No information about the background of the attacker, so might as well be a radicul Buddhist or Catholic, right?
Blacklabel
Motive not disclosed. Person in custody, but identity not disclosed either.

This is trump’s America. Hate crimes and racist incidents have skyrocketed since trump took office.
Blacklabel
None of which have anything to do with Trump and very very few that are done by Trump supporters. That’s why the names, motives and races of attackers are withheld

zichi (staying away from toxic politics for a second), the BBC reports he burst in through the front door and started slashing away with a machete.

Well, that means the suspect is not a white Trump voter. (If that was the case, disclosure would have taken not one second and guess what the screaming headlines would be.)

Reminds me somehow of the attack on the supermarket in New Jersey recently. A 'Black Hebrew Israelite' hate group it was that time.

Trump isn't to blame for hate crimes and racist incidents. His economic policies, however have been instrumental in the booming economy, which benefits all Americans and everyone else in the U.S.
Jimizo
Hard to say if he is or isn’t. You can say that Trump has certainly given publicity to racist groups. His retweeting of dodgy videos from a minor UK racist organization saw their hits skyrocket on the net. The then UK PM was furious about it.
I’m sure we can all agree he shouldn’t do things like that.
We can, can’t we?

Hate is quite at home in your city.

They can certainly be Christian, as a number of recent attacks against Jewish houses of worship were committed by Christians in the US.
And, that's not how to spell "radical". (At least you spelled Buddhist correctly.)
garypen
He originally tried to get in the synagogue next door, but they locked the doors. So, he apparently just moved on to the next building.

It’s not hard at all to know Trump has nothing to do with African Americans attacking Jews in a liberal run city. Not hard at all to say “he isn’t.”
Jimizo
My reply was to someone commenting on the rise of hate crimes during Trump’s administration.
Your answer doesn’t really deal with this unless you are not in the slightest bit interested in accuracy.
What did you think of Trump retweeting dodgy videos from a racist organization?
coskuri
He is the president and he'd have nothing to do with the country's problem... but everything great he claims he did himself. Very easy. If he doesn't feel concerned, it's really crazy because the victims are a Jewish New Yorker family, just like the Trumps. I dunno the perp. 1% chance he is the ex of the Rabbi's niece, 99% chances he'd have preferred to barge into Ivanka's Hannuka dinner but targetted a less protected house instead.
Blacklabel
It obviously did not cause any of the recent hate crimes against Jews. In fact I don’t know of any hate crimes at all linked to those videos.
CaptDingleheimer
There have been a few attacks a week against Jews in NYC for much of 2019. You just haven't heard much about it in the media because they've mostly been committed by blacks so it doesn't fit the media's narrative of the hateful, angry white male.
Or, as NYC city councilman Joe Borelli recently put it,
“It seems like the outrage ended when they couldn’t tie these hate crimes to Trump.”

Neither do I - not directly anyway. I just think retweeting dodgy videos from a racist organization doesn’t help to reduce tension, not to mention that the President of the US shouldn’t be engaged in spreading fake news trash.
Wouldn’t you agree?

“Reports of anti-Semitic incidents have spiked in the UK this year, according to the Community Security Trust charity that monitors anti-Semitism in Britain.
The group said there were 892 recorded incidents in the first six months of 2019 -- a 10% increase compared to the same period last year and the highest number for the same period since records began in 1984.”
Trump responsible for all this too?
Blacklabel
I honestly don’t care about Twitter if it didn’t directly lead to a violent act in the real world.
SuperLib
In Charlottesville they chanted, "Jews will not replace us." Trump responded by saying there are very fine people on both sides.
Blacklabel
Which has what to do with African Americans attacking Jews in New York all week long?!
thanks to Dem policies the attackers don’t even have to post bail anymore, just get released the next day.

FBI's Wray says most domestic terrorism arrests this year involve white supremacy
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/454338-fbis-wray-says-majority-of-domestic-terrorism-arrests-this-year
FBI Director Christopher Wray said Tuesday that the agency has made about 100 domestic terrorism-related arrests since October, and the majority were tied to white supremacy.
Rise in Anti-Semitic Incidents Goes Beyond Recent Violent Attacks
https://www.wsj.com/articles/rise-in-anti-semitic-incidents-goes-beyond-recent-violent-attacks-11576611407
Incidents have jumped since 2016, with some Jews citing feelings of vulnerability not experienced for generations
The deadly attack in a New Jersey kosher market last week punctuated several years of growing and increasingly violent incidents of anti-Semitism in the U.S., a marked turnaround from declines that had lasted more than a decade.
Jimizo
So retweeting dodgy videos from racist organisations is find as long as no proof of direct is action based on this?
You really do have to lower your standards to defend this man.

Superlib:
Honest question. Since the "fine people" hoax is so particular noxious and blatantely false (as you seen when you read the transcript), please tell us on which outlet saw/heard it. I want to contact them and complain. Is shameful of so-called "news" organizations to spread such blatant lies.
albaleo
I think that's probably true. He's another symptom of the same ugly problem.
I just read this incident has been described as "domestic terrorism" by Governor Cuomo. I'm wondering whether we should distinguish between domestic and other forms of terrorism. Isn't most terrorism directed at people in the same country? (I'm thinking of all the articles on JT of killings around the world that get little in the way of comments. E.g. Truck bomb in Somalia kills at least 76.)
arrestpaul
According to whom? Some random poster on the internet?
arrestpaul
The two attackers of the New Jersey kosher market last week did not appear to be white.
arrestpaul
Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of this attack against 5 Hasidic Jews, and he appears to be black.
