a raft of misdirection to cover up his failings. Apparently he's learned nothing from the episode.

Now he's participating in the damage control? And we're reading a narrative treating this as business as usual?

Crazy.

It'll be fast, can't have the agency leaderless.

I agree, to keep out all of those liberal riff raffs.

By this point it should be blindingly obvious that Trump should have no hand in this process at all.

Because liberals don’t like it?

Let alone glaring conflict of interest, the guy is so breathtakingly oblivious and ignorant.

Did you feel the same about the president 44 when he decided to unilaterally usurp and constantly bypass congress?

Only days ago it seems he did not even realize the special nature of the FBI director's appointment, blundered through and into it, was then forced to come up with a raft of misdirection to cover up his failings. Apparently he's learned nothing from the episode.

He did, keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer.

Now he's participating in the damage control? And we're reading a narrative treating this as business as usual?

He’s the president, remember, the FBI director serves at the pleasure of the president and the president can oversee the process and give input as well.

Trump probably feels pretty confident that he can gut the integrity of the replacement process. His base will peddle his nonsense on demand.

I doubt it, but I think his predecessor was an expert on that.

"But what is so baffling and troubling about Donald Trump's conduct in regard to this investigation is he has it in his power to simply say, 'Here's what occurred, here's what didn't occur. I want to open up my White House. I want to open up my campaign so that investigators can put this behind us quickly and we can move on and we can get on with the business of the country.' He has done exactly the opposite, just as Nixon did exactly the opposite and chosen to impede rather than be open, transparent, forthcoming and helpful to the investigators."

Carl Bernstien in a recent interview.

Sack the FBI director before you even have a replacement, that makes sense. Wasn't the reason for his sacking "being unable to coordinate."?
