Yes zichi, shame on me, UK tax payers have probably supported Ukraine upwards of £1.2 billion.

Also 25,500 visas to Ukrainian refugees, although there needs to oversight on the sponsorship program

Meet the pro-Putin Republicans and conservatives

Yeah, as if anyone takes Jeb Bush, Bill Krystol, and Tim Miller seriously. These people couldn't get elected if they were the last pool of the pick on the planet. ROFL

A tank can shoot only 3 miles at the most at a target, cost 40 more more times than field artillery,a tank value is degrade in modern battle,no more than a steel coffin

Different tools for different jobs. Artillery is not mobile and only I think two expensive self propelled artillery pieces can hit a moving target. Artillery has no armor protection either. Modern tanks like the M-1A2 with TUSK and especially the M-1A3 or the Leopard 2 A6 are highly mobile and well protected. In fact no crew member has ever died in an M-1 series tank and many have been hit in combat. The Israelis have only lost a handful of crew in their Merkava 4 series tanks. The Turks are using an older version of the Leopard 2, the A4 which lacks the latest armor and is not protected for urban warfare the way the Leopard 2 A6 and M-1A2 with TUSK are. The Turks are also fighting with tanks in urban areas without supporting infantry, leaving they vulnerable to hits from the side and rear by anti-tank weapons that a Leopard 2 A6 or M-1A2 with TUSK would defeat, lessons from the German's and American's experience fighting in Afghanistan). The Turks have an older version of the Leopard 2 optimized for armored warfare in open plains that lacks many features from the later A6 variant.

Russian tanks have multiple shortcomings not the least of which are the 20 rounds of main gun ammo carried inside the turret for the auto loader. American and German tanks put the ammo in a separate compartment at the rear of the turret behind a titanium bulkhead with a blow off panel on top. If the ammo bustle takes a hit the bulkhead protects the crew and the blow off panel allows the blast to be vented upward. This is combat proven to save crew members.

The Russians do not have the composite armor technology the US, UK and Germany have. Example, a direct hit from an M-1A2 with APSFDS that would blow up a T-72 at 1500 meters will not penetrate the armor on another M-1A2. Hellfire won't defeat it either. The US had some of their Abrams disabled early in the Iraq war by RPG shots to the engine compartment that disabled them (TUSK uses slat armor to defeat RPGs and other anti-tank rounds). The US tried to blow them up using another Abrams. Didn't work. The armor wasn't penetrated. Hellfire didn't blow it either. They had to call in an F-16 and use an AGM-65 Maverick to blow the disabled Abrams so the bad guys would not exploit it. Pretty tough tank. The Russian stuff is dangerous but not the US and most recent German tanks.

Thanks for the source, Zichi. I know we do have some Americans who are pro-Putin, but the majority are not.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

This US Administration, people have stood up and supported Ukraine.

Can that be said about there European allies.

I think Not,

Putin daughter is trying to to flee Russia,

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Don't defend democracy, run away from it...

Ok, invading another nation is wrong we all know that, but we need to ask ourselves a real serious question, which country is diplomatic?

https://www.cato.org/commentary/whitewashing-ukraines-corruption

which is what these US far-right Putin fan-boys really want...

No, no conservative supports Putin, but Zelenskyy and his country have also done questionable things so is it wise to back one over the other despite both countries having abysmal records when it comes to democracy.

I'd say that was the surrender strategy...

Did Biden give those MiGs to Zelenskyy?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

so Russia wont capture some/most of these and give them to China to reverse engineer our tech?

The vast majority of weapons given Ukraine are going to detonate on Russian targets. It is not accumulating in a stockpile somewhere. They are expending it as fast as the NATO allies can send them equipment. It is a silly argument when our own US Army does not track their own ordnance in a combat zone. Soldiers in combat do not have time or inclination to track serial numbers of individual missiles, mortar or artillery rounds or ammo lots before they shoot them. Once it is issued to a combat unit it is considered to be expended.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

There's a small possibility that some of the weapons may end up in Russia, but

ATGM and MANPADS delivered in Ukraine by thousands and tens of thousands.

1)     Ukrainian forces have no training for such weaponry. Sometimes it’s to complicated for them.

2)     They lost more and more trained staff during the combats and for conscripts it’s useless,  they have neither preparation nor courage for such things.

3)     Kiev is a very corrupted place — so even today this guys sell a lot of weaponry in Africa.

4)     Lot of this ATGM and MANPADS now in hands of Donetsk People's Republic Luhansk People's Republic armed forces because Russian Army use its own weaponry and Ukrainians retreat throwing it all away.

5)     It’s a little bit dangerous handing out such powerful weapons left and right. No control at all. Especially MANPADS.

US is borrowing or printing this money. More inflation anyone?

Why do you care? Are you American?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Frontline of freedom. Nice rhetoric.

7 billion a month? Anyone worried where exactly all that money is going?

Rodney

Yes and Russia will annex Ukraine. Is that what you want?

russia has no desire to do that. Just protect the independent Donbass

So bombing the **** out of the Dombas is the same as protecting it? Not sure how that works.

and stop US nukes on its borders. Please keep up.

This is obviously false, because since the expansion of NATO started, there have never been any nukes moved into these new NATO member countries.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

What happened all these Ukrainain Molotov cocktail, Zelensky concocted,he share the responsibility too a degree, Russian were building battle plan on Ukraine borders, for a year,it he lose the east ,he toast, Putin do not give a damn about dead Russian or Ukrainian,it about his survival

we should have not given all our lend-lease weapons

Oh, OK - appease Hitler....interesting view...not one history has been kind to...

What did the Lend-Lease Act do?

*Passed on March 11, 1941, this act set up a system that would allow the United States to lend or lease war supplies to any nation deemed *"vital to the defense of the United States."

kinda different isnt it? Ukraine is not vital to the defense of the USA.

Your view - others differ...including almost all Repubs...

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ukraine-republican-policy-trump/

Plus I dont believe China was reverse engineering tech in 1941, there is that.

Interesting military strategy - refuse to defend democracy because the weapons you give to the defenders may get captured....

I'd say that was the surrender strategy...

so Russia wont capture some/most of these and give them to China to reverse engineer our tech?

Once this is over, Azov and criminal elements wont take anything left over and sell it on the black market to rogue nations?

To be those are both obvious resolutions to the end of this story.

Following this posters logic, we should have not given all our lend-lease weapons to Britain, France, Italy, and others during WW II because Hitler may capture them and use them against us...

Don't defend democracy, run away from it...

What a way to win a war....for the other side...which is what these US far-right Putin fan-boys really want...

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Our own US military has 21 BILLION dollars of "unfunded priorities" just for this year.

How can that be when we have all these billions to just give away to a non NATO country.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Too little too late, The Ukraine has been destroyed.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Will all this be worth it in the end? If countries would stop arming Ukraine then the war is over and people stop dying.

Yes and Russia will annex Ukraine. Is that what you want?

There's a small possibility that some of the weapons may end up in Russia, but we NATO isn't at war with Russia. And if they do end up in Russia, it hardly justifies doing nothing so that more and more Ukrainians are butchered by the Russia invaders.

https://thehill.com/policy/international/599329-ukraine-russia-seized-rescue-workers-trying-to-deliver-food-to-mariupol/

The humanitarian convoy was seized, according to Ukrainian allegations.

What prevents this from happening to the weapons convoy?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia blocked an aid convoy on a previously agreed upon route. He added that a convoy was seized near Manhush, which is located just outside Mariupol, according to The Associated Press.

The Red Cross also confirmed to the AP that the aid convoy was unable to enter the city.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Yes let’s send more weapons to Ukraine, that’ll surely finish the conflict quickly. Logic.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I highly doubt they will be.

I think the Ukrainian leadership is naive, they will not get a blank check,we spent trillion in Afghanistan, nothing was accomplished, maybe The Taliban will ship their useless US weapons to Ukraine, Ukrainian did get Aghanistan helicopter

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Zelenskyy wants more money to start rebuilding ?

Bit early for that .

The conflict isn't over yet.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Not reported in our free and unbiased news but over the weekend a 6 truck convoy of "humanitarian aid" went straight to a military site. The Russians have asked for future convoys to be inspected. If not they will be considered legitimate targets.

Care to document that with credible news sources? Western aid is flowing to Ukraine in secret using well disguised trucks. They are not passing through any Russian held territory that would permit an inspection. Waving the BS flag on your comment.

Did Zelenskyy get those MiGs yet?

Unnamed countries supplied parts with US coordination that allowed about 20 out of service Ukrainian MiGs to be returned to a flying status.

Biden says - military aid will be sent directly to the front lines of freedom .

After the USA delivers the military aid via NATO to the Ukraine border it will be transported to the front lines by Ukrainian forces.

I sincerely doubt that the USA will be personally delivering the military aid to the front lines of the fighting in Luhansk and Donetsk.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Rodney, I do not agree with you on a bunch ,but I agree, Zelensky will never see this 7 ,billion dollar a month, and he blame others for Russian attacking him, because countries they had business with Putin, Zelensky is the best partner with Putin,80 percent of Putin gas ,go through Ukraine

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

The Russians have been playing on the chessboard of geopolitics so isn't it time the West ditched its checkerboard strategy? Putin's premeditated assault on a sovereign state has resulted in damage to the global economy and now poses a real threat to the security of Russia's European neighbors. Instead of letting Putin call all the shots NATO should immediately (before May 9) take out Putin's sock-puppet ally with a lightning strike on the mustachioed "Mussolinski of Minsk", Lukashenko. The oppressed people of Belarus would welcome their liberation after the dictator's physical elimination thereby knocking a prop from under Putin's authority after the Russian people see the joy on the faces of their Belorussian neighbors and the naked impotence of the Kremlin tin-pot despot to do anything about NATO's fait accompli out of the "West field".

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

How many years until these weapons are being used in attacks against NATO? 3-5 years at most.

I highly doubt they will be. There's a big difference between national building, and helping a well-established democracy defend itself from an invasion.

The Germans are selling not giving military aid for the Russians to destroy with air strikes before it is even unloaded.

Not reported in our free and unbiased news but over the weekend a 6 truck convoy of "humanitarian aid" went straight to a military site. The Russians have asked for future convoys to be inspected. If not they will be considered legitimate targets. Remember this next week when CNN reports the evil Ruskies are destroying aid convoys.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

7 billion per month.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Zelensky say he need 7 billion dollar a month

actually, he is ordering EU to pay 7 billion a month for his and pals wages, and 7 billion a month from IMF and World Bank for infrastructure. Plus billions and billions in military aid.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

The President is destroying Putin without firing a direct shot.

Russian forces have destroyed much of southeastern port city, which has witnessed some of the fiercest fighting of the war. By Russian estimates, about 2,000 Ukrainian forces remain holed up in a sprawling steel plant, even as Russia continues to pound the industrial site and issue ultimatums for surrender.

Destroying Putin??? How?? Seems like Biden is not paying attention to the news.

Like FDR said - America will be the arsenal of democracy.

Technically it should be.

I'd rather send weapons than American troops. All day every day.

Did Zelenskyy get those MiGs yet?

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Avenger, unless Ukraine attack Russian on their own turf, they will be grounded down, Ukraine cannot have access to their ports and air routes,

Glad to see the Reps and Dems finally getting along and agreeing.

War, good god yeah, what is it good for, corporate profits and campaign contributions.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

Zelensky say he need 7 billion dollar a month,he just told Putin ,that his strategy is working, and too continue his war is which was a fatal error

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

“Sometimes we will speak softly and carry a large Javelin, because we’re sending a lot of those,” Biden said, paraphrasing Theodore Roosevelt and referring to an anti-tank missile system.

This is welcome news, indeed, since his current foreign policy - - mumble incessantly and drift aimlessly, while carrying a big sock puppet - - is getting kind of old.
