This violence must end. The police must be abolished.

@Sneezy
Yeah, all violence will totally end once there are no police. (rolls eyes)

Who said that? What an odd opinion to hold.

Reckless......excellent comments.
When I see the US police on YouTube even doing a random traffic stop they look like they are in Afghanistan.
They have already adopted an 'us against them' mentality.

America is rising.
The people aren't going to take it anymore, the murderous racism that never went away, just festered from generation to generation.

This article fails to mention a vital part of the story:

So it is possible that the police opened fire in self-defence and she was caught in the crossfire. Terrible tragedy, and possible over-reaction by the police, but context is everything. There's also no info about why the police were there. A tip-off, a warrant? Don't know as yet.

And? It's called the 'castle doctrine,' correct?

According to this, the police were serving a 'no-knock warrant,' which meant they didn't even identify themselves before busting down the door. They were in unmarked vehicles, and entered while the occupants were asleep in bed.
In response to armed men breaking down the front door, Kenneth Walker fired one (1) shot. The police, in response, fired 25 to 30 shots... all over the damn place.

So no, it wasn't 'police firing in self defense.' It was police acting like armed thugs, simply because they're the 'law.' And because of it, because of sloppy police work and their actions, a 26 year old EMT is dead.

I appreciate the link and the context, David. I wasn't taking sides but raising a point that the story published in JT didn't include an important fact, either by design or negligence.
Either way, It's still worth asking why the cops had a warrant to enter the house. Either the guy was a suspect in something, or they had the wrong house. Seems to happen quite a bit.
The truth will probably come out, but emotionally manipulative articles like the one here don't help matters, just inflame readers.

When you try to obfuscate in order to give the police the benefit of the doubt after they've murdered someone, you have taken a side.
Ah_so
The irony is that protection against home invasion is of the main reasons given to justify widespread gun ownership in the USA.
As it turns out, having a gun can get you killed.

Sneezy, you might want to familiarize yourself with the concept of devil’s advocate. Just because I didn’t visibly take the side you support, it doesn’t automatically mean I took the cops’ side.
Sneezy
The devil has enough advocates.
When you’re making excuses for murderers, hand-waving the facts of the case and going “uh fine but there must be something we don’t know that justifies this murder”, you’re not being an intellectual. You’re not be even handed. You’re not being objective. You’re placing yourself firmly on the side of authoritarians and killers.
When one side is murdering people, the other is being murdered, and your response is “well I just don’t know who the bad guy is here I’m on no-one’s side”, you’re on the side of the murderers.

sneezy:
Do you think there is less violence if the police is abolished?
Sneezy
If you abolish the police, “This violence”, i.e. violence done by police to citizens, wouldn’t just be reduced, it would disappear.
