This smacks of the same nonsense as the Megaupload prosecution. It doesn't seem to be about money laundering, but rather about governmental control.

Not one of the charges make sense:

He and his four partners, who range in age from 27 to 46, face maximum prison terms of 20 years if found guilty of conspiracy to commit money laundering, as well as up to 10 years on charges related to running an unlicensed money transmitting business.

This digital currency has nothing to do with money = money is handled by a third party.

The big reason for this lawsuit is to go after BitCoin. I never even heard of Liberty Reserve before. But I understand how hard it is for people of some countries (Argentina etc) to get money in and out and look at the huge tariffs (VAT) that some must pay to buy physical gold and silver
