Just the tip of the iceberg unfortunately, but well done to the Feds!Too many people around Lakemba and Bankstown that feel they are owed a living while spitting on the Australian flag with their mistaken ideals. It is a shame that other muslims in Australia have to suffer because of a few idiots that value other countries (Lebanon especially) and their lifestyle more than that of the country they were born in.

Actually Darren, it doesn't say where the men were born. It says they are on trial in Australia not that they are Australian.

Usual story about immigrants coming into Australia, they love the land but not the people.

Unfortunately America, Canada, and Britain have experienced this too.

The only difference is that in Britain they would have been found innocent, as there is an innocent explanation for everything they were doing, according to them...

No sympathy for them myself, though, unfortunately. You follow the fashions and you sometimes get into trouble. Let's hope they discover why Allah has put them on this planet and let's hope that they can use the rest of their lives helping make other people's existences lighter, not heavier.

Justice Anthony Whealy restricted the media from publishing the men’s names on the Internet.

Huh?

How does that make any sense? And who is "the media"? Is that...like....every media outlet in the world?

Whealy had instructed the jury to put aside any prejudices when coming to its verdict, and to remember the Muslim faith was not on trial.

We need more people like this on the bench. Just stick to the facts.

Hey. Good point SuperLib. It seems like such a nice thing to do and all for these guys, but it isn't,... if these people are dangerous enough to convict, why not do it officially? They were punished on behalf of Australian citizens. Don't Australian citizens have a right to know who they are?

This is bizarre. The whole system is supposed to work transparently. Unless there is some ongoing investigation going on where they are trying to roll something up, the public should know those names.

One is left to wonder. If we don't know who they are, did it ever really happen? Hmm. How do you "stockpile instructions?" And bomb-making materials would be what exactly? Although I don't have weird videos of beheadings and plane crashes, I know that the latter are de riguer on Popular Mechanics and Snopes websites. Watch it once and it is on your harddrive, right? I have a newspaper article cached somewhere on a guy in Australia who built a functioning cruise missile in his garage. I hope that does not incriminate me for anything. Oh well, I can't second guess the jury, because they saw all the evidence, but I wonder what the evidence was. I will never ever know. And nobody will know the names of the jurors. Apparently, these men might be sentenced to life in prison, and about 12 people will know their names and all the evidence that convicted them. Of those people, about what, THREE will able to comment on the case officially.

I guess people are comfortable with that.

Gee, muslims again? What a coincidence. After all, terrorism is an equal-opportunity thing, practised by Buddhists, Bahais and Lutherans likewise.... or so the usual chant by the media goes, doesn´t it?

Ozakdas:

" too many people around Lakemba and Bankstown that feel they are owed a living while spitting on the Australian flag with their mistaken ideals. "

Actually, they are quite right in that, according to islamic ideology. It is called the "jihza". Basically, the infidels must pay the head tax to the muslims in order to be allowed to live.

If you poke around on islamist websites, you find precisely this argument quite openly presented. There is no shame in demanding welfare from the Western infidels, since we owe the the jihza.

So, don´t blame the believers for acting on their religion.

You need to add the IRA, Lord's Resistance Army, Russian National Unity, Tibetan Monks(according to China), Gush Emunim, Aum Shinrikyo and the KKK to the list. Those are religious based groups, not including eco-terrorist and narco-terrorist(who are more active at the moment then Islamic terrorist).

So, yes terrorism is an equal-opportunity thing.

SuperLib: Huh? How does that make any sense? And who is "the media"? Is that...like....every media outlet in the world?

Yes, that is all media outlets. The reason for this is that there is still an on-going trial/investigation in Victoria and the release of their names may unduly influence that case and let those people off. From what I understand, once that case is over and done with, the media will be free to report the names of those convicted.

Oh, and just to add to this, there were another 4 men involved with this who pleaded guilty, so there were a total of 9 all up, but only 5 went to trial. This information has only been released to the media today, after the trial was over, once again to not unduly influence the jury. I must admit that if I were on the jury and knew 4 others in their group had already pleaded guilty, it would certainly influence me to put these other 5 away...

You need to add the IRA, Lord's Resistance Army, Russian National Unity, Tibetan Monks(according to China), Gush Emunim, Aum Shinrikyo and the KKK to the list.

How about we average the number killed by Muslim terrorists over the past decade, and compare them to the number killed by the groups above. So, no terrorism is not an "equal opportunity thing."

Klein2: This is bizarre. The whole system is supposed to work transparently. Unless there is some ongoing investigation going on where they are trying to roll something up, the public should know those names.

I agree with that you're saying, but denying "the media" the right to print the names on the internet just sounds silly to me in practice. It's like trying to block the rain by holding a toothpick over your head. Anyone can publish anything on the internet (obvious generalization), so it's not like denying a small group the right to publish will have any impact in the end.

...and their ideologies are roundly condemned and not excused as "religions of peace". By the way, how many murders has any these raked up in the last, say, year? It is not even remotely comparable.

read some people comment here and in many place on internet.

it always wonder me why most if not all people from this religion try so hard to defense bad muslim with deathly intention and mass murder activity.

instead of stand up and say no to those killing in the name of islam, this people protect and some even support terror act.

then try to everyone that islam is all about peace?

and their ideologies are roundly condemned and not excused as "religions of peace".

Roundly condemned by those who disagree with their given cause. All the terrorist organizations above had thier supporters, with thier justifications.

By the way, how many murders has any these raked up in the last, say, year?

Less murders doesn't make any of them less of a terrorist. At any rate;

Narco-terrorist in Mexico alone, killed 5,612 people in 2008, making Mexico more dangerous then Iraq. http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/mexico/articles/20081215.aspx

Lord's Resistance Army and thier "Christian Soldiers" last Christmas day killed at least 620 and kidnapped 160 children. Over the last decade they have kidnapped 25,000 child and at the height of their rebellion were directly responsible for 127 deaths a day and using HIV/AIDS as a weapon. http://www.scribd.com/doc/5262745/Uganda-The-question-is-Why

I believe that the Lord's Resistance Army and thier "Christian Soldiers" are completely comparable to Al Qaeda and thier "Jihad soldiers".
