More Western lives wasted on a stupid mission impossible for a politically correct pipedream. Shame!

I feel for these guys and their families. Really, waste of lives. Why send these young men and women to go and die for people who do not want peace?

No cause huh? I guess we need to await a wikileak in five years or so to find out. Of course, it is totally unimportant for us to know if it was a shoulder launched heat seeking missle or not, cause that might cause new recruits to change their mind about signing up. Don't you people know you are just wheat to be harvested?

"people who do not want peace"

Are you saying most Afghans do not want peace?

He probably just means most of the men actually. They have never known peace. They would not know peace if tied them to a bed and duct taped their mouths shut.

So, the first three posters here think NATO should just pack up and leave Afghanistan to the Taliban who would no doubt once again harbor the likes of al-Qaida whilst preventing girls and women from going to school.

They are doing a very brave job under terrible conditions. The balance could always tip either way.

Should we just let the fanatics have Afghanistan?

Precisely, Proffesor! Perhaps the money-making war industry or the arms-for- drugs black market continues to offer these young lives on the alter of sacrifice for a lost cause.

The fanatics are going to get Afghanistan anyway. The West can not afford to baby-sit the unviable government there indefinitely, and anyway the withdrawal next summer is already decided. All the deaths of the young Westers there between then and now are a crime, that Western leaders should answer for.
