Boris decides what happens. If it works, he takes the credit. If it doesn't, ministers get the blame. Too many failures and the minister is replaced with another fall guy. That's how you stay popular in the top job. As the political opposition have become invisible in the UK - most people can't name or recognise their leader, never mind any of the shadow cabinet - the bar to staying in power is quite low. As both Tory and Labour are now pursuing the same policies - attacking globalisation, corporates, technology and foreigners - it probably doesn't matter which of them is in power.

I think I now hate the trite motto 'build back better' even more than 'new normal'.
