It must insult Mexicans on this site to see that incidents like this generate almost no reaction, in comparison with the outpouring of indignation (?) Canadians, Brits, Aussies and Europeans show on threads about gun violence in America. I would like to apologize on their behalf.

Its not so much that no reaction means we dont care...things that happen closer to home will always catch your attention more.out of sight out of mind..you could easily substitute this story of a mexican shooting with a suicide car bomb in iraq..would be the same reaction (or lack of)

Well, we also have to note that there are two different Acapulos. The same with Cancún, Puerto Vallarta, or any other Mexican beach resort. The tourist strip is quite secure, and is not really connected to the "interior" - the broader region of houses and bars where the "locals" live and eat and drink.

This is where the violence takes place, since even the cartels have a financial interest in pushing their "product" onto tourists. They know better than to sever one of their own revenue streams.

Well at least this will insure that folks like Paris Hilton with their "we aren't hurting anyone by just the occasional toot" rest easily. Where do people like her think the supply chain comes from? Every line in your nose has blood on it.

There is no moral superiority to be had from berating Mexicans.

I am Mexican and do not feel insulted, but more like disgusted. Why?? Because their is so much ignorance here, thinking that people getting high, stoned in the USA, Europe etc..has nothing to do with all of the violence in not just Mexico, but many other parts of Latin America.
