Presidential behavior. Nice to see it again.

In a time of plague and raw division,

Trump further divided the country - deliberately. And continues to do so.

Biden has said turning the tide of the pandemic will be the top priority of his administration

That the pandemic continues to devastate the nation is on Trump and his Republican backers.

“reflects the fact that America is back, ready to lead the world, not retreat from it.”

This worries. I hope it doesn't mean the US will be involved in military conflicts of any sort. The focus needs to be internal, rebuild infrastructure, better healthcare, clean up US messes first.

Lunatics like Trump double down on their insanity

7 ( +20 / -13 )

Biden pleads for unity, Trump sows division and spreads a lie (Its his origin story).

This is one of the many reasons why Biden won and Trump lost

I'm getting the impression that the President Elect has been more proactive and positive in the last four days then the current president has in four years.

@SimondB

I'm getting the impression that the President Elect has been more proactive and positive in the last four days then the current president has in four years.

Yep, the attention starved troll currently hiding in the WH responded by pardoning Flynn on the same day to stay relevant.

Despite his tweets and frequent fundraising emails, President Trump knows "the battle is effectively over" and he's already moved on to asking allies "how he can stay relevant in the media and in the Republican Party and how he can earn money" next year and beyond, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing Trump advisers.

Trump's staffers are reportedly now avoiding him to stay out of legal jeopardy

Biden is not President yet, only from January and it is not Presidential behaviour to act as a President before he has been confirmed.

He had 8 years to do all he says he will do now.

I am not a Trump fan but I fear Biden will proof to be worse for the USA.

-17 ( +7 / -24 )

Refreshing to see a mature Presidential behavior after 4 years.

We can ignore trump’s tantrums , his presidency is over!!!

13 ( +18 / -5 )

Trump has played more golf in the past two weeks than Biden has. In fact, I can't recall the last time I've seen Biden play on a golf course. Also, I see no that Biden is not for tweeting insults or lies; unlike the current POTUS. Nice to see someone being presidential for a change.

12 ( +17 / -5 )

Unbelievable that Trump is still trying to overturn the election. Jesus this guy needs to be put out to pasture already. The Country (and the World) is moving ahead and has no need for Trump and his self worshipping incompetence.

14 ( +18 / -4 )

“This was an election that we won easily. We won it by a lot.”

Trump saying this hooey is not surprising. 70% of Republicans believing it is flabbergasting.

Then again, some other things Trump cultists believe:

--Covid-19 is no big deal, and masks are ineffective and emasculating.

--Climate change is either not real or not caused by humans. Except maybe Chinese communist humans.

--Kamala Harris is a Marxist. Joe Biden is senile and lives in a basement.

--Trump has been chosen by God to defeat a deep-state Satanic pedophilia ring. And to end the post-birth execution of babies.

--The Clintons killed Vince Foster, Seth Rich, Jeffrey Epstein, and 50 other associates. Plus Benghaaaazi!

--There is a war on Christmas.

--Barack Obama was not born in America.

14 ( +18 / -4 )

What's on Trump's mind: re-election, his legacy, what people think of him, golf, social media, pardoning his friends, planning for retirement

What's on Biden's mind: tackling COVID-19, unifying the nation, stimulating the economy, boosting health care, mending relations with other nations

Shows a clear divide. I wonder which mind matches what American's are thinking daily.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Biden is not President yet, only from January and it is not Presidential behaviour to act as a President before he has been confirmed.

Then why did all those other presidents do so? How has it suddenly become not presidential when it always was before?

He had 8 years to do all he says he will do now.

He was vice-president. They don't set the policy.

That said, if you're trying to blame him for something, it's a pretty shaky argument not only considering how wildly successful it was, resulting in Obama being extremely popular upon his departure through to the current day, but also considering how the right has elected three Losers in a row that only make Biden look better.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Biden says wear a mask and social distance; brilliant.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

The only way to reunite USA is to sever economic, and cultural ties with China. Unfortunately, Biden had a record of over two terms sacrificing US workers in favour of economic ties with China.

I fear for the fate of USA, especially if it's 'back to the future' with the old China 'diplomacy' dragged out of the cupboard, rinse and repeat his last two terms in office. Extremism will rise from far left and far right. Not a recipe for unity in anyone's language.

Look at what China is trying to do with Australia at the moment, dividing. Massive wedge between security interest and business interest. I hope Australia survive this attack on its political system.

-15 ( +5 / -20 )

If Biden really, and truly wanted to re-unite the country, he would publicly announce in the strongest terms that he understood the failure that economic ties with China brought on. and he won't be repeating it. Else, it would all be back to the slow rot.

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

Biden and the dems tried to divide and breakdown the country for the last 4 years, now he calling to unite, why didnt he make that call over the last 4 years instead of trying to destroy the country along with pelosi ....................

SimondB: Post of the day, for you! Deserves repeating in bold letters!

Yes, Biden is as you say being more Presidential in weeks over the 4 year folly of Donald Trump.

They lost lots of house seat but still hold majority

In America when you lose in the house that many seats it’s an indication bad things are about to follow.

I can guarantee that that number will dwindle,

The left said that after he won in 2016 and he in fact increased his base and ironically speaking of this, his numbers of support are going up...at least now he has time to build up that momentum, not to mention you have 70+ million people that are ticked off, very ticked off to put it mildly.

Biden winning big in deep red states

The only deep red states that Biden captured was Georgia and Arizona. Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan have always traditionally been blue, except for that hiccup in 2016. Biden simply recaptured them.

It is baffling to me that some people try to make the democrats to be some sort of power-hungry warmongers, when the only reason America is still fighting in most parts of the Arab world is only because George W. Bush and Dick Cheney launched a completely unnecessary war in that region in 2003. Every conflict that happened after that is pretty much a domino effect from a Republican governement launching a senseless war for oil.

Also, some people, who want to make Trump out to be some sort of peace-loving humanist, seem to habitually and willfully forget that he bombed Yemen, a lot. And also, wanted very much to go to war with Iran, but was stopped by his advisers. A Trump war with Iran is actually still a frightening possibility.

Funny how Democrats can show hard evidence of fraud by Republicans, but Republicans can only rely on hearsay and rumors.

Republicans even try to set up so-called witnesses who obviously struggle remembering what they are supposed to say in their fake interviews. Or resort to flashing around bundles of paper, saying they are sworn affidavits, but don't submit them as evidence in court because they know clearly that they will be punished for not telling the truth in a court of law.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Whether one is a U.S. Citizen registered as Independent (NPA), Democrat or Republican, one must insist that the nightmare, which started on the 8th of November of 2016, comes to screeching end immediately.

Vice President Pence, if you’re listing ... please invoque the 25th Amendment and start the process of removing the unhinged and dangerous impediment from the White House. You will pardon him for his crimes in office and let the judicial process carry out his non pardonable crimes.

Democracy has been soiled and further damage to it must stopped. We have become the laughingstock of the world.

Be a patriot Mr Pence!

trump called into the Pennsylvania gathering to rant some more.

The Pennsylvania gathering( it's an insult to call it a hearing) had the brightest of bright GOPs including one who complained that the envelopes were separated from the ballots.

I guess they haven't heard of secret ballots!!!!

Elections have consequences, deal with it.

trump wants the elections to be overturned.

That's something his friends Putin or Kim might say!!!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Almost certainly he'll be gone soon.  And then we may get to assess the Biden bunch on their merits.  I personally am not optimistic.  He inspires no confidence and his team are an equally sorry bunch of prior failures.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

It's time for the Trump supporters to realize they were duped for the last four years and all the hate and division was just Trump doing Putin's bidding to weaken America...

You only have to look at Trump's pardon of Flynn - for talking to Russians then lying under oath about it...

Every US President and Administration since Richard Nixon has favored economic ties with China, That's 49 years ago. For nearly all of those years the US and the world held hopes that helping China rise economically would bring them closer to democracy. We were wrong. Today nobody believes China's "Peaceful Rise" lie. The US position towards China is bipartisan. After 2020 no one sees China in the same light as before. Oh except maybe Japan's Suga administration....

And you can live in your far-right bubble filled with Kremlin-sponsored propaganda and worship your defeated cult leader...

And if I was a Trump supporter, I'd be careful about using the word "fat"...

8 ( +11 / -3 )

but to claim Trump was in an way working for Putin or Russia is just a big fat lie.

He was actually called "a russian asset" by dozens of active and retired spies and agents of various american intelligents agencies. Meaning he was certainly, at least unwillingly, working in favour of Russia.

@lincolnman You can hate Trump, his supporters and their blue collar jobs and every policy Trump enacted but to claim Trump was in an way working for Putin or Russia is just a big fat lie.

Well, Russian media has publicly claimed that trump has been Russia's most valuable asset and publicly suggested how to exploit him a little longer before he leaves office.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

@Numan

Russian media and fired government workers trying to sell books are hardly anything to hang your hat on.

Might be a strong case that Russia was interfering in US politics but to actually claim that Trump was working for Russia is outrageous.

“Unity” my rear end. There hasn’t been an mm of unity since 4 years ago. The demorats don’t know the definition. They were spewing all sorts of vile behavior. Of course if you watch the blatantly biased media you are blind to all this. Time to give back. After it’s better to give than receive.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

“Unity” my rear end. There hasn’t been an mm of unity since 4 years ago

Did you forget the eight years of obstruction against Obama? Why so hyper-partisan? Do you think that will help heal your country?

7 ( +10 / -3 )

I love how Democrat's blame us Republican's for all the strife and racial divide

It’s much clearer when you consider the three utter Losers in a row your team elected; Bush 1, little Bush, and Trump. Three failures.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

@lincolnman.

Do you not recall in August we discussed this previously?

Thank goodness one Trump supporter realizes he's a failure and gone for good, and would be routed in 2024...

I stated very clearly I was Gary Harts Manchester N.H. Canvassing campaign leader. After seeing how my own parents are with the Democratic National party contributor's stinky filthy wealthy IBM elites for Ken Olson who operated IBM and its founder. I was in total disgust and a bit rebellious teenager and then after all that hard work for Gary's campaign in 1988. He just suspended it over his scandal. I swore never again to work for Democrats ever again.

I have stated very publicly. I am a middle to right Republican and mildly super bipartisan!

I was a fan of Trump as a TV talent nature and a Real estate mogul. His sales training is some of the best I ever scene, studied and read being in the business at the time. I could get in to a deep conversation about Trumps abilities to handle objections and rebuttals. I have always stated I disprove of some of Trumps policies. Really have serious distain for his public speaking and un-Presidential behavior. But the way he had been labeled Russian puppet. Orange man. And other insults. Impeachment attempt. Then getting Impeached and pardoned. All disgusting even for America. Trump has been treated very un-fairly by Dems. Trump is no- professional politician. Plain and simple. A grand experiment for the GOP party. You label me a Trumpian or what ever you like. I will say this there is no doubt in my mind Trump loves America and is a different kind of Patriot.

I am a Massachusetts Republican Party Member and Knight of Columbus.

Ted Cruz has always been my man and I have expressed great disappointment when he lost the the nomination and have commented on this great deal. If you going to label me. At least have your facts straight.

Semper Fi!

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

I’m sure your run of the mill dem will be all about unity. On their terms of course. There’s lists of peoples lives and careers they have to be destroyed first of course. You know, the deplorables.... a concept more alive now than ever.

Authentic efforts at unity, or empty sloganism while ‘democrating’ behind close doors? We shall see if this will be the ‘American’ century, one that the world looks on and is inspired by, or one that is cringeworthy. Unity is a big word guys. You up for it? Sincerely hope so. With identity politics as the base program however, that by its very nature divides ( forever ) more than it unites, its gunna take some serious mental gymnastics to pull anything off other than more in-fighting. Let the games begin. You have our undivided attention! ;p

Smart money, Biden will last a year before the media starts to retire him.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

@Zichi.

Hai, What it means to be a good and productive Catholic.

Especially passionate about.

Same-sex marriage and no to divorce and keeping the family unit intact. At least I am not hiding who I am or what I am and what I stand for.

You can hate me, or hate on me personally and attack me, or hate on my views. I am nor swayed nor bothered either way.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Smart money, Biden will last a year before the media starts to retire him.

So called smart money hasn’t been winning any bets recently.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

@lincolnman

That speaks very clearly of your support for Trump.-I supported and voted for Trump as he was my parties nominated choice. I never vote Democrat even I like some Democrats. I am again PARTY LOYAIST!

I wonder how many other Trump supporters here agree with you-None that I have seen nor read. Most here seem hell bent on not entertaining or looking at another option in the vast rising talent in our GOP Party. Much more than your party and more diverse as well. maybe matter of opinion.

Its all about fraud this fraud that. To be honest. I am looking forward to old fashion politicking making a come back with occasional independent shaking things up. All this the past four years has been a bit too extreme and very distasteful the last four years.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

It satisfies our poorly educated desire to stick it to people we don’t understand because we aren’t smart enough to follow what they are saying, which is why we felt like Obama was always lecturing us. We weren’t 100% sure what he was saying until it was interpreted by Fox “News,” but we knew instantly that it wasn’t good.

It's sad but it's true, not only for USA but everywhere. This is the premise of populists and Trump opened up an window for them to air their hate to the world. Unfortunately for them, it only lasted 4 years.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

The political activity of the Knights of Columbus deals with the involvement of the Roman Catholic fraternal Order to influence public policy to promote its interests. Active conservative stance on social issues and lobbied for conservative political causes - strongly opposing efforts to introduce same-sex marriage, abortion rights, birth control, and loosening controls around divorce.

Ah, was mixing them up with the Knights of Saint Columbanus in Ireland. Known for meddling with schools back in the day, although their power has waned greatly over the years.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Biden looks and sounds so normal.

I can't wait to see him sworn in.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Same-sex marriage and no to divorce and keeping the family unit intact.

Family can be one parent, as well as two. Gender and orientation shouldn't come into it. But if a family is riven apart, it tends to be because the marriage has failed - for various reasons - and divorce is necessary. And it's been around for centuries, at the very least. Ireland had Brehon Law, for instance, which permitted divorce.

All for Biden's message of unity, but I think (currently) that his ancestral homeland has more chance of uniting than the US. You just have to read the hatred and threats from hardcore Trump supporters online.

such a shame.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

It really takes a flabbergasting amount of cognitive dissonance, bad faith and mental gymnastics to accuse democrats of "racially dividing" the country when the republican party has been hard at work disenfranchising, disempowering, scapegoating and silencing minorities for the past several decades.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

2-3 times a year before this virus from China was unleashed to the world.

And fanned on by Trump who is responsible for the deaths of 260 thousand Americans. Trump who also pretended to be tough on China, whilst pursuing business interests there and praising Xi's authoritarianism and locking up of Uighur people.

Yes, Biden has a helluva job cleaning up after the irresponsible con man who almost destroyed your country.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Half the time, but since China unleashed this virus won’t be going back this holiday, sadly

You are aware that the has US "unleashed" several pandemics over the years, including the so-called Spanish flu of a hundred years ago? It killed millions, but we don't keep blaming the US for it.

At any rate, so-called patriotic Americans should be doing their utmost to help prevent the spread of the virus, which means no travel at the moment.
