At one point, August 2nd the date Pelosi arrived in Taiwan, the  People's Liberation Army had made more than 21 incursions into Taiwan’s ADIZ and had begun push the median line.

The 'targeted military operations' and subsequent six point blockade had the whole Taiwan Strait choked by joint air and sea drills in the north, southwest and southeast of Taiwan.

These so called red lines had all shipping access to the Taiwan Strait suspended.

Whatever the Government of China intentions, there is no denial of the incisions into Japan ADIZ, and threat of future blatant attempts to provoke a response.

Would US administration go to war?

Or try to find a diplomatic solution?

No, control of the Taiwan Strait would allow an aggressor the primary route for shipping lanes passing from China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and so all points west.

The majority of the width of the Taiwan Strait is international waters. The moment China tries to assert control and close the straits to any other user they risk a naval and air war. The US would certainly challenge any such claim by China by sending US Navy and Coast Guard ships into the straits. If China challenged tried to stop them it would quickly have a war on its hands. China knows this too.

Incidentally such a move would immediately make it impossible to insure ships using Chinese ports. The threat of loss due to seizure or sinking would be too great. It would decimate China's foreign trade.

Such comments are nothing but the fevered dreams of beijing fanbois.

The forked tongue comes out of Xi yet again. No US tech company operate in China vs Chinese companies openly, freely operating in USA, often with severe national security implications (tiktok). Why not condemn this first?

This is a make belief comment: Suppose the communist country United States of America is called China. And, China the democratic country is called the United States of America. And Taiwan is an island off the coast of the U.S.A. that wants to be an independent country. But, the U.S.A. claims it is American territory and threatens to take it by force. Would China send its Army, Navy and Airforce across the Pacific Ocean to fight the U.S.A, to save Taiwan? I think China would rather mind its own business.

So far China has not had the military capability to mount an invasion with a reasonable chance of success across the narrow Straits of Taiwan.

You ignore the strong ties between the US and Nationalist China rooted in fighting Japan, a relationship nourished by Chiang Kai-shek's late wife who spoke perfect southern accented English and spoke to the American people frequently about the plight of the Chinese at the hands of the Japanese before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Taiwan is the remnant of that close wartime ally and the US retains a great affection for Taiwan. Do not think for a second the US public or any member of the government could turn a blind eye to a Chinese attack on Taiwan. Support for Taiwan is about as universal and bipartisan and anything ever gets in the US.

As to the meeting, what I saw was a supplicant (Biden) meeting his superior. Xi was standing and waiting in the middle of the stage, Biden approached for the handshake. The body language told the story.

Well did he ask Xi about the origins of COVID or not? If so, how forcefully?

guess we will never know. But liberals are certain that Biden laid down the law as super tough guy.

While I expect he fell asleep at least once and half of what he said the interpreter just gave up to try to interpret.

So, Biden had to officially repudiate himself over Taipei, and pretend to not be trying to relitigate America's loss of the post-Cold War era through attempts to reverse China's economic, technical, and trade advancement.

And all he got was an agreement to allow low level government officials to communicate with each other.
