Why is the President of the United States pretty much guaranteed an acquittal? Republican Senators should only vote down a conviction if they genuinely believe the President is innocent, not because they're scared of retaliation.

Because there are No high crimes or misdemeanors of which the Dems are accusing the President of. It doesn’t fit the impeachment cause to warrant the Senate of removing him, the same as it was in 1998. There was No way on God’s green Earth that the Dems in the Senate would have ever removed Clinton and the same goes for Trump, it’ll be boring nowhere near as interesting as the OJ trial and after it’s all done and it goes to the Senate they will just reject any recommendations for removal and that will be that and then we can move on.
