Preferences from UAP and One Nation did help the LNP get over the line and steal seats, but they notably lost Tony Abbott in what can only be described as a savage rout..... and this was called very early in the night with a very large margin to Zali Steggall (-13% swing).

The Libs lost 2 seats but Labor lost 4. So, there was no large landslide movements in this election. but for Labor, a completely abysmal showing in QLD was enough to put it out of reach in a decisive way.

Australia is and will probably remain somewhat conservative, but I do not really see it rewarding or going to the far-right anytime soon...... the far rightists in this election for the most part could only really be described as a total fizzer.

While Clive Palmer did capture about 3.5% of the vote, this did not translate into a seat (in both House of Reps or the Senate) at all.

One Nation did fare a little better, and at this time they may gain a Senate seat but it's not guaranteed nor likely, only that they are "ahead" in counts, but like Cliver Palmer, no House of Reps seat.

Fraser Anning, well, he was a complete fizzer in every sense of the expression and was absolutely nowhere near in gaining any House of Reps seat, nor even retaining his own Senate position.

So, in summary, the movements were extremely small, but they just weren't in Labor's favor, and that's all it takes.

Didn't help that Bob Brown took his jobs destroying tour through QLD days out from election.

We made a huge mistake by not investing far more heavily in education a long time ago. We now have a populace that is easily fooled by con men. 

Well as far as education is concerned, that’s the thing of the past, schools now teach about identity politics and is in the business of the metoo movement and teaching people how to be part of the grievance crowd. Now you know why more and more people are people homeschooled, liberals have completely and totally destroyed the public education system.

No, we want equal education where not one ideology prevails over another and where they students things like....uh, reading, writing, math, science civics, ethics, religion (if they so choose) fair, no political stance as in telling a child what or how they should think or feel about a person and not focus exclusively on gender and identity politics and if men have the right to compete with women as women. But yeah, the way liberals are indoctrinating our children nowadays it’s like North Korea.

IMHO, had Labor narrow it down to a wage rise, something the LNP would never offer, they would have romped it in. Instead, they wanted to wack retirees, investors, and those whose rely on capital gains.

Oh, fat Clive will be getting something off the LNP down the track, put your house on it. You don't spend $50 mill on an election - after having held meetings and done preference deals with the government- for nothing.

As for Morrison, I wonder if he will bring more lumps of coal into parliament and proclaim "coal is the future"! He's a morally bankrupt grub, and it won't be long before people realise slick advertising slogans don't make for good government.

The Left continue to focus on differences and demonizing White people instead of uniting and stressing commonalities. Even when Whites are no longer majorities in some Western countries they will not disappear completely. We all still have to live together. The Left is driving their own fringe and the other side to extremism because both sides are being led to believe that citizenship is a zero sum game. It’s not.

Oh, please. Read the results we have properly. The coalition has so far won 74 seats and needs 76 in order to form a majority government. 5 seats are still in doubt. In the previous two elections held in 2013 and 2016 the coalition were both able to form government in its own right. Therefore, overall the coalition has so far done worse than before. Of course at the end they can still form a minority government or even a majority government. The polls did get it wrong but I do not think the coalition should be celebrating like they have won a landslide.

An election was held in Australia. I wonder how many Australian voters were influenced by the U.S.A.s Mueller report?

Opinion polls prior to Saturday's election had suggested that the coalition would lose and that Morrison would have had one of the shortest tenures as prime minister in the 118-year history of the Australian federation.

What's this? The opinion polls were wrong? Again? What are these so-called opinion pollsters doing wrong? And just who are these polling companies polling? Regardless of whomever they are currently polling, maybe these polling companies should try a more unbiased choice of samples?

Australia has universal healthcare for all. A large majority of medication is subsidized. Those on age pension only pay a maximum of $4.50. The rest pay around $28. People don't go broke when they're sick or need surgery. And guess what in 2017, the Australian government spent less on healthcare per capita than the US ($4,543 vs $10,224). It shows that don't have to be socialist or communist to have decent healthcare.
