If you put money on every nutter attempting or carrying out a killing spree in the US being a radical Islamist, you'd be a very poor man. In the land of the free, every psychopath can grow up with dreams of being a mass murderer, no matter what background, race or creed.

How do you envision people cooking after that? Should they just tear meat apart with their hands and break vegetables, or do you have something else in mind? Because if you don't, banning knives is a ridiculous idea.

No, knives didn't kill anyone in this attack. If the attacker had a gun, people probably would have died. If he had an automatic gun, many people would have died or been injured as collateral damage.

So yeah, ban guns but not knives. Makes sense, dunnit.

Umm I think that was a joke related to the saying, "Guns don't kill people. People kill people."

I think it was more likely the false equivalency that gun-junkies always try to point out when people say that guns should be banned - trying to say that knives should also be banned because they can be used to kill. I was pointing out the stupidity of it. Banning knives means that something that every single one of us relies upon every day could not be done. Banning guns however has no similar equivalency.

Michael Darnell Williams, 44, was booked on Saturday on preliminary charges of assault with intent to murder four times.

Leaving all jokes aside of these people are lucky that this crazy nutcase only had a knife and just stabbed a few people instead of pulling out of gun or a machine gun and having killed everybody on the train!! The idea of this criminal being an Islamic terrorist is not for trenched let me assure you all of the Islamic would be terraced are going to look at this piece of news and say hey this idiot nutcase from some backwards town in the middle of Michigan can get away with this how about some properly trained brainwashed not cases from Saudi Arabia etc. getting on trains and not just United States, this could easily happen in France or Spain or England or heaven for bed here in Japan!!! The guns should only be allowed in the vehicle when traveling to and from hunting, and should be locked and affixed to the vehicle. The guns should also be required to be locked in the home, with ammunition stored in a separate locked area. Hunting permits should also be required, as should background checks, and firearms safety certificates. And only hunting rifles, no handguns, sniper rifles, assault rifles or anything like that. Only that which can be used for hunting animals.

And only hunting rifles, no handguns,-A side arm for a dangerous animal which by the way could be any wounded animal. sniper rifles, -What constitutes a sniper rifle? Some hunting requires a long range accurate rifle. assault rifles -What is an assault rifle? Semi automatic with a 10 round capacity? or anything like that. - Not sure thaw this one is? Only that which can be used for hunting animals. Will you determine what animals? Squirrels to Brown Bears require different types of weapons. The later requires a potent caliber for human safety.

So Guns are okay for hunting purposes but not for target shooting. Hmmm, it's an Olympic sport! And how in the world could a hunter become proficient with a firearm w/o target shooting? Shall we have wounded animals running about until the wound festers and kills the poor creature?

Fact is hammers kill just as dead as a knife does as we've seen this week. And a surprising number of hammers kill Americans each and every year. And most people never kill anyone. what is the missing common denominator?

I don't use a knife to cook, I sometimes use it to eat my food or prepare a salad. But, some people use knives to commit crimes and some people use it for personal protection.

This appears to be the case of police getting called in time to save the day from a 10 year Army vet with mental issues off his meds. Niles is a couple hours from Chicago, close to where I live, and has nothing to do with Islam or terrorism. Competency to stand trial will be determined via a pretrial psychiatric or psychological evaluation so hopefully this guy can get the help he clearly needs. Knives will never be banned obviously. It wouldn't be possible to keep them from military installations in any cases since all bases have military surplus stores for official equipment and supplies.
