The process of leadership, that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson should resign is beyond comprehension.

Europe/UK/Ukraine is in the mist of a devastating war of attrition.

Evidence of atrocities, of rape, war crimes, genocide, and the possibility, of the use of chemical weapons.

And the opposition parries are calling for a change of leadership?

Pompous, political self-interst, over the possibility of this war escalating into an all out conflict?

If a debate into Johnson resignation, at the time not remotely feasible.

Putin would not believe his luck.

Giving the rich a fine is giving them a free pass. Time is the only thing that is equal between all people. I don’t have an answer as to what penalty you could give a sitting prime minister, but a fine is a waste of time. Does nothing.

Is it Halloween yet ? Oh, never mind, it's just a really bad picture of Boris. Will someone PLEASE give him a COMB ???

Throw British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Treasure Chief Rishi Sunak out of office.

They disserve it, this is not the time.

Too bad the PM cannot be fined for every single lie he has told to the Brits. Btw., the shambolic Johnson is just an inept, pompous windbag whose existence makes not one iota of difference to the UK's ability to deliver the assistance that Ukraine needs to defend itself.

Yes. Replacing one inept, self-serving Tory with another isn't going to make much of a difference in Ukraine.

Pompous, political self-interst, over the possibility of this war escalating into an all out conflict?

Hardly. If Johnson goes there's no chance for Labour to take power until the next general election. Another Conservative will take over, and it could be someone competent who's worse for their electoral prospects. If Labour are acting out of "pompous (?), political self-interst" they'll want Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak to stay in office as long as possible.

Simon Foston,

Yes. Replacing one inept, self-serving Tory with another isn't going to make much of a difference in Ukraine.

Inept or otherwise, it would signal a possible change of government policy.

It would also, offer an open goal for Putin to divide NATO.

Personalising the ever growing overspill of an invasion into a clash of party politicking could ultimately undermine unity within the alliance of nations.

Simon you do understand that both Finland and Sweden could join NATO within 12 weeks and station short range, defensive missile systems?

It is imperative that Johnson Government remain fully in control of the future possible movement of heavy weaponry into Ukraine.

The Ukraine war was a god send to Johnson.

He will attempt to squirm his way out of responsibility.

What a morally defunct entitled person.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Yes, zichi it is unforgiveable, Johnson has fibbed, my I suggest betrayed the integrity of government.

I have a suspicion that the situation the Ukraine is about to spiral out of control or recognition.

Putin will not stand down.

Johnson for all his short comings should stay in place, the alternative Liz Truss?

PM Johnson really looks like the type of bloke you might be having a pint with in a British pub. I know what he did was wrong, but he seems like an interesting dude.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Does Johnson have no shame. Sleaze, scandal, immoral behaviour, lies, bad role model, the list is endless

I agree although Brits tend not to view Prime Ministers as role models. This is a good thing. Maybe people aspiring to a career in dodgy used car sales or internet spamming could look at Johnson for tips.

People need to recognize Boris for what he really is

I remember one commentator noting that the key to Johnson’s survival as a politician is that he initially set the bar so low, he is judged by standards lower than those used to judge other politicians. Everyone knew his past of being sacked as a journalist for making stuff up, being sacked by Howard etc. You have to humiliate yourself to defend Johnson the man.

Pompous, political self-interest

As mentioned earlier, a competent Tory leader worthy of respect is the last thing Labour want and Liz Truss isn’t the only option. I think Labour would like Truss as leader - a lightweight completely out of her depth.

Zichi is right. I happen to know his type well, with his phony hail-fellow-well-met shtick who likes to annoy and bother strangers. Sitting with my beer, as soon as Johnson sidled up to me open his mouth and start his bloviating in a bar, I would down my drink asap and be out of there before you could say "Brexit".

Not necessarily a bad thing.

It would also, offer an open goal for Putin to divide NATO.

Only if there's any radical policy change that's totally out of step with what NATO partners are doing. Which I doubt.

Personalising the ever growing overspill of an invasion into a clash of party politicking could ultimately undermine unity within the alliance of nations.

"Could." That sounds a bit hypothetical.

Simon you do understand that both Finland and Sweden could join NATO within 12 weeks and station short range, defensive missile systems?

Of course I do. I don't see what a change of PM in the UK has got to do with it though.

It is imperative that Johnson Government remain fully in control of the future possible movement of heavy weaponry into Ukraine.

You actually envisage another Tory PM doing anything radically different?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Simon Foston,

Yes my comment is hypothetical, I hope I am paranoid, misguided in my opinion.

There could be a once in a generation, fracture, in Europe political landscape.

Hungry, Poland, Finland, Sweden.

These states bordering the Russian Federation, could indeterminately create a scenario that propels Europe into a unparalleled, with t he exception of Hungry, to radially escalate this war beyond Ukraine.

France is on the cusp of an election mired in uncertainty.

A rightwing government beckoning.

It is not the right time for change.

You asked a relevant question, you actually envisage another Tory PM doing anything radically different?

No, I don't wont to cross that bridge. Better the devil you know.

I would not trust Boris Johnson sincerity, if my life depended on it.

The timing could not be more acute.

The time for apologies are over.

Johnson Government deals with the war in Europe then he takes responsibly and falls on the sword with  Rishi Sunak.

Remember the full Sue Gray report will be published in its entirety next week.

Their has been been reports of speculative assumptions, however only initial findings

In the unlikely event Johnson deals with the Ukraine situation at all well, there's no way he'll go willingly afterwards.

It is not the right time for change.

Prime Ministers have changed before during serious events, and many would say the change was for the better. Chamberlain for Churchill and Major for Thatcher come to mind.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Yet more evidence of the current British government laughing in the faces of the British people. They break the law and the UK news is full of people making excuses for them. Britain is an irrelevance when it comes to Ukraine, so the idea that world statesman Johnson must remain for that purpose is equally laughable.

Chamberlain for Churchill and Major for Thatcher come to mind.

Oops! Got that wrong. Should be Thatcher for Major.

Instead of him paying a £50 fine, how about refunding and paying compensation all the ordinary people fined for doing the same thing?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Money was spent on this investigation?

After Boris trounced the opposition to Brexit, Brits should be grateful to him and let him have his cake and eat it too.

After Boris trounced the opposition to Brexit, Brits should be grateful to him...

Why? Brexit's been a never-ending farce.

...and let him have his cake and eat it too.

He didn't let anyone else have any cake. Unless they were having it at home on their own.

That's hilarious .

Boris you bad boy .

Oh yeah the hoitey toitey tea toddling British never lie about anything.

Its all uppercrurst scones and cream .

Tell that to the east india trading company.

Simon Foston,

Agreed the conclusion to this devastating and brutal invasion of Ukraine will not end overnight.

Johnson has deceived parliament, the people and I contend his country.

Johnson alleged partying make me sick, his insistence that the country respect legislationt

Sorry on nights, finger trouble.

continuing...

to protect the public, Johnson fragrantly abused at will.

Johnson must be held accountable.

These are truly exceptional moments in time and require Government maintain policy momentum to aid Ukraine. Johnson is capable and focused to achieve this goal.

After Johnson will, must consider his position.

The process of leadership, that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson should resign is beyond comprehension.

They have not set the example for their fellow Brits. Bozo made the rules and violated them. He and his cohorts partied like it was 1999, fiddled while Rome burned. And he got CoVid himself in 2020. How much dumber can you get???

And as for the Conservatory Party, they can save face by kicking Bozo out. He's making them look bad.

Bozo, resign now.

I see nothing whatsoever to suggest that he's any more capable or focused than anyone else, although this crisis has shown he knows a thing or two about self PR.

starpunk, Simon Foston,

Johnsons behaviour is unacceptable, and his days as leader of the conservative party could well be decided as the realisation from back bench MP's gives fruition to a vote of confidence.

I struggle to defend a person I frankly find grates against everything I value.

Yet I worry about how this war is unfolding. And the role that UK will play.

It needs ownership, Johnson must provide full support to Ukraine.
