"Around four or five balls hit him in the head, but they weren't able to stop him."

How do you remaining standing after being hit in the head by a petanque ball?

"There were around 20 people chasing him. They started throwing Petanque balls at him,"

It’s good to hear that some Frenchmen, native or naturalized, still have balls.

Probably 'pointers', pfff! A good 'shooter' would have hit the target, am tellin' ya!

What is there left to say???

Hopefully all of the victims will make a full and speedy recovery from their physical, and emotional, injuries.

Brave of those people to throw pétanque balls at this nut. Good shot.

Another sad event in France. No doubt IS will be claiming this - hardly reassuring but this is what they're reduced to from the recent massacres.

Crummy thing to happen on holiday.

@Bintaro....2nd that!!! The people of France and of Europe will only tolerate so much before they snap back and good for those that tried to chase this guy down. I love the French countryside. The people are pragmatic, proud of their heritage (make great wine and grow great agricultural products), have always struck me as being friendly and open minded, but I do not think they would stand for their culture and their history being attacked or disrespected.
