South Korean protests are among the best in the world! Just look. Having probably 10 times more police than there are protesters! They are closing in on American standards.
Resonance of Melancholy
I believe less people would've been hurt if it weren't for the massive police force present!

The American Imperium will license the crushing their skulls if need be. Don't these people know that the Imperium Americana has a god-given right to be on the Korean peninsula?

Proud tradition of riots in SK. US should just leave SK and let the Koreans sort themselves out.

Aren't these being installed on a former golf course repurposed for anti-missile defense? Maybe the protesters just miss the links.

ironic how these all these so called posters talking about the US forces to get out and yet cry the loudest when things do go wrong and among the first to complain why the US didn't save them or their families. I see it as the behind the scenes Chinese snitches who want nothing more than full control of the entire Asian community where if they were in China or NK they would be shot on sight than facing a beatdown. Remember Tieneman and lest forget who camped at the doorsteps of Tibet until the day came...

So if these protesters had their way, SK would probably have no air or missile defense, and probably not even an army whatsoever. I assume you'll find some Chinese and NK fifth columnists in that crowd and you'll find them in Japan too

I suspect US agent provocateurs in the crowd. Trying to give protesters a bad name.

South Korea is a democracy now, if they don't want the Americans there then they can simply kick out like the Philippines did in the 90s. Until then, their 'right' to be there is based on a democratic mandate, so I don't see your anti-American spiel having any basis in reality.

Chinese rent-a-croud! There very active in other countries like Australia too.

So these morons just want Kim to take over, it seems.

Someone has to watch over the crazy liberals.
I lived in Seoul for a year and it always seemed like there was a protest of some kind almost every week. But I agree, NK is bad, but actually, SK can be a giant headache as well, they expect the US to protect them, but many also don't want anyone to provoke the north in any way for whatever reason. In their minds, they still think that Kim might be persuaded to engage in peaceful dialogue with the South and the only way that's going to happen is, if they completely and utterly submit to the North.

You got to love it. They only have the right to protest because the USA kept the communists out of South Korea. And, the North Korean's have no rights and live within an Orwellian nightmare because the Chinese governement kept the communists in North Korea.

@Illyas - Thank you. I get a bit tired of the anti American comments on this issue. Yes, the U.S. has done some pretty crappy stuff in the past, however at this point in time I would imagine a huge majority of South Koreans want the U.S. presence at this point in time. Also THAAD is defensive.
My dad was a Korean war vet and we used to talk about Korea alot. The Korean people (both North and South) were screwed over for a long period of time; colonized by Japan, the peninsula was split due to negotiations between the U.S.S.R. and the U.S., etc......
If the South Koreans really want the Americans out they certainly can do this, however I do not think this will happen for numerous reasons (including money and corruption)

35,000 U.S. soldiers died fighting in the Korean War defending S. Korea against N. Korea and the Chinese, not that these protesters would remember that fact.
Now many in S. Korea don't want U.S. soldiers or U.S. bases or U.S. weaponry there any longer, but, at the same time, if they ever come under attack then they'll be shouting at the U.S. to be there to stand shoulder to shoulder and defend them from thousands of miles away.
Peace is not free. There is a price to maintain it.

And don't forget internet forums everywhere.

There's nothing anti-American about questioning the motives behind a country's hegemony. Whether it's seen as benevolent or malign.
South Koreans have every right to make their voices heard, as US foreign policy affects them, as it does the rest of us.
