I have to agree - and protectionism is the least of it. The US will go to war with the world someday, if they don't go to war among themselves first.

China is about a million times more protectionist than the US.

America has had enough of freeloaders, so Japan, China, UK and EU better start playing fairly or else.

China has been evolving its economy in ways that favor foreigners for over a decade and had been continuing to do so - not due to foreign pressure but due to satisfy the interests of its own evolving economy. All countries, particularly developing ones, do this. The worst way to deal with China is much like the worst way to deal with Trump: making it a sense of honor and a zero-sum game.

Trump has really screwed this up. Economists are predicting a fall in potential global economic growth of 2% next year due to Trump's short-term outlook and boorishness.

Great, one steel mill employing a few hundred people to offset the tens of thousands of jobs being lost in other sectors thanks to the tariffs. Brilliant work.

The Chinese buy US Treasuries because the Chinese earn lots and lts of US dollars in their international trade and need somewhere to park all that money, and Treasuries are one of the easiest and safest ways of doing that.

China has been evolving its economy in ways that favor foreigners for over a decade....

Like forcing foriegn automakers to be minority partners in joint-ventures with communist state-owned corporations, so those corporations can steal the foreign technology? Yeah, that's really "favorable."

Well at least China is admitting it produces cheap low quality products just a stride from junk. It is not the US building islands in the middle of water on a rock, so who is the paranoid one? hmmm seems it is China as all its neighbors just want to do business, not get in territorial disputes.

What's the unemployment rate now? Oh yeah, 3.9%, lowest since April 2000. Brilliant work.

Why does the media have to say this? The whole world already knows.

Stop buying Chinese goods, simple as that. It will put them back in the dark ages......The Chinese quietly started it.

Not being Chinese or American, I can tell you right now that it is not the Chinese who will see a targeted reduction in my spending.
