No help is on the way. the U.S. soldiers will fight for you like in Ukraine.

The US agreed to defend Ukraine exactly never and has agreed to help defend Taiwan for 70 years. We know our credibility would be shot if we did nothing on Taiwan. It will also be significantly easier politically to run a blockade than to deploy troops immediately to a ground battle you aren't ready for.

As per the leaked US classified documents, there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes which have invited this response, i.e. the US soldiers in Taiwan aren't just enjoying cocktails on the beach.

They are not at all ready and that’s good so. Otherwise they wouldn’t need a big propaganda mouth and big drills, but just have easily taken it already. In addition, also their soldiers aren’t such crazy to sacrifice themselves for Xi or the CCP before the country or they themselves had all a wealthy life or near prospects of it. They also want to have family, kids, a rich life, traveling around etc, but surely not to die for nothing or an ideology that isn’t even their own, but only from a few crazy communist party cronies at the very top.

The Chinese gave western intel a bonanza this past week, showing everyone how and with what they would attack Taiwan. They even have a video showing how such an attack would unfold. The west kept their gunpowder dry and showed China nothing. There is a lot of bravado on the Chinese side but they really don't know everything the US has or how the US would use the equipment they do know about. There is a whole world of black programs out there China is forced to guess at. That is deterrence gold.

If China tried to blockade Taiwan the result would be a naval war with the US the PLAN would lose, and they know that. Once the PLAN tries to go outside that first island chain into blue water they do not have air wings capable of defeating US carrier strike groups. And if they cannot seal off Taiwan their blockade fails, at considerable cost in lives and equipment. Also don't ignore how many thousands of aerial mines the USAF and Navy could put down the Taiwan Strait and across China's major seaports. The US could cut China's maritime commerce to near zero if they tried to blockade Taiwan.

Typical dumb US style “analysis”. You dont think its just a teeny bit possible that what the Chinese “revealed” as their attack plan was phoney and designed to mislead? Heard of Sun Tzu? I can assure you that the Chinese political and military leadership have.

Do you count on that helping your mainland heroes when Biden has said repeatedly it does mean direct action and China is the most hated nation in the US right now?
Enough credibility to keep our forces stationed in Japan and South Korea. The view of the subservient mainlander doesn't matter for that.
More attractive than the Chinese subservience and the Russian incompetance.
Have you seen a war the US hasn't been willing to start?
Not quite as pathetic as not being able to win a land war on our border or being forced to sit idly by while Taiwan enjoys its independence.
The only contender is China and surely you have heard of per-capita statistics?

Let me know when China has safe, potable, water provided to every faucet in the country. THAT is where China should be spending their efforts before attempting to impose their flaws onto other countries.

In the 1990s the whole world thought that helping China (PRC) get off it's economic knees would benefit the people of China and the world.
Instead we ended up with a warmongering fascist dictatorship.

If those waters are "owned" by anyone, it is the Philippines according to international rulings. The US has military agreements with the govt there.
China is trespassing.

As long as I served in the Navy the working assumption was if China tried to invade Taiwan the US would be there fighting alongside the Taiwanese. The region is resourced for that possibility with a maritime pre-positioned group in Guam loaded with enough equipment to support a division of US Army for at least a month of combat, and the Army has amphibious lift capabilities outside of the Navy to get their forces to the beach. We figured it would be a serious naval war with the Chinese on the order of what we saw in WWII. So if the Chinese make an assumption the US would not commit forces to defend Taiwan they would be making a huge and tragic mistake.

The USA does not recognize Taiwan as an independent country, and I think there are only 6/7 around the world who do. So if they did choose to defend them, who are they defending them from? It would be like Texas declaring independence, no country would recognize them...except Russia, China...etc. But if it came to a war between Texas and the USA, Texas would be on its own, very much like Taiwan will be.

You are terribly mistaken.

It is obliged to keep its people free, as it has done since 1949 when insurgents took over the mainland. If the mainland can regain its freedom from the rebels who took it over, I am sure Taiwan would be interested in rejoining a fully democratic China. Until then it is doing the right thing in protecting the freedoms of its people as a functioning independent state.
