Ha! How is he going to do that? He's pissed off the Iranians with his backing down so much that there is no way any dialogue is going to bear any fruit.

"The situation of my family obviously has to remain as a separate humanitarian issue and it should be disconnected from all the difficulties that the two countries are facing"

That ship has sailed.

Given the release of the Americans by North Korea, Genser added, "our view is that it should be a lot easier ... to get American hostages out of Iran as compared to American hostages out of North Korea."

It should have been easier. But I doubt the Iranians are in the mood right now.

Yeah it should have been a lot easier to get the Iranian hostages out. But even a plane load of cash, release of 7 of their spies in the USA and an unsigned “deal” about nukes didn’t have enough impact.

Trump will get it done but in how long depends how much unspent obama cash they have and how many EU countries keep trading with them just to “resist Trump”

Kind of reminds me of when Abe says he's going to maximize sanctions and pressure on NK, and goes around trying to isolate them by paying other nations with our taxes, then visits the families of the abductees and says he's going to get them back.

Yeah, wishful thinking. And no, Trump had nothing to do with what's happening in North Korea - you don't expect goodwill when you bash them verbally and make counter threats. The mountain where the nuclear tests were carried out collapsed, and China (which controls 90% of NK imports) has really put on the pressure. Those are the reasons why Kim has come out of his shell. The guy occupying the White House was just at the right place at the right time. Not so lucky with Iran - he put himself in this mess (again).

What’s your solution? Oh, that’s right, the left doesn’t have any as usual.

It just aint going to happen.

Trump has new pets to play with, dont need any new toys at the moment.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Sure they do! Call Trump some names and then start talking about Russians or Stormy Daniels. That solves EVERYthing. But it’s good that they are so easily distracted, look at everything we are getting done when they aren’t looking.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Trump is not going to do anything about it because he won’t get to take credit for it, he also screwed up any chance of freeing them when he decided to scrap the deal with Iran .

I'd hate to be in their shoes based on what happened after Otto Warmbier (the young American who was so badly tortured that he returned a vegetable) was arrested in 2016 while visiting N. Korea.

Probably the best thing these families can ask for is that Trump put a lid on it, hold his tongue and ask his old friend Putin for help in getting them released.

If Trump starts getting hysterical again with the fire and fury rhetoric, I'd be very worried.

We should remember that the US is not the only nation whose citizens are being held captive. Perhaps it is time for a world wide effort to get Iran to release its unjustly held prisoners.

Trump doing something for ordinary little people for free? Miracles do happen but I can't see this A hole having a heart without a price tag on it.

Why would Trump be interested in negotiating the release of these Americans when there is no financial benefit for him?

How do you know they didn’t try behind the scenes, they might have tried, you don’t know that.

Why would Trump be interested in negotiating the release of these Americans when there is no financial benefit for him?

Yes, he just got 3 Americans released from NK, but he doesn’t want to free Americans held in Iran.......Yup, liberals as always make a lot of sense. Lol

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

SO will liberals make an except to your "muh Russia" nonsense if Trump works with Russia to get the hostages in Iran released? Or will you just add that "collusion" to the list of your precious Mueller investigation?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Trump will get it done but in how long depends how much unspent obama cash....

That "Obama cash" was money the US owed Iran. Stop talking about "plane loads of cash" like it was a freebee. Obama was able to use a debt we owed as leverage. Not a bad deal by any objective standard.

EU countries keep trading with them just to “resist Trump”

What's that supposed to mean ?

EU countries are sovereign states, not vassals to the US. They said from the start they wanted the deal to be upheld, have every right to be upset and no reason to stop their businesses.

And they are not the ones threatening allied countries.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Well guess it doesnt matter now. Chuck Schumer, the top leader of the Dems, has come out AGAINST the deal for the North Korean hostages.

He said no big deal about the release, it should be expected, its not an accomplishment of Trump or Kim, makes USA weaker, puts Americans at risk, blah blah liberal talking point, Trump attack, blah.

So I assume he feels the same way about Iranian ones. So guess he cant blame Trump for not getting the Iranian ones released. But of course he will anyway.

@bass

Only thing going on behind the scene is plotting and planning on more ways to benefit the rich and powerful so when they finish bankrupting the country they can slip out the back door and blame someone else for all their mistakes.

When I find myself a commodore of time and recall what was that revolution in Iran, what was(still is) that CIA plots with Israel against them, war of Iran-Iraq supporting Sadam Hussein, hoe much Japan lost the oil plant retreating there and replaced to Chinese and South Korean governments, etc...All of them a few decades before. Well, despite, I feel D. Trump be one of the president of USA I hate the most, he will make a streamline spot to peace treaty with North Korea and Iran and nominated Nobel Prize. OMG! That will be historical epic and it will be side by side with M. Gorbachev. All that could happen in my life time, I don't care I hate that arrogant DT. Nothing more than a peaceful smell in the air.

china released the american criminals, not trump. trump took the credit,

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Not because of Trump, but because Iran's just got terrible folks in power. I'm pretty sure the majority of American citizens are just Iranians that just happened to get citizenship in the US then took a trip home to Iran to visit families (apparantly they try to do it every year), and Tehran in it's old ways of taking hostages labelled them as "spies" just because they needed hostages.

Honestly Iran's government is all about lying to it's people and others.
