Give him the maximum: 1 year each non concurrent for the two counts of guilty and $100,000 each for the same.

Not only did he not obey the subpoenas, but he flaunted it in his podcasts, laughing at the law. Make an example of him for all the others who do not obey their own subpoenas.

I stand with Trump and the Constitution

You can only do one of those things.

So the show trail continues. A kangaroo court for a corrupt system.

-24 ( +8 / -32 )

He should have just cooperated in the first place. Nobody can be above the law.

16 ( +22 / -6 )

Great! So now the Dems claim they want to show Bannon that no one is above the law and that he “could” face jail time for defying a subpoena, and refuse to cooperate then that means when the Republicans take over in November and hold their own hearings on many of these Democrats like Pelosi, Schiff and others they must know of they defy any court order they can meet the same fate. Good to know.

Democrats cheered when Harry Reid blew up the Senate filibuster, that undoing is what helped Trump and McConnell to get over 300 lower circuit conservative court judges on the bench as well as 3 Supreme Court justices, so thank you, Harry Reid. Conservatives will be indebted to you forever.

That’s how it works. Not sure what Mr. Bannon was thinking.

Sloppy Steve . . . Isn't that what Trump called him?

Sloppy Steve's day will come. Hopefully, the backup systems in the White House were able to retain most of the missing transcripts and conversations which mysteriously, hahaha, disappeared in the Trump White House.

If you have nothing to hide, then why hide it?

14 ( +20 / -6 )

Another political prisoner. How can the USA claim moral superiority with so many political prisoners?

Nobody can be above the law.

Fun fact: All political prisoners, including those in China and Russia, have "broken the law." People who repeat lines like "the law is the law" are just avoiding the fact that they support injustice.

-24 ( +6 / -30 )

good news

12 ( +18 / -6 )

Never understood why they just didn't pull a Martin Shkreli and just pull the "under advice from my lawyer...blah, blah" when the panel asks anything of them.

Showing contempt within the law would have been a better path I would have thought.

And yes, I think all senators and 95% of the house are contemptible.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

To ‘imagine’ not to ‘know’.

If they committed crimes go for it. What charges do you imagine they’ll be investigating in your imaginary hearings?

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Another Trump loser going to jail.

15 ( +20 / -5 )

MAGA-world must be rejoicing - the hated Bannon who had the audacity to cooperate with Michael Wolff and light up Trump and his family in his book with gems like; "He's just another scumbag who runs a criminal enterprise", "Ivanka is as dumb as a box of rocks", and "Don Jr and Jared should be charged with treason for meeting with Russians at Trump Tower".....

https://www.thedailybeast.com/bannon-trump-will-fall-when-people-realize-hes-just-another-scumbag

Wow, Trump had to fire him; "Trump lashed out at his former chief strategist Steve Bannon on Wednesday, accusing him of having “lost his mind” after the one-time aide made explosive accusations against the president and his family in a new book. “Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my presidency,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/03/donald-trump-steve-bannon-lost-his-mind

Then there's the whole "Build the Wall scam where he fleeced Trump's supporters out of millions that went to building his yacht....

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/-build-wall-leaders-worked-bannon-plead-guilty-fraud-rcna25498

They must be dancing in the streets this "traitor" is going off to jail....right?

4 ( +10 / -6 )

Commanteer - how do you think contempt charges should be treated?

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Actually, it is a win because once the GOP takes over and launches their investigations

Investigating what?

and if liberals defy it then we know we have the full power and weight to enforce it.

It was always that way.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Actually, it is a win because once the GOP takes over and launches their investigations and if liberals defy it then we know we have the full power and weight to enforce it. Now the Dems made another gold standard like Reid, I think they’re going to really regret this day. So I definitely look forward to it.

I think everyone here is in agreement that subpoenas should not be defied and if one chooses to do so, that there are consequences. This is a win for democracy and the rule of law. So, as long as one is in favor of those things, then yes, this is a win.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Investigating what?

The ones coming for the Dems

It was always that way.

No, sadly it wasn’t.

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

Investigating what?

The ones coming for the Dems

Investigating what? You know you can’t investigate ‘The Dems’.

You’re going to need something a little more specific than that. A crime and evidence of said crime would be a good starting point if you’re having trouble.

I imagine that’d involve specific people rather than just ‘the Dems’.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Mr. Bannon could have just shown up and plead the 5th on every question the committee asked. It would have been over and done with. Instead he created this whole circus mostly for his own self aggrandizement. You can see there are even people who post here who fell for his song and dance and believe ever lie he tells.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Another in the list of criminals the supposed party of law and order supports and respects.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

I’m with Avenger, a year each - have them run consecutively. Boy wouldn’t that be a shock to Steve’s liver? This is unlikely BUT,...

Given that Stevie is in the eyes of the law a felon by way of accepting a pardon, He might well be sentenced to more, possibly much more that the 39 day min.

AND,.. No electronic devices, no internet access, no podcasting . So, to use a turn of a phrase, “no signal OR noise”. Just blessed silence...

And I would go one better and make his post relief monitoring contingent upon staying dry and away from known Seditionists.

Boy, Stevie would get pretty lonely pretty quickly.

Hell, his greeter job at Walmart (the only job he’s going to be able to get) would not only help him pay his court ordered restitution, it might help him meet people.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Mr. Bannon could have just shown up and plead the 5th on every question the committee asked. It would have been over and done with.

Yeah, I kinda agree. But like Holder he was held in contempt, but unlike the Republicans pursuing to indict him the Dems did it with Bannon, I don’t think the Republicans going forward will make that mistake again.

-12 ( +4 / -16 )

Concerning Ashley Babbit, the female rioter lawfully shot and killed by a police officer when she attempted to breach the final barrier separating the insurrectionists from Congress;

One cannot help but notice how big and tough these men were. “We are ready to lay down our lives for this!” Blah blah blah....

Then, SUDDENLY, they became feminists and decided to have a woman be the first one through the breach.

THEN, after she got shot, they SUDDENLY “reconsidered” their life choices.

Real profiles in courage, these friends of Steve turned out to be.

Bet Steve displays the same level of courage after he spends a night in the tank.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

No due process

Bump your head, did you?

Missed that whole, subpoena, referral, indictment, trial, conviction (in less that 3 hours!) thing?

Stevie got his trial and day in court.

He was convicted because he’s guilty. He did what he was accused of and that is a crime.

My guess that’s not the first defense desk he’s going stand at and he’s going to have some high level company soon.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Concerning Ashley Babbit, the female rioter lawfully shot and killed by a police officer

Who has a record of firearm misuse to shoot dead 5,1 ft woman with no weapons? Again, the Dems need prepare for what’s headed their way.

One cannot help but notice how big and tough these men were

Or this so called sham committee. Kinzinger is out and Los seems on the way out. So some encouraging news there.

Bet Steve displays the same level of courage after he spends a night in the tank.

And then as he said, if that happens and when he gets out, he’s going to do his best to defeat this Democrat machine. That does given him the incentive and fortitude.

-10 ( +4 / -14 )

Shooting looked at multiple times by the relevant jurisdictions, ruled a good shoot.

Perhaps Bass missed the mob right behind her. He seems to think that it was one innocent girl who blithely wandered into the wrong place and was cruelly gunned down.

Yeah, that’s not what happened. Unfortunately for Trump and his rubes, there’s video to back the shooting as justified.

But given that their other claims are being battered like a Trump-shaped Piñata at a birthday party, they predictably begin pivoting to the oldies.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Concerning Ashley Babbit, the female rioter lawfully shot and killed by a police officer

Who has a record of firearm misuse to shoot dead 5,1 ft woman with no weapons? Again, the Dems need prepare for what’s headed their way.

How do you know the officer that shot Babbit was a 'Dem"? Prove it...

One cannot help but notice how big and tough these men were

Or this so called sham committee. Kinzinger is out and Los seems on the way out. So some encouraging news there.

Who is "Los"?

Bet Steve displays the same level of courage after he spends a night in the tank.

And then as he said, if that happens and when he gets out, he’s going to do his best to defeat this Democrat machine. That does given him the incentive and fortitude.

How ? By saying Trump is a "scumbag" who's son is guilty of "treason" to the Russians?

The only thing Bannon is going back to is fleecing you and the other Trump supporters out of your money with his "Build My Yacht" scam....

ROFL...

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Bass: Again, the Dems need prepare for what’s headed their way.

Whats that? You've already already gone on record to the that the FBI, DOJ, and Congress can't be trusted with investigations.

Should we suddenly forget about that stuff with Democrats are investigated?

I'm guessing your going to do a 180 and expect us to forget about it.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Concerning Ashley Babbit, the female rioter lawfully shot and killed by a police officer

Who has a record of firearm misuse to shoot dead 5,1 ft woman with no weapons? Again, the Dems need prepare for what’s headed their way.

She got EXACTLY what she deserved. An insurrectionist attempting a violent takeover of the Capitol.

Unarmed- get over yourself, no-one knew if she had a gun or not and those smashing down the barricades with all sorts of weapons trying to attack democratically elected officials were and are traitors.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

But back on Topic (golly, wonder why one would want to distract from the quick conviction of Trumps’s biggest rube?)

Steve is the poster boy for Trump’s fascist attempted coup and make no mistake, Trumpism = Fascism. So says former GOP congressman Joe Scarborough.

As such, Steve thought he could thumb his nose at the law. He thought wrong.

This is a round defeat for Trumpism (the second of many -the first being Trump’s own election loss).

There’s no other way to spin it though Trump’s sycophants will give it a try

7 ( +8 / -1 )

If ever there was an example of the old trope, "There's a sucker born every minute", it has to be MAGA-world....

Trump scammed his supporters for four years, and continues to this day with his "Defend the Election" rip off that sends money to his properties...

“If EVERY Patriot chips in $5, President Trump will have what it takes to DEFEND the Election and WIN!” said the email that was transmitted on 10 November – three days after Biden’s victory had been sealed. There was only one problem with this epic flurry of emails: the Official Election Defense Fund did not exist. As the House committee investigating the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol revealed in a public hearing this week, Trump and his allies raised $250m from the emails by persuading loyal followers to donate to a chimera.

There was no fund dedicated to fighting election battles as part of Trump’s mendacious and ultimately vain “big lie” that the presidency had been stolen from him. Instead, the money went into Trump’s new fundraising entity Save America Pac, from where millions of dollars were distributed to pro-Trump organizations including his own hotel properties and the company that produced the Ellipse rally in Washington on January 6 just hours before the storming of the Capitol.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jun/18/donald-trump-election-defense-fundraising-defrauded-fans

And good 'ole Steve-O and his two partners who came up with the "Build the Wall" hustle - where they said they'd help crowd-fund the wall on our southern border....and then used the money for yachts and Cancun vacations...

“We Build the Wall” campaign crowd-funders Brian Kolfage and Andrew Badolato pleaded guilty Thursday for their roles in pocketing donations solicited to help build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico. The indictment goes on to say he “covertly” took more than $350,000 for his personal use while Bannon used a nonprofit group under his control to receive $1 million from the campaign to pay Kolfage and personal expenses.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/-build-wall-leaders-worked-bannon-plead-guilty-fraud-rcna25498

One wonders how Trump supporters can stand the humiliation...

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Commanteer - how do you think contempt charges should be treated?

In this case? Contempt is the only moral response to a political show trial. I would engage more, but the comments here cheering the murder of an unarmed woman disgust me.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Shooting looked at multiple times by the relevant jurisdictions, ruled a good shoot.

And never challenged the legality or given the reason why and yet, the Dems want to know every word and every text from people that were involved in the trespassing. Still, the other way around, nothing to see and you don't have the right to know because we are Democrats and say so. Yeah, hold on to that stance for the next few months.

Perhaps Bass missed the mob right behind her.

That has nothing to do with her, so you just shoot fellow Americans that are unarmed, I would say that is insane, but given the fact, liberals are ok with any sort of violence as long as it doesn't befall them.

Yeah, that’s not what happened.

Yes, that is exactly what happened and no amount of denial, turning channels, blocking, deleting or celeb support will change that crucial fact.

Unfortunately for Trump and his rubes, there’s video to back the shooting as justified.

So what about the other 1500 hours that are missing, we don't need a sham committee to tell us what THEY want us to see, we can see and judge for ourselves.

But given that their other claims are being battered like a Trump-shaped Piñata

No, that's what the left thinks and while they continue this circus, the GOP are tightening the political noose all over the country for their much-anticipated takeover. we all need the break.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Steve is the poster boy for Trump’s fascist attempted coup and make no mistake, Trumpism = Fascism. So says former GOP congressman Joe Scarborough.

Scarborough??? ROFL Anyway, Bannon was nowhere near the Capitol, this just gets better and better.

This is a round defeat for Trumpism

Actually, not even close, Bannon will appeal so even if he does have to go to jail, he can appeal and fight it, so the left should hold off with their celebrations for now. But I like his warrior-like attitude, "if I have to go to jail, so be it, it won't stop or break me!" Now that's a man.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

And never challenged the legality or given the reason why and yet,

Lol Because there is no question of the legality. If Babbit, or whatever the fruitloop's name was, didn't want to get shot she shouldn't have attempted to storm the house chambers. It's funny how big a game they all talked about revolution, and fighting back, and taking names and kicking *ss; well what do you expect if you want to be part of a revolution? Karma.

the Dems want to know every word and every text from people that were involved in the trespassin

Try sedition. Not simply trespassing.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Shooting looked at multiple times by the relevant jurisdictions, ruled a good shoot.

And never challenged the legality or given the reason why and yet

Criminal trespass. Refusing an order that ended with lethal force.

Nothing complicated about it.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Actually, not even close, Bannon will appeal so even if he does have to go to jail, he can appeal and fight it, so the left should hold off with their celebrations for now. But I like his warrior-like attitude, "if I have to go to jail, so be it, it won't stop or break me!" Now that's a man.

He can appeal it. Or take it like a man, warrior grrrr. Or appeal it. Which one is more macho? Not so long ago you were claiming he’d never see prison time.

Now he’s an alpha male bucking the system and taking his time like a man. Oh boy….

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Whats that? You've already already gone on record to the that the FBI, DOJ, and Congress can't be trusted with investigations.

The top echelon ones that worked on behalf of the Dems to take out Trump of course not.

Should we suddenly forget about that stuff with Democrats are investigated?

I'm guessing your going to do a 180 and expect us to forget about it.

No, not me, but I do know the majority of FBI agents have expressed low morale and deep concern about the tarnished reputation that the agency has and that many of the top leaders are helping and siding with Democrats, so while I think most are honorable, the very top needs serious pruning.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

He can appeal it. Or take it like a man, warrior grrrr.

Yes.

Or appeal it.

Yes.

Not so long ago you were claiming he’d never see prison time.

And he may not.

Now he’s an alpha male bucking the system

Just like the Dems.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Let’s get Steve some cell mates. He must be lonely.

My guess is he won’t be lonely for very long.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I would engage more, but the comments here cheering the murder of an unarmed woman disgust me.

The tragedy in this situation is that this woman was inspired and manipulated by a narcissistic traitor who would rather see democracy destroyed than admit he lost a free and fair election. If there is blame to be apportioned, it belongs with him and the more than 3 hours he refused to do a single thing to protect the leaders inside the Capitol. He created the conditions that allowed the duped MAGA zombies to attack leaving the defenders and lawmakers inside outnumbered and in fear of their lives. Where is the disgust for that?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Who has a record of firearm misuse to shoot dead 5,1 ft woman with no weapons? Again, the Dems need prepare for what’s headed their way.

Anyone participating in an armed sedition in an attempt to overthrow the democratic process in a coup can only expect and deserve to be shot.

So says the real party of law and order, the Democrats.

Also the party of fiscal responsibility.

And the party that respects the right of women to own their own bodies.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Now he’s an alpha male bucking the system

Just like the Dems

The ‘Dems’ are all alpha males bucking the system? Do they have a ‘warrior-like attitude’ too or are you just confused, again? If your response to everything, including things you post is ‘yeah but the Dems’ it’s a little worrying.

When was your last medical? Those are signs of a stroke.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

there was never going to be any outcome other than this verdict.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Criminal trespass. Refusing an order that ended with lethal force.

Nothing complicated about it.

But with Colbert's staff and to the disappointment of the Capitol Security police, the people that lied and did the very same thing, get off?

LOL, anyway, enjoy the few months left, and then these conversations will be in the archives for people to laugh and reminisce about.

She got EXACTLY what she deserved.

No, she absolutely did not deserve to get shot.

An insurrectionist attempting a violent takeover of the Capitol.

It wasn't anything of an insurrection, it was trespassing, a misdemeanor at best.

Unarmed- get over yourself,

Not me, I am not the one that staged a sham committee to try and play up to the base whose only goal is to try and make sure Trump doesn't run. The people that are doing this are the real traitors, they know they don't have a candidate that can win on any of the issues they are trailing so what do they do? Well, they go after former Trump officials and just pray something might stick even if it is 30 days in some local jail, which may not even happen.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

The ‘Dems’ are all alpha males bucking the system? Do they have a ‘warrior-like attitude’ too or are you just confused, again?

Ask the committee that, I actually want to know.

If your response to everything, including things you post is ‘yeah but the Dems’ it’s a little worrying.

So you are saying, forget one political party, the party that is in charge destroying the country in every conceivable way and ignore it because you guys have it for conservatives and Bannon? Not a chance. The Republicans are not the ones in charge which makes all of this so bewildering.

When was your last medical? Those are signs of a stroke.

Ask the Senior leaders of the committee those questions.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

it was trespassing, a misdemeanor at best.

You're having a laugh.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

there was never going to be any outcome other than this verdict.

Because he did it. He’s guilty.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

like Holder he was held in contempt

Unlike Holder, Bannon did not hold a position in an administration at the time of the matter under investigation, and cannot claim executive privilege.

Bannon is supposed to be an intelligent man. He must have known this basic legal principle, but I guess he thought his neck would be saved by his “warrior” status in the MAGA mediaverse.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

there was never going to be any outcome other than this verdict.

Well yeah, because he's guilty. There's no doubt about it. He was subpoenaed. He refused to comply. He was convicted, and now he's facing jail time. Don't commit crimes if you don't want to go to jail.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Contempt of Congress. Has anyone here actually looked at the US Congress and the corrupt clowns who run it? Anyone with a brain has contempt of congress.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Bass: No, she absolutely did not deserve to get shot

Oh well. She got shot ads the cop got away with it. Pretend she's black and you'll get over it a lot faster.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Contempt of Congress. Has anyone here actually looked at the US Congress and the corrupt clowns who run it? Anyone with a brain has contempt of congress.

Anyone who has contempt of congress deserves jail.

I thought you people were the party of law and order? Now you are saying that disregard for the rule of law, and an order of congress is the path of intelligence? And you have respect for this man who needed a presidential pardon for his previous conviction, and now is going to jail after being convicted again?

I'm not sure how you expect people to respect your opinions, when your opinions are that democratic principles should be ignored because... well actually you haven't said why. Just that only intelligent people would be ignoring the rule of law.

Nice to see you support democracy.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

But I like his warrior-like attitude, "if I have to go to jail, so be it, it won't stop or break me!" Now that's a man.

Indeed - then you must really enjoy these warrior Bannon comments;

“This is where it isn’t a witch hunt—even for the hard-core, this is where he turns into just a crooked business guy, and one worth $50m instead of $10bn,” Bannon is quoted as saying about Trump. “Not the billionaire he said he was, just another scumbag.”

“Trump was vulnerable because for 40 years he had run what increasingly seemed to resemble a semi-criminal enterprise. I think we can drop the ‘semi’ part.”

Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic” “The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor – with no lawyers. They didn’t have any lawyers. They should have called the FBI immediately.”

“You realise where this is going,” he is quoted as saying. “This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.”

anyway….

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

And change that exact point when the Republicans take over, we shall see if all of that allegation stacked up or if it was just political fodder and an attempt to take out anyone in Trump’s circle. We should know very soon.

Attempting revenge without any actual evidence or legal backing kind of sounds like a ‘witch-hunt’.

https://www.politico.com/story/2012/06/holder-held-in-contempt-of-congress-077988

As I said:

Couldn't find any record of them being convicted of contempt of Congress

Nothing in your article changed that.

See the difference is, your boy is a criminal, whereas Holder is innocent.

Unless you believe in Guilty until proven Innocent, which, you do think the election was stolen and support the coup, so presuming someone guilty without being convicted definitely seems up your alley.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Get ready for the Great MAGA-U-Turn...

You see it when a formally loyal, "the best", true patriot says or does something that is opposite to the MAGA-group-think...

Bannon has already been a victim of the MUT, when he royally dissed Trump in Wolff's book - and went from patriot to scum...

Since he's already shown how disloyal he is, you can bet that Bannon is already looking at cutting a deal to avoid jail, cooperate, and spill his guts on Trump. What better explanation for his non-defense in this case. He's already negotiating with the prosecutor...

And then we'll see the MAGA-warriors here suddenly switch from Bannon hero, to Bannon traitorous dog....

And we can re-post all their Bannon praise....ROFL....

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Attempting revenge without any actual evidence or legal backing kind of sounds like a ‘witch-hunt’.

And who’s going to stop them? Pelosi, the minority leader? With even less power than ever.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

So long, Steve! Enjoy Leavenworth. I hear it's beautiful in the fall!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

And who’s going to stop them? Pelosi, the minority leader? With even less power than ever.

you think the house or senate has the power to stop the DOJ, they dont, only the president can fire the AG, the mountain of evidence from the Jan 6 hearings, the DOJ investigation is ongoing, at least 2 more years. lol

8 ( +9 / -1 )

And change that exact point when the Republicans take over, we shall see if all of that allegation stacked up or if it was just political fodder and an attempt to take out anyone in Trump’s circle. We should know very soon.

you make it sound like the house/senate has the power to stop DOJ investigations, they dont. lol

the jan 6 hearings have been a huge rating bonanza second only to the superbowl, Trump is done, many republicans are dumping him for Desantes, Even Mitch McConnell said Trump isnt a shoe in for the primaries
