Yep, and all the illegals that were in the vehicle are gone. They dont all live at that address, of course.

Instead, they get the license plate and show up later.

There is no high speed chase if the criminal doesnt try to escape law enforcement at high speed. Im just glad no innocent people were hit by these criminals.

driving a car at speeds of 100 miles per hour in an attempt to avoid law enforcement while breaking the law is the cause of this. Not any immigration policy. Just let criminals go if they are willing to drive fast and endanger US citizen and law enforcement lives?

Bingo. Just one more reason why we need tough immigration policy and enforcement of our immigration laws.

Unless you work in law enforcement, and know the conditions they're under at the moment they're dealing with unpredictable criminal acts, it's easy to tell someone else how to do their job when you're not the one doing their job.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that

Sure does seem like it with these kinds of comments.

How the law is being enforced is the cause of this.

Chasing a car at speeds of 160km/ph, full of people is not a wise thing unless it is a terror group with a dirty bomb or something. A bunch of desparate Mexicans died because of the border guards actions. Surely they are not so thick to organize a road block? All you need is a road map and a radio.

Boyd isn't thinking very clearly. High speed chases and border security are mutually exclusive.

> High-speed chases are dangerous for everyone, and there is no need for them except in the most extreme cases, like a risk to the loss of life, catching a violent felon, escaped prisoner.

Sorry their driver chose to kill them. It was his choice to take a chance and run.

This is rural Texas, not downtown L.A. Driving 90 mph isn't uncommon. Lots of interstates have 75 mph speed limits in Tx and some state highways have 80 mph limits.

Why do people think we should just let people do whatever they want?

I don't think anyone is suggesting that.

How the law is being enforced is the cause of this.

So, by your argument, if a crowd of innocent taxpaying church going Trump supporting Republicans get hit by a fleeing vehicle, that is OK. They died in the service of the law, but at least they caught the criminals. Sure, the criminals are dead too.

What if it was your family or friends who were hit during a high speed chase? Feel the same way?

How about a shoplifter?

How about a jaywalker?

How about simple trespass?

All those are crimes. Should we chase them too and endanger the same crowd.

No, smart police departments know that high speed chases endanger their constituents and their officers, so they don't do it. Instead, they get the license plate and show up later.

It's their own fault. I'm not feeling very sorry for people trying to break into the US illegally. Yes, people died, but they made the decision to do things the wrong way that led to this situation occurring in the first place. There are always going to be real world consequences for actions like this. There is another article I've read where some 6 people were found in cabinets being shipped in a truck trying to get into the US illegally. https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/six-illegal-immigrants-found-packed-cabinets/

Why do people think we should just let people do whatever they want? Why shouldn't ICE do it's job in the US??? Laws exist in this country for a reason, and the only people who run from it, is because they're breaking it. I've had to deal with US immigration services previously in my life and will probably be dealing with them again in the near future for people I know. What makes these people so special for breaking the laws, when people I know have to do things the right way?

Sorry, I'm not sorry. I know many other countries that wouldn't have even had this problem because they're even harsher on illegal immigration that the US. So suck it up buttercup, this is the reality.

Looks like the AP needs better writers. These are illegal immigrants.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions over the treatment of illegal immigrants at the southern border. The Trump administration has said tougher illegal immigration policies — even separating children from their parents — are needed to deter illegal immigrants from coming to the country illegally. Over a six-week period ending in May, about 2,000 children had been separated from their families, administration officials said Friday.

"This, I think, is a perfect example, of why are borders need to be secured," Boyd said.

Well, phonetically that may be what he said. But I don't think that's an accurate transcription of what he said.

Many police departments have changed their policies and will call off these types of chases.

This is another "perfect example" of the Trump administration and ICE going full gestapo.
