Biden should use the Klu Klux Klan act of 1871,it give broad powers,it ironic, the laws was made especially for them 150 years ago

U.S. President Joe Biden warned Thursday night that “equality and democracy are under assault” in the U.S. as he sounded an alarm about his predecessor, Donald Trump, and “MAGA Republican” adherents, labeling them an extremist threat to the nation and its future.

I used to say only in Japan. But it seems now 'ONLY in America' that you can threaten your political opponents and still think you're pro-democracy. Not even China's CCP do that, at least they're proud to say they're authoritarian.

Fiery speech by Biden who didn't fumble his lines, or read from cards, and didn't even mention himself once during the 30 minutes, unlike a Trump speech, which is always full of him and nothing else.

Recently reported when Trump is in his Mar-a-Lago club he moves from room to room seeking attention.

Lol

Joe's right and we all know it. Trump is the worst threat to America ever. He's an antichrist who is nothing but trouble.

Trump plans a rally this weekend in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Biden’s birthplace.

I hope that criminal either gets a warrant out for his arrest on him, is left blubbering to himself, gets hits by tomatoes like that Spanish town folk did last week during their 'festival' or any combination of the above.

Donald Trump appears to be losing support among Republican voters for a 2024 White House bid as the public hearings of the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack against the U.S. Capitol have unfolded, new polling suggests.

Many lost their jobs and business after their photos were published of the riot.

7 ( +28 / -21 )

What’s with the Marines for a back drop…nothing but theatrics.

You’re going to need more than that in November

-10 ( +24 / -34 )

I used to say only in Japan. But it seems now 'ONLY in America' that you can threaten your political opponents and still think you're pro-democracy.

Lindsay Graham said that if a legitimate criminal investigation ended up charging Trump with a crime that the right would unleash violence in the streets. Again.

7 ( +25 / -18 )

Nice false paraphrase. This is what was said.

If they try to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement, there literally will be riots in the street. I worry about our country,” he said.

Nothing about a legitimate investigation (we know it’s not) and no dramatic pause to say “again” like you claim.

Nothing about a legitimate investigation (we know it’s not)

It is.

January 6. Conservatives are violent thugs who resort to physical assault when they don’t get their way, and despise the rule of law. Shameful.

11 ( +33 / -22 )

Blacklabel

Biden in his speech did not mention Hillary Clinton.

You can read the transcript.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/09/01/biden-maga-republicans-philadelphia-speech-00054510

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very republic,” Biden said in a rare moment of calling out his predecessor by his name. “Democracy cannot survive when one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: either they win or they were cheated.”

16 ( +31 / -15 )

In a country where f o xnews exists (and openly use 'entertainment' as their get out of jail card when found guilty of misinformation) Where a significant portion of the population belives in consipricacies, you have perfect breeding ground for people like trump to prosper.

4 ( +19 / -15 )

January 6. Conservatives are violent thugs who resort to physical assault when they don’t get their way, and despise the rule of law. Shameful.

Unless 75 million+ people were at Jan 6 that’s quite an aggrandizing stereotype of half of America. Which is what the supposed uniter Biden just did cause it’s election time.

-13 ( +19 / -32 )

Biden's speech has been obvious to the majority of Americans both Democrat, Independent, and precious few Republicans that are willing to fight against the MAGA cult. I said it way back in 2016, Trump wanted to become a dictator. The cult 45 wanted an authoritarian dictator to rule over them in their sick twisted minds. They still do to this day. They don't want democracy to elect leadership, they want a rigged election to only elect the politicians their minority chooses. Y'know, like Russia and North Korea. They want one party rule just like the CCP of China. Biden wasn't really saying anything that Americans with brains already knew.

The cult of 45 is exactly the opposite of everything that American soldiers have fought for, worked for, struggled for, and died for. Anti-patriotic, un-democratic, corrupt, fanatical, and unstable.

5 ( +28 / -23 )

Unless 75 million+ people were at Jan 6 that’s quite an aggrandizing stereotype of half of America.

75 million is not half of America, and it's not enough to win an election, just as in 2020. In order for it to be 'stolen' you need more than the other guy.

7 ( +17 / -10 )

Joe brought the thunder and you can see just how effective it was from the reaction of Chump's increasingly limited population of rubes.

We will see what the broader public thinks of it in the coming days but to any thinking American, which rules out anyone who cannot understand that 74 million votes is 7 MILLION less than Biden got, it is a message that is overdue and will be well-received.

2 ( +16 / -14 )

MAGA world wants to destroy the very constitution (and rights it entails) that America was FOUNDED ON. And are blatantly hypocritical enough to "claim" they are upholding it... the most putrid behavior we have ever seen.

5 ( +20 / -15 )

Biden was not responsible for the camera closeups and the “Bokeh” effect. But during his 30 minute speech there were also manywide shots with the Independence Housse in full focus. No conspiracy availabe.

6 ( +17 / -11 )

I'm no fan of Biden but, by God, somebody has to stand up and try to defend the democratic principles of the US because the Republican Party and most of its followers have gone stark raving mad. And not in a ha-ha, look at the fool type of way.

6 ( +23 / -17 )

I hope Bided gets the Nobel peace prize for this speech.

-8 ( +11 / -19 )

While we are tangentially on the topic...

After watching him organize, incite and unleash a mob to launch a coup on American Democracy so that he could retain power illegally, what are the betting odds on Trump not getting within spitting distance of 75 million votes, which again was 7 MILLION less than Biden got, "Next time."?

Not a gambler, but I would think that there are a significant number of people who voted for him and then watched 1/6 and it's aftermath, especially the hearings and said to themselves "Nope. I'm done."

(This assumes that there will be a "next time." That he is not on trial/serving a prison sentence for any of the 4, possibly 5, criminal inquires currently being investigated. Admittedly, it's quite an assumption.)

4 ( +17 / -13 )

You can't reach most of the Republicans. They are being willfully bear-hugged by the twisted ideology of Trump.

Delivering a preemptive rebuttal from Scranton Thursday evening, House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy accused Biden of trying to divide Americans

America has been divided for centuries. See: American Civil War of 1861 - 1865. Does he think of Donald Trump as a unifier? That would be a hearty laugh. The biggest problem now is the people in the Republican party, mainly MAGA-types, that are hell bent on rolling back voting rights and abortion rights and when they lose an election they cry that it was stolen. There is no need to try and reach them because they are set in their ways and cannot be reasoned with civilly.

1 ( +13 / -12 )

What if the dems are actually the bad guys...

2 ( +21 / -19 )

The ideology of MAGA is based on ubiquitous lies. Their narrative from falsehood blinds MAGA followers and allows them to be hypocritical and lie to themselves to the point they have no idea if they are lying, why they lie or how to stop.

There is no line they will not cross at the cost of the United States of America and her constitution and democracy. It is proven often in these threads. The lies just keep on keeping on with the Trump crowd, and great for Biden to call out MAGA wrong doers, everywhere.

3 ( +15 / -12 )

What if the dems are actually the bad guys...

Oh philosophical conundrums! I love those!

What if left is right?

What if up is down?

What if my hometown Royals were in first place?

Except that They are not, it's not, it's not, and they CERTIAINLY are not.

Other than that, it's a perfectly valid avenue of inquiry.

5 ( +15 / -10 )

Biden is right that we need to get rid of extremists in politics. We need to get rid of MAGA on the right and identity politics and eco extremists on the left.

The vast majority of people want incremental improvements to standard of living, people to be treated equally and look after the less fortunate. Unfortunately no one speaks for this middle majority.

6 ( +18 / -12 )

In order for it to be 'stolen' you need more than the other guy.

The GOP fundamentally do not believe in democracy. It is Republican orthodoxy that the GOP is the only legitimate political power in the US. They believe that the Democratic Party can be allowed to exist so long as it accepts that it must always agree with the GOP and must offer only token resistance to their plans (a role the Democrats often actually take on real life).

For an example, Republicans were flummoxed and outraged when Palin lost her election. The idea that more people wanted a Democratic politician to represent them in Congress is, to Republicans, absurd. The mere fact that a Democrat won is proof to them, in and of itself, that the Democrats cheated.

10 ( +20 / -10 )

What a circus American politics have become.

12 ( +20 / -8 )

The GOP fundamentally do not believe in democracy. It is Republican orthodoxy that the GOP is the only legitimate political power in the US. They believe that the Democratic Party can be allowed to exist so long as it accepts that it must always agree with the GOP and must offer only token resistance to their plans

Thus the "Semi-Fascist" comment.

He should not have added the modifying prefix "semi." It's an insult to prefixes. So in that respect, Joe should apologize.

4 ( +12 / -8 )

There’s a bunch of real problems, but surely not those two rivaling stage clowns who should long have gone into retirement.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

Joe's right and we all know it.

No, speak for yourself, not for the nation.

Trump is the worst threat to America ever.

If you believe that then the Dems have done another master stroke of a job with their political and partisan deflection.

He's an antichrist who is nothing but trouble.

he’s not the problem, the FBI, the department of justice, the Democrats that hate him, the intelligence agency, and everyone else I think he’s a threat that have been chasing this man for seven years are the real problems of the situation, 77% of the nation feels the country is going in the wrong direction and this is the reason why they’re looking at the house to change, and the Senate is very close, that’s a referendum on Joe Biden, not on Trump, because he is not the president, Joe Biden is, and if the Democrats were so confident, why are they campaigning and running away from him at the same time?

I hope that criminal either gets a warrant out for his arrest on him,

Why? For what reason? Odd….

-13 ( +14 / -27 )

Joe's right and we all know it.

No, speak for yourself, not for the nation.

Oh he is speaking for a majority of the nation. There is a very large majority that agrees with Joe Biden on this issue.

6 ( +15 / -9 )

If America were to choose trump, America would deserve what it gets and the world would see just how base the public mind of America has become and it would be the self-styled 'good' people who would ignore the corruption, the philandering, the moronic speeches, the demonstrated incompetence to choose that lump of rancid lard and prove their own hypocrisy and foolishness. Regarding the current devaluation of the U.S. dollar, economies roll slowly and what we are seeing now are trump's policies maturing. Biden's policies won't start biting for another year at least. Just sayin'...

2 ( +12 / -10 )

Oh he is speaking for a majority of the nation.

The ones that are voting predominantly for the Republicans and the Republicans tied more closely to the Senate....ok

There is a very large majority that agrees with Joe Biden on this issue.

If that were the case then Biden wouldn't try and deflect from his own disastrous policies and talk about Trump (non-stop and 24/7) and wouldn't demonize the GOP when he knows that is not a winning strategy for him or his faltering party. Attacking Trump will not help his 56% disapproval rating and it sure won't help Harris who's in the 20s or Pelosi. McCarthy is going to have a field day after November.

-16 ( +8 / -24 )

Biden wasn't my favorite choice for running against Trump back in 2020, but their generation is hell bent on powering over in politics on the generations after. But I completely knew that just as in 2016, I had to vote between the lesser of two "evils". In 2016, I went with the devil I knew. In 2020, I voted for democracy and upholding what against an obvious autocratic aligned group of crooked "conservatives".

But because MAGA couldn't accept the results of the majority of voters not voting for their grand emperor. They start chugging the kool-aid so hard with the instigation of their almighty ruler's blatant lies, that they sucked it in like the sycophants they are, and held it up as "truth".

6 ( +12 / -6 )

Unless 75 million+ people were at Jan 6 that’s quite an aggrandizing stereotype of half of America.

not even close to being half of America, not even half of the popular vote, 81 million is far more than 74 million

7 ( +13 / -6 )

“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic," Biden declared. He said they “are determined to take this country backward,’ they “promote authoritarian leaders and they fan the flames of political violence.”

“MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards,” Biden said. “Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.”

President Biden must take a step back and consider carefully shrill rhetoric of this nature boarders on desperation. It is politically incendiary.

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

About time they started calling this new Republican Party what it really is: fascist.

7 ( +14 / -7 )

About time they started calling this new Republican Party what it really is: fascist.

I would call the party in power that because it seems like for some reason that the 1st amendment is just not allowed. I mean, If I am not with Biden or his far-left out of-control, radical socialist, disastrous policies that make me an extremist? Oh, well....

-12 ( +10 / -22 )

Just a snippet

From where?

Trump is a symptom of American failure at a profound level.

MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards,” Biden said. “Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.”

I don’t know, are any of those rights, or do dumb libs just think they are rights?

educate us Blacklabel, and then tell us this all a big stupid overreaction and that non believers never had those rights to begin with.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

President Joe Biden Administration is obsessed with Donald Trump to the point of distraction.

To label Trump in such a manner could be construed aa openly tarring 74 million voters as fascists.

That course of action didn't bode well for the Clinton Champaign.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

I love how Republicans are crying foul over Biden's comments when they LITERALLY support insurrection (some even having been there on Jan 6th) and fascism, many posters on here as well. When they get called out for what they are (and there's no "semi" about it), they whine and cry and say it's not fair. Graham is the funniest; the man is even running from HIS OWN comments about riots in the streets, which he is pushing for!

Keep it up, Dems. No more kid gloves with these fascists and terrorists. It will soon be time to declare the MAGA crowd and other white nationalists as terrorist groups and treat them accordingly. You have them carrying out armed attacks on against the nation, bomb threats at children's hospitals, attacking FBI headquarters with automatic weapons, and then some. They are far worse than any external threat the US faces. Biden is 100% correct in everything he says here, and they know it, and are running scared.

7 ( +17 / -10 )

Trumpism is Fascism.

Not "Semi"

6 ( +18 / -12 )

I love how Republicans are crying foul over Biden's comments when they LITERALLY support insurrection

No insurrection, trespassing, but think about this and let's flip it around and Trump would have made a similar speech about Democrats, would the left not get angry? Think about that first before answering, we both know the answer to that.

(some even having been there on Jan 6th) and fascism, many posters on here as well. When they get called out for what they are (and there's no "semi" about it), they whine and cry and say it's not fair.

The Dems would and without a doubt were it happening to them and that just might happen after November, that's why a lot of them are bailing. Being in the minority is never fun.

Graham is the funniest; the man is even running from HIS OWN comments about riots in the streets, which he is pushing for!

Maxine Waters told people to go out and get into people's faces and tell them they are not welcome and it doesn't matter where they are, so how are those comments acceptable?

Keep it up, Dems. No more kid gloves with these fascists and terrorists.

I agree, it helps the GOP.

It will soon be time to declare the MAGA crowd and other white nationalists as terrorist groups and treat them accordingly.

What about the minorities that are MAGA and they are growing, what category should they fall into?

Biden is 100% correct in everything he says here, and they know it, and are running scared.

No, no one thinks that just this WH, the Trump haters, but many sensible and rational liberals are denouncing it.But that's ok, the more Biden demonizes the right, the more it helps us. Keep at it, Mr. President.

-17 ( +7 / -24 )

I hope that criminal either gets a warrant out for his arrest on him,

He might get a fine or nothing at all, but prison? For what? You have to commit a crime and be convicted of one and he hasn't and the Dems know it. Come on now.

-15 ( +9 / -24 )

Keep at it, Mr. President.

And you guys keep on man-splaning to women who they haven't really lost any rights, "it's just gone back to the states", and that they should just exercise more self-restraint.

Besides, shouldn't these women just focus on "real issues"? (That one is my personal favorite since I have actually seen women's veins in their foreheads start to throb.)

Keep doing that, please.

Because if Red, RED KS is any clue, you are making the Democrats case for them.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Trump is not politically relevant, so why make him relevant.

The midterm elections will be a won or lost on the performance of Joe Biden in office.

This is where Joe Biden must focus on. Not some perceived Trump panto villainy.

-3 ( +9 / -12 )

It was absurd. as Republicans got 60% of the vote. so it wasnt "more" people who wanted a Dem.

So when Republicans know the rules, take part in the elections, and lose, it's absurd.

Golly, that sounds like sour grapes. She knew the rules, played by them and didn't like the result.

I guess if she had won, she wouldn't like the result because she didn't like the rules?

Oh......

6 ( +12 / -6 )

And you guys keep on man-splaning to women who they haven't really lost any rights,

Not going to work, you think abortion rights are more important than crime, food, inflation, and gas prices? If the left thinks it is not an issue, they will lose and lose badly.

Besides, shouldn't these women just focus on "real issues"?

If they want to live in cities with rising crime and not being able to buy food for their families, they do tend to think a bit more rationally.

Because if Red, RED KS is any clue, you are making the Democrats case for them.

Yeah, but not making the same mistakes and making sure that we fund the police and are tough on crime, stop the growing inflation and make sure that people can eat in a country as plentiful as ours, not to mention the investigations that McCarthy will hold once he is House Speaker.

-14 ( +7 / -21 )

Trump is not politically relevant, so why make him relevant.

Oh, really? Cool, if he’s not politically relevant, then there can be no political motivation behind the FBI search of his house for the documents he stole. Thanks for letting us all know!

9 ( +18 / -9 )

Trump is not politically relevant, so why make him relevant.

Oh you could not be more wrong. He's on the ballot now.

Declared or not. Indicted or not. Trump and a woman's access to abortion is on the ballot in every state, top to bottom.

And there is no GOP candidate with a chance in hell of winning in any state that is happy about that.

I think Rick Wilson said it best: Everything Trump Touches Dies.
