He said that, did he? Cat and mouse. Watch out for the rats, though. They kill cats.

Who knows what Putin will do next, beyond weaponizing oil and gas and doing whatever he can to maintain his personal wealth got from using his political powers to take greater control over Russia's oil and gas.
But all nations and corporations and individuals that have allowed themselves to be so dependent on burning huge amounts of oil and gas have enabled the global oil/gas barons to control their lives, while also further polluting the earth.
Stop burning so much oil and gas and find ways to replace them with clean renewables. Those who've been shouting about 'freedom' should accept that the oil/barons and the governments they control are also controlling you. Let the sunshine in!

War or no war, Putin has miscalculated badly on this one:

I believe only the US keep telling that Russia will invade Ukraine in order to server their own interests and keeping the oil and gas prices at record highs
Alex
Precisely. All at the expense of the country's reputation.

If Russia's tanks, burn gasoline or other fossil fuels and their engines do not burn fuel cleanly, especially while idling, I think the air quality in and around the areas at the border must be terrible. I hope no one gets sickened breathing the fumes and pollution caused by wasting what some consider to be a precious resource. But Putin and his oligarchs are probably getting richer by having more fuel burned. Bring the fossil era to an end as soon as possible. No more wars for oil, gas and their shipments.

America will keep an eye on this Puty to make sure Hitler does not become reborn in Europe. Kick A$$ Biden!
bass4funk
What does all that even mean?
I think there are more pressing concerns than the air quality at this very moment.
Ok, well none of that addresses the real issue and that is, when Russia starts the invasion what will the Ukraine do to defend themselves and how exactly? They seem to be greatly outnumbered.

Like George Bush Jr's talk on the eve of the "shock and awe" attack on Iraq, Putin's public comments on Russia's military stance vis-a-vis the Ukraine give the game away to anyone who can see the mismatch between words uttered and facial expressions. They are both poor actors with pants on fire. It's now or never for Putin, so Russian soldiers will cross the borders and the West will have to live with it.

Biden certainly doesn't want war. If Putin invades Ukraine, US troops will not take part in the conflict. But you can expect sanctions.
RichardPearce
Ever hear of the AN-124? A single one of them can carry a mind blowing number of tanks, along with everything they'd need for days, plus everything to set up a military base for them to operate from. Russia has more than 2 DOZEN of them, plus troop transport planes, and Ukraine is literally right next door to Russia.
If Russia did want to invade Ukraine, it wouldn't be 'massing troops on the border' or moving tanks to where they'd have to drive into, and then across, Ukraine, to get to their objectives, they'd all be enjoying the comforts (such as they are) of their home bases, until they walked and driven onto planes for the short hop to wherever in Ukraine and before you could learn the sound track your news channels had created for 'Russia is invading Ukraine' stories, they'd have had to switch to the sound track for 'Russia has crushed Ukraine' over footage of a lot of Ukrainians, in their Ukrainian army uniforms, 'occupying' Kiev exactly the way they used to before the US backed coup against the last democratically elected government of Ukraine.
RichardPearce
Seems someone forgot that the Ukrainian regime that the US is backing is the one with people wearing Third Reich symbols as they use the short Austrian's tactics against the population of East Ukraine as they try to reprise the Vichy government.

Calm down. Lots of sabre rattling going on, but a war is unlikely - a few border skirmishes at the most. An invasion would be way too expensive and damaging for Russia, and everyone who's even moderately well informed knows this. It's just that Biden desperately needs this as a distraction thanks to his administration's brown Midas touch. Putin must be laughing himself to sleep every night over this.
quercetum
Biden means he still needs to justify and substantiate the military budget for the arms manufacturers. These votes are essential.
War isn’t actually necessary but just the threat of war.
FizzBit
The Biden administration and all their puppets is a joke. Yeah. Who invades a country with helicopters? Anyone sitting on the fence with this BS please jump off, and those on the other side please recognize you’re being played.
Joe Blow
Biden is terrible at this, he should be kept away from the mic. We all know the threat is high but he shouldn't say that, he should say "We'll see, we'll be talking to Russia and working something out diplomatically, otherwise there'll be hell to pay but look, Putin knows that, he doesn't want that, so I think we'll work this out."
You need to put some spin on it, jeezus.

Is this President Putin new generation warfare?
Hybrid warfare/hybrid threat.
The menacing nature of a huge military armoured presence parked on Ukraine’s door step.
The element of and threat to a tactical false flag playbook.
The constant goading, cyber-attacks, the pantomime, no I won’t, oh yes you will invade.
Putin practice of a playground bully shuffling his tanks and armour in a now you see them, now you don’t, look now they are back, to constantly humiliate your foe.
I suspect Putin has realised he is on the wrong side of history, ravaged by a pandemic, and needing the gas dollars as much as Europe has become addicted to Russian energy.
Putin’s desperate last throw of the dice?
European disunity played into Presidents Putin hands.
Joe Biden may be seen as doddering, but his Government are having none of it.
Hervé L'Eisa
Big Joey Biden told reporters. He said the U.S. has “reason to believe” that Russia is “engaged in a false flag operation to have an excuse to go in," but did not provide details.
This is "confession through projection". Classic propaganda. Maybe Big Joey is hoping to find the elusive WMD? More false flag info from the "Intel"
MikeH
We’ve been hearing that for weeks now from the American administration! Seems like Putin just toying with the Americans!
2020hindsights
Hervé L'Eisa
Well of course he didn't. If he provides details, Russian intelligence will hear, and they will find out what the US knows and potentially how they got the information.

Yep, Putin's folly. He miscalculated badly on this. He's pushing Ukraine toward the west, not as far as NATO, but they will look to Western allies rather than Russia in the future. This is the opposite of what Putin wants.
mz16
What a sore loser. Russia already invaded on Wednesday - didn't you get the memo?
bass4funk
Biden has been checkmated
Peter14
And he is absolutely correct. As long as Russia keeps massed forces on the border there is a high threat of invasion.
But hey if Ukraine is accused of lobbing some artillery over the border then Russia will be "forced" to take action.
At the end of the day, as long as Russian forces are in a position to launch an invasion at very short notice, the threat remains. Putin and the world know this and Putin is using that threat to try to get concessions. In the end he may just settle for the removal of all sanctions currently directed at Russia for taking Crimea, interference in the 2016 US elections, for shooting down the Malaysian plane and for starting and continuing the conflict in Donbas, Ukraine. They have many damaging sanctions on them and on leadership that they would love to be removed.
Putin is quite mad by normal standards by making threatening moves of a major conflict. But his maneuvering in the first instance is to make others bend to his will. Failing that his options for invasion remain on the table and ready to use in an instant.

One minute Biden was leaking to the world "secret intelligence reports" that there would be an invasion Feb 16. Now he is giving no details on "secret intelligence reports" predicting false flag operations.
If and when the invasion occurs I think we will all know without Biden's help.
But if he has details of false flag operations these should obviously be announced before they are supposed to happen, not afterwards.

Deja Vu.
Fantastic intel as fantastic as that on Saddam Hussein WMD.
Surprisingly, from some of the comments here there are still some falling for this.
Where are the satellite pics when they are needed.

This current crisis will reduce the US to a regional power and will weaken NATO. This will further embolden Russia and together with Turkey, Iran, Sudan and Libya and many other central Asian nations to invade Israel to plunder and take booty.
Israel through its EastMed pipeline will compete with Russia’s Nordstream in supplying Europe’s energy which will be the hook in the jaw of Putin that will bring him to God’s Holy land. God will supernaturally defend his land and this will put an end to strong powers like Russia, Turkey and Iran and end Shia radical Islam. This will create a power vacuum that will usher in the final one world govt to be led by the AntiChrist which Jesus will destroy when he comes back with his raptured saints to establish his millennial kingdom here on earth.

It's clear that "Checkers" Joe can only kibitz from across the Atlantic while the chess-playing Putin soon makes his next move to put his neighbor, "Comic-King" Zelenskyy, into a "zugzwang" (an offer he can't refuse). Only the people of the Ukraine now stand between Putin's megalomania and their independence, but will they be able to checkmate Putin's game plan for "Making Russia Greater Again"?
2020hindsights
happyhere
Absolutely not. It would undermine the US intelligence in the reason. If you have intelligence, you don't tell you enemies what that is. That's basic.
2020hindsights
Temyong
Quite the opposite. It is pulling NATO together and pushing Ukraine to the west. None of which were Putin's aims. He stuffed up. Badly.

I will say, you have a very artistic way of using quotation marks, given that your comment is the first time "tomorrow" has been mentioned on this webpage.
bass4funk
Yup, Biden is definitely not helping the situation.

Welcome to our daily dose of Russia-love....courtesy of our far-right friends, or otherwise known as Putin's US cheerleaders...
They openly admitted yesterday that their preferred news sources were Kremlin mouthpieces Russia Today and Sputnik...
What's the word for those that "aid and abet the enemy"?
happyhere
Basic? Biden announcing the "invasion" date obtained by US intelligence, complelely contradicts your statement.
Or are you saying that Biden lied?
bass4funk
Nope, more like Biden is getting ready to bite off more than we can chew. Never even told the public why and how getting involved with Russia is going to benefit us. We know liberals could care less as long as we just get involved in this mess even without knowing the full objectives
Which quote verbatim and who said that? Proof?
I don’t even know if the left understand what that word even means or how it’s used in its proper context.

If I were to constantly source, say, MSNBC as my sources, you might think that I thought they were reliable, wouldn't you?
If I were to do so multiple times in the same thread, you might suspect that I considered them the best source of information.
If I were to promote Russian propaganda news sources as the only reliable sources in a news topic about Russian aggression, you might believe that I am interested only in promoting Russian interests.
But there again, maybe you wouldn't. If you wanted to stay asleep.
bass4funk

Does not mean he’s cheering on Russia.
I think liberals think any liberal source credible, they even look at Rolling Stone and Yahoo News as credible and reliable sources.
Not necessarily, now we’re on an every single day diatribe than perhaps.
Again not necessarily, depends on the situation and context.
I just don’t jump the gun the way the left does and scream Russia, Russia.
