Some other trials will be finishing in December, so some more choices will be possible. Each might be slightly better for people with existing conditions, so more options is good.

Hopefully, by summer, we'll all have the shot(s) after the people who really need them sooner get immunized.

It does not, it has a different virus to deliver the RNA, that is the whole difference. In the mRNA vaccines lipids without proteins encapsulate the RNA, which means they are extremely fragile and cannot be kept for long time without being at ultra low temperatures. In this one the RNA is packaged into an adenovirus, that doesn't usually infect humans, so the RNA is protected by the viral proteins, once inside the cell both work in the same way.

At this point what the world needs is redundancy, each company wants to have the best vaccine ever produced, but for the general public it is just better to have many options to compare price, efficacy and safety. For all we know a 70% efficacy could be enough to break transmission in the general population, and the 90% option could be left for the people in high risk.

I can't wait for life to get back to near-normal (as normal as possible). Unfortunately it will be too late for many people, some of whom died due to others' incompetence, ignorance and selfishness.

Oxford vaccine is being sold at cost price they agreed that it shouldnt be sold at inflated prices to profit off other people misery. cost is around 4gbp per dose

It's great news at the end of a very bleak year. The 70% immunity should be enough to provide basic herd immunity, although those most at risk can take over of the others.

Governments will buy the vaccines and give to their citizens free or affordable prices. Its not about profit making.

Not for the governments, anyway. Pharmaceutical companies are businesses and exist to make a profit for their shareholders. Can't really blame them for that.

As soon as any safe and effective vaccine is available, I am in the Line!

But I didn't expect anything before next year summer in Japan.

vaccines alone cost $20-25, with 2 doses needed. That is just the vaccine. Storage, transportation, staff etc, probably $150 per person.

It does have a virus, that was isolated from chimp poop. I wonder what kind of cell line they are using to produce the vaccine. A monkey cell line? Human fetal cell line? No way I will ever get that vaccine.
