I know China was gonna arrest and detain one of more Canadians over the China's princess case but they chose an ex-diplomat. Is he someone special? I hope he will be safe and will return to Canada soon. However, Canada must not free Huawei CFO to rescue an ex-diplomat. Otherwise, it would render law ineffective against China. Each time, they break a rule and Canada detains a suspect, China will detain a Canadian to exchange for the suspect. Whatever Canada does, trading the Huawei CFO for a detained Canadian is a big no-no.

Let's see how much information China gives out on this case

We're lucky if people can even get into a Chinese court and know the evidence

We suspected something was going to happen, but I doubt any of us non-clairvoyants knew this was going to happen.

Well, I’m not surprised, this is not a surprise move by the Chinese.

Arresting a former diplomat for nothing at all is only slightly more ridiculous that arresting a non-American at Washington's request for breaching Iran sanctions through businesses dealings that had nothing to do with the United States.

More and more, I'm starting to agree with Trump and his war with China.

I am just surprised China only detained one Canadian, and I wont be surprised if they take a few American's as well!

China "took" 3 Americans last June who the Chinese admit did nothing wrong. They were trying to apply pressure on family's father to return to China for fraud charges.

Victor and Cynthia Liu, aged 19 and 27, and their mother, Sandra Han, are believed to have been refused permission by Beijing authorities to leave China, where they have been held since June.

I’m sure they’ll be more hostage taking, I mean “arrests”. Really interested to hear what kind of “crimes” this poor person committed. Maybe jaywalking.

Now all of you knew this was going to happen. I hope no one is shocked by this news.

China plays the game by their rules, just like the Soviets did during the cold war. You touch one of ours, and we will take a few of yours.

Wow, now its getting nasty.

This whole story has a smelly underside to it that is not being talked about.

When governments start vehemently standing up for particular citizens, you know somethings up.
