Fire Barr on first day

It's unclear for now whether President Donald Trump and his administration will cooperate.

The above is not surprising. Trump has NEVER been about the country, only about himself.

build his administration

Please no Hillary Clinton, not for any position.

I'm pretty sure Biden will choose people based on their credentials and intelligence; unlike Trump who chose staff members based on nepotism, good looks, and those who would be completely obedient to him.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Another difference of course, is Biden is fully willing to appoint some Republicans to his cabinet, if he feels they are qualified to do the job as he has shown a history of bipartisanship. Trump on the other hand, wouldn't even speak to a Democrat and treated them as evil people.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Once again, another Democrat is needed to save the country after another Republican screwed it up. The "Grand Ole Party" of duuuh!

MY PREDICTION:

Republicans and trump cultist all around the world will suddenly start caring about things like debt, deficit, and COVID-19 deaths!

Mark my words!

I wonder how much money Trump made by selling all those Trump products with the White House logo. I'm pretty sure there is a law where a sitting president can't use their position as POTUS to sell merchandise. Or how much money he's made at his hotels and resorts by using his influence and power as POTUS.

his beautiful Manhattan penthouse

Have you seen the photos? Marble, glass and everywhere the glint of gold, screaming look at me, I got money!

Money can buy gold, but it can't buy class.

Biden seeks to move quickly and build his administration.. excuse me, when exactly did the election END? Who declared him the winner? Who on EARTH gave AP or Reuters the power to declare anybody a winner? It's not up to AP or CNN or any garbage bin of a media to declare anything.

I'd be curious to hear your views on Trump literally declaring himself the winner on Wednesday.

Thank you! I love predictions. Can I add that to the long list of failed predictions from JT experts that I alreday have?

How about your predictions Trump would win a 2nd term? Can add that to your list.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Please no Hillary Clinton, not for any position.

It would be an absolute betrayal, if he did appoint her. It will only re-open old wounds.

compassion, empathy and concern

Alien concepts during the four years of potus non potens.

If you think about it, Biden actually inherited the perfect situation. All this about Biden must help us recover from Trump damage....

In recent times, cleaning up the mess left by Republican presidents is what Democratic presidents do. Nothing new here.

It’s not a partisan point to state that Bush 2 and Trump made a mess. Dispute it if you like but you have your work cut out for you.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

excuse me, when exactly did the election END?

November 3rd. The day Trump lost.

If you think about it, Biden actually inherited the perfect situation. All this about Biden must help us recover from Trump damage....

The American electorate has fallen into a predictable pattern over the past 3 decades.

1) Elect a fairly normal Democrat candidate who governs with reasonable competence and stability.

2) Get bored, throw the keys to a very flawed and incompetent Republican who proceeds to run the country into the ground.

3) Recoil with horror, go running back to a fairly normal Democrat candidate to fix what the Republican broke.

This is how its played out since 1992:

1992-2000: Democrat Clinton basically runs the country as normal, no big catastrophes. Biggest scandal isn't related to the economy or to wars but rather to him lying about an affair with an intern which consumes the country. How quaint.

2001-2008: Republican Bush starts two unwinnable wars that will last forever, botches response to Katrina, leaves office with the economy in a tail spin.

2009-2016: Democrat Obama runs the country as normal, no big catastrophes. Biggest scandal is.....like his birth certificate or something?

2016- 2020: Republican Trump lets COVID kill hundreds of thousands, destroy the economy.

2021 - ? Democrat Biden is probably going to basically run the country as normal.

The media is an absolute JOKE.

Biden seeks to move quickly and build his administration.. excuse me, when exactly did the election END? Who declared him the winner? Who on EARTH gave AP or Reuters the power to declare anybody a winner? It's not up to AP or CNN or any garbage bin of a media to declare anything. 4 States are STILL counting votes, and Trump is already suing at least several States. This election is anything BUT over.

Seems like many Trump voters are having are hard time swallowing the truth, which is actually quite ironic because they believed Trump's rhetoric of falsehoods, lies, and misleading information. Yet, with the election results, they want absolute certainty.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Whether he goes with grace or gets kicked out, trump will be gone on Jan 20.

Biden's first step should be to kick out all the trump enablers and create an administration of smart people.

One thing he doesn't have to worry about is prosecuting trump and his cronies, there are more than enough investigations on and they will take care of these lawbreakers.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Good.

The country is in a dire state with the negligence and incompetence of the clueless trump administration.

More people should not die due to trump’s negligence.

4 ( +13 / -9 )

Any president, of any country, has a lot to worry about. For the US President, at this time in history, the problems are almost insurmountable.

The population explosion, global warming, economic disparity, immigration reform, nuclear Armageddon, massive government debt; the list seems endless. He will need to cooperate with the other countries to get anything done on the global stage.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

No more nepotism. Banana republic crap.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

70 million + people voted for Trump, they are not going away. Even Michelle Obama sent out a tweet saying it will be very difficult to get anything done unless we work with them.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Who declared him the winner? Who on EARTH gave AP or Reuters the power to declare anybody a winner?

No, the electorate declared him the winner.

Coffee-san, the media are just acting like every other presidential election in the last several decades.

They declare a winner way in advance of all the votes counted and possible recounts as long as they are sure that those recounts aren't likely to change the winner.

You are correct that many states need to finish counting and officially declare the winner after any recounts or legal challenges. And once those are all done, we have a winner.

But none of all that will change this result. So, as in any presidential election, the networks declare it and the winner is president-elect until next January.

His first order of business will be to deal with the pandemic. It could get much, much, much worse.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Hopefully the appointees will work for the Constitution and the American people and not the President's political agenda.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

It will be nice to have appointees who won't eventually end up in jail.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

I don't see any evidence that Trump will be enriching himself by being president. If anything, it cost him money. His brand was rather posh before he got into politics and had to move from his beautiful Manhattan penthouse into some sketchy public housing in Washington DC.

Its true that he probably would have been financially better off not having spent 4 years as President. This feeds into the suspicion that he never actually intended to win and was caught as off guard by it as everyone else was.

But that isn't the same as saying he didn't use the office to enrich himself, even if it turned out to be a net losing proposition for him. There really isn't any mystery either, he's been very open about it, literally running a hotel down the street from the White House where foreign diplomats were expected to stay if they wanted to be in his good graces. That is by no means the only example.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Now I can't wait to tear into Biden. Let's see how he performs.

Though if Congress is unwilling to work with him, then that's not his fault but Congress's.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

English grammar has returned! Hooray!

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Biden's first order of business should be to see the election through to the end. If he wants to truly heal the country, he should have the grace to wait until the legal hurdles are overcome, the votes are tallied, etc. I understand that he wants to look vigorous and in charge by making some decisions, but he isn't president yet. The electoral college hasn't even convened!

No, he needs to make a firm and clear statement that he respects the institutions of government and the legal system, and that he will stand aside until everything is worked out. Otherwise, he just gives the conspiracy nuts ammunition for their delusions.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

@ Kniknaknokkaer

There will always be the odd irregularity when dealing with such huge numbers but systematic fraud would be more obvious, so it will be interesting (and probably quite funny) to see how they try to prove it exists.

They will do it the same way Facebookers, Tweeters and Youtubers are claiming that the election was stolen. By using other Facebook, Twitter and Youtube posters in their circle. Then claim that all credible sources fact checking sources are liberal hacks!!!

Imagine trump walking onto Air Force One with toilet paper on his shoe!!!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Biden has a couple of months to build his administration. I am sure he will do a fine job and get his presidency off to a flying start. His first day in office will be extremely busy signing executive orders to fix issues created by Trump and rejoining the Paris accords. His second day will likely be just as busy as Trump created so many problems that need correcting. I am sure he will work through them all and fix many things in his first week.

Looking forward to not reading about Trumps tweets a few times a day. Will have more time to hear real news.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Biden will be a lame duck President. Just wait until the in-fighting starts with the far left and his administration.

Very little will get accomplished as the senate will block the majority of bills sent to them. He will have a four year term, then the Republicans will continue the work they started.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

Now that the democrats are back.

Democrats be like " __ in the Middle East needs some "Liberation and Democracy".

Conflict wars coming real soon. Just spitting facts.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I'm hoping Bernie Sanders is in Biden's cabinet. It will be sad if Biden fills it with centrists.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Biden will be a lame duck President.

Possibly. Not as lame a duck as Donald, mind.

Just wait until the in-fighting starts with the far left and his administration.

There is no far left within his administration. Sadly. There are progressives like the "squad" but they will be sidelined, which is a big mistake.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

70 million + people voted for Trump, they are not going away.

Well, of course. They're all American citizens.

It's rampant capitalism and the twisting of exceptionalism that is the major problem in the US. If Biden has the guts to curb such excesses, we could see an actual united country.

But it will be business as usual, I fear.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Good theory GLTY.

Except the Obama administration was far from trouble free. Remember the wars he got involved with? The expansion of drone strikes and extrajudicial murder? Scandals like the IRS targeting conservative groups, the "Fast and Furious" debacle, "if you like your doctor you can keep them", Guantanamo Bay, support of mass surveillance, support for the Dept of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act...

need I go on?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Biden seeks to move quickly

The difference in tone when the media writes about Biden is striking. No sneering, no spin, no negative bias. Instead only swooning, and all the pictures are flattering. What a difference to the 4 years of Trump bashing.

Biden was declared President by AP. Still not official. Trump is slimy, we should wait.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Election still hasn't ended. Some states are still counting, some will be having a recount. Then there is the claim of voter fraud which is to be settled in various court cases. Even if you believe there is no fraud, those cases have to be dismissed first before the election is settled.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Please no Hillary Clinton, not for any position

I will agree with you on that, but i dont understand the juxtaposition of Trump hate with a dismissal of Hillary; Hillary is the Dem party, arrogance and a disconnect with working class people.

I dont understand why Hillary doesnt deserve a cabinet spot, seems she is more than qualified.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

There is no far left within his administration. Sadly. There are progressives like the "squad" but they will be sidelined, which is a big mistake.

These people are dangerous. They feed on stoking racial disharmony and economic destruction to bring about some sort of unattainable socialist utopia - you know, the kind that invariably ends in a smoking wreck of a society. But the moderate Democrats should be smart enough to keep them at bay, lest they risk losing the mid-terms.

Likewise, the Republicans and Libertarians should be highlighting the Squad as what America would end up with if they give the Democrats a majority in the House and Senate at the next round of elections.

@expat,

If you think about it, Biden actually inherited the perfect situation. All this about Biden must help us recover from Trump damage....

Due to COVID, they were able to exploit an ambiguous voting situation, where nobody still knows the actual count due to mail in ballots in Dem controlled cities.

Nobody knows how a Biden would of handled the tsunami of ambiguous and uncertainty back in Jan when COVID appeared. China was not transparent in their reporting. Agreed, Trump blundered, but initial reporting by "experts" said it was nothing more than the flu.

Trump endured the initial blunt of the trauma, later throwing everything they could at, while still making stupid statements, but their still isnt a vaccine.

“People want the country to move forward,"

Sure, but over 70 million people voted for Trump, and they will not move forward until all objections and accusations of fraud are cleared.
