Well, you need to state the reason publically. One of the main functions of government is to protect private propoerty. Thank god for the 2nd amendment right, or cops would assume they could do whatever they wanted with someone else's property. I feel bad for the cops, but why were they attempting to enter this person's private property?

The police had a warrant, which gave them permission to enter the property if only to serve the warrant. Warrants are obtained from judges that weigh the evidence presented and determine whether a warrant is appropriate. This has nothing to do with the Second Amendment or police acting outside of their authority.

Clear, concise, well said and straight forward. What happened?

Sometimes acting like a conspiracy peddling conservative gets old.

Sad news from America Today.

As long as there are guns, such deaths will continue.

NRA-1, police-0.

Police: -1

The same 2nd amendment right which is responsible for the death and injuries to police in this case you mean?

According to Republicans more guns would prevent incidents like this... I apologize if I find their arguments idiotic and genuinely hazardous to the lives of both the police and citizens...

Not to mention forcing the police to be quicker on the draw resulting in the needless loss of lives of civilians as well..

A "bullet-proof vehicle"? I don't think one exists in all of Kumamoto Prefecture. But then, we don't need one.

Sympathies go out to the victims.

"This is simply devastating news from Florence," Gov. Henry McMaster tweeted. "The selfless acts of bravery from the men and women in law enforcement is real, just like the power of prayer is real."

Hmmmmmm......  Who elects these clowns?

Well, what do you expect in the US with its lax gun laws? This is daily news. RIP to the officer lost, but no one should be surprised.

And even if they wouldn’t have guns they would use something else like....knives, so countries have out of control knife attacks, don’t see how that’s even going to solve anything.

Exactly. Us gun nutters know for a fact that knives are as effective as firearms. Just like bolt-action firearms are as effective as semi-automatic firearms.

We can't solve the issue completely, so what's the point if trying to alleviate it?

Bass:. And even if they wouldn’t have guns they would use something else like....knives

Then defend yourself or you home with knives. Unless you think there's a difference?

Murder is not a Constitutional right.

I don’t see anyone trying to amend the Constitution - that’s the point. The rights of the people are not whatever 51% of the people say they are. And don’t give me this BS that the Constitution is an outdated 18th century document that doesn’t apply to today’s problems. The Constitution was written as a reflection of human nature- which is pretty much the same as when man first walked the Earth. The Constitution is a living document in the sense that it has a built in mechanism for change (ie amendments). It has been modified dozens of times.

If guns bother you so much amend the Constitution. The problem is you can’t because the American people support the right to bear arms.

Who needs legislation, or even law enforcement when the power of prayer can cure all ills.

I am not religious myself but I used to be and I have relatives and friends who are. It’s no secret that belief in something, like religion or other types of relationships, motivates people to fight harder for survival. There have even been scientific studies verifying that this is a very real phenomenon. Belief in something greater than oneself is a powerful thing.

Yes, I'm sure he was a fine, upstanding citizen just worried about his property. That's why he was holding children hostage. Because that's what fine, upstanding citizens do when they are worried about their rights being violated: threaten to kill children.

What a frighteningly VIOLENT country America is. And GUNS make it all the WORSE. Parents! -- DO NOT send your children there.

Amending the Constitution is not the only way to alleviate the issues surrounding firearms. Oddly enough, regulation through laws is also an option. But don't let that interfere with your bianary world.

If knives are apparently being just a lethal as guns, why is it that people always choose guns as their weapon of choice?

Obviously because guns are far better than knives at killing.

I'll try praying that no more mass shootings will occur this week.
