The concert arena was full of mostly kids and teenagers... these terrorists are cowardly scum.

RIP to those who died, and my heart goes out to all of those injured or traumatised by this attack.

My thoughts go out to the families of those affected, an attack on one is an attack on all of us!

To those who think they can achieve their aims this way I say this to you:

There is a special reserved place in the darkest, lowermost regions of hell for faceless barbaric cowards who think its justified to attack innocent children in the name of some ridiculous cause! No one has the right to remove a young life (or any life) from this world what ever their reasoning!  I hope who ever it was that carried out this atrocity suffered as much agony and pain as those who were hurt by this gross attack on decency! This is cowardice through and through, by showing you can place no value on a human life all it demonstrates is that you are not fit to call your self a human being!

An atrocity, a suicide nail bomber, detonated to maximise the panic, massacre, and carnage as families with their children were vacating Manchester Arena, from Ariana Grande concert.

This act is beyond barbarism, it is monstrous and unholy, wicked in it targeting the most innocent and venerable. The terrorist ultimate diabolical agenda is to turn communities against each other in vengeful hate and recrimination.

The only effect method of retaliation is  to unite and identify the radical fundamentalists that are hiding within UK communities.

Thoughts are with the victims Families.

We should all unite to end the hatred and violence across the globe but not by further violence.

A thousand times this.

Please take it a bit easy people. There is nothing to indicate this attack was in any way related to any religious extremist group. It's just a crazy tragedy in a broken world.

Trying to find a solution, building confidence through trust within communities, starting with the education system.  However this cannot be achieved when beliefs are so diverse that conflicts are assured when cultures and values are so incompatible. Firstly government will need to recognize accept this.  The who/why/how is through unanimity and leadership.

The question zichi, is how the bring that cycle to an end.

The only effect method of retaliation is to unite and identify the radical fundamentalists that are hiding within UK communities.

Lots of Islamists have already been identified and put on terror lists, and the UK security authorities are continually foiling Jihadi plots.

The recent attack is something that slipped thru the cracks. There is no truly "effective method," sad to say. As Uk intelligence officials have been saying repeatedly, "It's not a matter of if, but when." As the French have said, "Get used to it." As the London mayor said, it's part of a living in a big city in this day and age, (and particularly in Europe).

You filth killed kids having a good time.  You crossed a line that can never be uncrossed.  We will never forgive you and we will never forget you.

Who are you addressing that to?

@Strangerland.  Ah, the person or persons who killed the kids.......

Segregating children based on religion isn't a good start. Reports of what has been taught in some Muslim schools and the ideas of some rather colourful guest speakers doesn't fill me with hope on the education score.

Yes. I'd just add the security services have such a long terror list they have to prioritise and there is a limit to their resources. In spite of this, they've done a very good job foiling jihadi plots.

The bombing by Daesh only serves to strengthen the resolve of people to annihilate the terrorists and their baseless evil ideology. We are reminded of their total evil, and of their lack of even the most basic intelligence of understanding the human race. More and more news organizations, political leaders and others are increasingly referring to the terror group as Daesh - a derogatory name which its members have forbidden. I hope JT will start using only the name Daesh and I hope news organizations will stop publishing messages from Daesh and other terrorist groups celebrating the terror after the attacks. Such publicity is what the terrorists desperately seek. If others agree about using Daesh I hope that they will encourage other people to use only the name Daesh.

JT please stop referring to Islamic State, there is no such thing, to continually use their self appointed status is to give them a legitimacy they do not warrant.

As others have said Daish is the better name to identify them

I'm not so young, and thought I'd become immune to this kind of thing. But the reports of parents looking for their teenage kids on what was probably one of their most wonderful days is deeply upsetting. I remember taking my son when he was about 14 to a concert in the north of England. It was a major event in my life. To see your child so pumped up is such a thrill. I can't imagine what these folks are going through.

U.S. President Donald Trump described the attack as the work of "evil losers."

That goes without saying. But what happened to your 30 day plan to crush IS?

The attack didn't happen on US soil, he meant it happens in the US. This is about Europe and their lack of will to combat and call what happened today for what it really is

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I believe the position of the right in the US is that if a liberal doesn't use the exact phrase describing terrorism that they use, then you aren't serious about terrorism. If you are on the right and dont use the phrase, that's OK, you must be serious about terrorism just by the fact that you are on the right.

And yes, Trump did say he would have a plan to defeat ISIS in 30 days, and that he is smarter than the generals. He didn't do that, but his base has been trained to shut up and switch the topic.

A prevailing aspect of human nature is a thought process that has been described as the "righting reflex". When most people see something that they feel is wrong, their thoughts reflexively go to finding ways of making it right. When we see something broken, almost instinctively, we want to fix it; or at least see it fixed.

The fly in the ointment is that, "right" and "wrong" are purely subjective concepts. A lot of people see something like this bombing as a dastardly act of cowardice, while others may have a very different view altogether. Some people see a fix for this perceived problem in enhanced law enforcement, some see the solution in advancing the idea of education and dialog with the goal of building trust and tolerance between disparate cultures. But at the same time some people feel that the fix to the problem, as they see it, is more bombs.

The history of humankind is a history of conflict and unless the world wakes up one morning and has a collective epiphany in the other direction, the trend will continue. This is one problem that defies fixing, short of human extinction.

Blowback.....our government's military/hegemonic actions, and the citizens suffer. I will agree with PTownsend here that we must get out of the region. Same thing I said on September 12, 2001. I disagree with you PT that it's "colonialist", IMO, it's hegemonic since the West has no intention of placing settlers in the ME.

Best thing we US citizens can do is STOP voting for Dems and Reps. Make it illegal to sell weapons to countries waging wars with their neighbors (Saudi Arabia, NOT Iran), replace every overseas base with a hospital and a school run by the locals.
