The duration of a mass shooting always depents on the arrival of a second gun.

Again. Gun laws maybe?

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Thoughts and prayers.

And again nothing will change in the US, and we will go all over again a few days later with the next mass shooting.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

We need a documentary. Was it black or Asian hate this time again? Need more info.

-6 ( +7 / -13 )

So has America always been like this, with all the mass shootings but they weren't reported? Or is this a new phenomenon. I don't recall mass murders when I studied in the US for a year in the late 90s.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

“We are aware of the tragic shooting at our FedEx Ground facility near the Indianapolis airport. "

Yeah. Kinda being aware of a mass shooting at one of your facilities is important.

Just talked to my nephew. He said all shipments are now stopped to make sure nothing wa loaded on planes to blow, so shipments around the world will be delayed. SMFAH

What the hell is going on on that country?

Thanks God that I am living in Japan, where I feel 100% safe!

13 ( +18 / -5 )

The price of Americans' freedom to have well-regulated militias will always be daily accidents with children, suicides, and mass murders.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Mobile phones regulated, sub machine guns not so much. . .

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Americans are America's greatest threat. They kill and injure more Americans than most wars do. Just head shakingly sad.

15 ( +17 / -2 )

Did anyone else not need to read the headline up to ‘Indianapolis’ to know which country was involved here?

I have so much time for the US but the gun violence is out of control.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Come on, guys... we all know the shooter could have done the exact same thing with a water noodle, so long as he had the intent.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

In one tragic incident, America has exceeded all gun homicides in Japan in 2020. (Maybe even 2019 and 2020 combined.) Heck, even a law that cuts down US gun fatalities by half would be better than the current status quo. But it's not going to happen, is it?

@Kniknaknokkaer

Very sad for the families. but the shooter wouldn't have got very far had others been armed.

WRONG!

Look at the Orlando Pulse shooting that killed around 50. They had armed security. And how come the armed security could not stop Omar Mateen? What happened?

And in Texas today the Legislature passed a law that anyone can carry a handgun without a permit....just like them good 'ole says of the Wild West in 1860...

The Texas House on Thursday gave an initial OK to a bill that would allow handguns to be carried without a permit, marking a win for gun rights activists who have for years pushed the measure at the Legislature..

https://www.texastribune.org/2021/04/15/texas-constitutional-carry/

This is what the gun zealots and their Republican supplicants are bringing to America - a mass shooting on every corner of every city each day....

It happening in the first place depends on the first gun.

Very sad for the families. but the shooter wouldn't have got very far had others been armed.

Wouldn't have got very far had he not been armed.

And how is that working? Considering cases like with Micah Xavier Johnson. If only the five cops he killed in Dallas had been armmmmm......Oh....wait!!

Yes and the five Dallas cops? And perhaps if a person has a shoulder mounted rocket launcher they could have eliminated the threat of Stephen Paddock? Any ideas?

What’s your idea?

Be specific.

“I saw a man with a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open,” Jeremiah Miller said.

I wouldn't believe this if it happened anywhere but America.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

What another mass shooting? Yawn...ZZzzzz

Can't be the guns, must be something else!

Until next time......

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Another day in the U.S......

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The best way to stop all these mass shooting is quite obviously to make it harder to obtain a gun. Putting more guns on the street just makes it easier to have a gun battle.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Came across this goodie...

"Since 1990, the number of firearms per capita in the United States has increased by 50 percent. At the same time, however, the national homicide rate and national gun-homicide rate have plummeted by 50 percent, and the number of non-fatal firearm crimes committed in 2011 was one-sixth the number committed in 1993."

Is it sad, yes. Is it worth getting hot under the collar about, no. If the people of the USA were willing to do something about this the problem would not exist. The solution is not difficult, it has been applied successfully in numerous countries around the world, so if they do not choose to do what is necessary they have to live with the consequences and stop the trite and meaningless public hand wringing and “thoughts and prayers” comments while actually doing nothing concrete.

Anyone thinking of taking a holiday or otherwise travelling to the US should have this hazard brought prominently to their attention like all other warnings of deadly diseases.

Well, it could happen in Afghanistan, or Lesotho, or even Venezuela...which is where the Repubs and gun zealots want to take the US...

No end to American carnage while the people are permanent hostage to the lyin' dog-faced puny politicians of Amerika.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Here we go again! Is this the second shooting in a week?

A sub machine gun???

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Truthfully it isn't weird considering the pandemic had broken many people and push them toward the edge. Many are now at their limits. You mix poverty + guns and you have something very dangerous. Which is also why here in our country instead of mass shooting there are stabbings and suicides. At least here when they go on a rampage they can't get any guns to do it and instead you have crazies who try to use knives to attack koban police. Some even try to steal the gun of the police. We now live in desperate times.

Biden just decreed new gun laws through executive order and yet nothing has changed. How can that be? Is this the new America all talk and no action? How about an executive decree to rebuild families and reduce single parent families? One thing in common among the vast majority of shooters is they are raised without fathers. That’s a crucially important fact that no one wants to address. There is a reason people become violent and the weak American family and a sick culture is what is behind what is happening. The second amendment has always existed in America- the broken culture we see today has not.

Biden said that no amendment is absolute. I don’t completely agree with that (for example black Americans absolutely can’t be denied equal protection under the law) but I agree that the 2nd amendment doesn’t prevent any gun regulations. Oddly it’s political what rights are considered absolute and which are not - abortion comes to mind.

It was the latest in a recent string of mass shootings across the U.S. Last month, eight people were fatally shot at massage businesses across the Atlanta area, and 10 died in gunfire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.

Standard left media subterfuge, In both incidents people were fatally shot, but the Boulder shooter was a ME immigrant..hence the gunfire narrative.

I think Japan is the only one country which has good impression toward the USA now. Other countries are disappointed at the USA after BLM, mass shootings, hate crimes to the Asians, the riot to the Capitol, a lot of death from the Covid-19, unfortunately.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Without the following this (and daily gang shootings will continue to happen often:

Outlaw gun ownership in the US.

Outlaw production and possession of ammo.

Very, very tightly secure all borders.

Anything less is just talk and will not substantially change this issue.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I wish politicians, executives, and the like, would cease saying how "heartbroken" devastated" and etc they are.... or am I being cynical?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Shameful. The USA is such a dangerous place, and getting worse all the time. Any person who willingly visits there for any other reason than business, is a damn fool.

The animal shot himself, as many cowards do. RIP to the innocent people who were murdered.

Another day, another mass shooting.

There isn’t the political will to stop this pandemic in the USA.

“I see a man come out with a rifle in his hand and he starts firing and he starts yelling stuff that I could not understand,” Levi Miller told WTHR-TV. (AP)

And again I am forced to guess, as the suspect is dead from shooting himself just after police arrived at the scene and no identity has been published so far. If it was the media’s darling, the ‘typical white old deplorable NRA activist and Congress storming Trump follower’ they would have printed his name all in big capitals even before he ever has entered the corresponding gun shop. Probably only, of course. ROFL

America is in pain and desperately crying out to be rescued from itself. How many canary in the coal mine victims will it take and how much more hand wringing and hollow platitudes can it stomach before collectively it marshals the necessary national resolve to start asking the hard questions. Second amendment constitutional safeguard true believers need to start connecting the dots that unless they’re prepared to start thinking laterally, and jettison their head in the sand reflexive opposition to sensible gun control, they risk losing everything.

Just another day in "the greatest country that has ever existed", nothing to see here.

I guess you could say they're going back to normal.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

When you live in a country with hundreds of millions of guns and easy access to them, events like this should be described as expected, not shocking.

I mean imagine a hotel that leaves a pound of marijuana on the table in each room, then listen to management express shock that some idiot smoked it and did damage. Seems it would be expected, right?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

this is what happens when you get to buy guns at your corner store

I'd have to drive 4 miles to a sporting/outdoor goods store. Dicks is the closest: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/f/guns They won't firearms ship, but they do have curbside pickup. They will ship pellet/airsoft guns and rifles.

Calling anything "gun control" is a non-starter in the US. Nearly anyone with a firearm will immediately say no.

Call it "safety trailing and access control" so 60% of Americans don't stop listening immediately. Require trigger locks, gun safes, close the person-to-person sales loophole. Require training course completion and periodic retraining.

Until the last 15 yrs or so, we didn't really have weekly mass shootings. There isn't any single thing to blame. I'd suspect it is that news coverage is greater now, video games where shooting people are common, and the internet has made getting more information about almost anything easier. I blame facebook and every search engine made. Also, CNN, CNBC, MSN, Fox News. Some states allow shipping of firearms, for example. The USPS ships them, for example.

If news about all shootings was quashed, they'd end, eventually. People should be using words and punching bags to let any anger out, not bullets.

There is a tremendous amount of ignorance about firearms too:

“I saw a man with a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open,” Jeremiah Miller said.

I'd bet it wasn't an "automatic rifle" or a "machine gun". Almost every firearm available to non-military is a semi-automatic if it isn't bolt-loaded. That just means that pulling the trigger shoots one bullet without having to manually reload the breach. Just because there is a 9-15 bullet magazine, that doesn't make anything "automatic" or a "machine gun." Too much ignorance in the public AND in the law makers.

Indianapolis is a Democrat Run City in the Mid-West with anti-gun laws. FedeX facitity also forbids guns. Jyasuto seiyen'.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

America should be embarrassed of its gun culture

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@oyatoi: America is in pain and desperately crying out to be rescued from itself.

America isn’t crying out in pain. They are crying out in anger. Everyone hates someone else depending on their identity - that’s how the culture is setup. BLM, Antifa, Proud Boys, Dems, Republicans, etc etc without end. America doesn’t want to be united - they want a fundamental transformation and it has been undergoing this transformation for half a century. The shootings, the protests, the rioting, arsons, recent increase in murders and racial tension are all just symptoms of the identity disease.

@oyatoi: America is in pain and desperately crying out to be rescued from itself.

If the Trump years proved anything it's that they don't want to be rescued and want to stay hateful and ignorant
