It is 2020, over 300 years since the Enlightenment, and yet we still have people running around committing acts of medieval savagery in the name of their Gods.

It is both tragic and pathetic.

The curse of radical islam now infects much of Europe. We need to kill off this evil strand of Islam.

the man arrived in Italy by reaching the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa on Sept. 20, and traveled to Paris on Oct 9.

The risks that arise from letting in untold numbers of young men from countries prone to religious extremism.

And the same story will repeat itself.

Because my God's better than your God? Oh, hold on...

Jesus and Mary are most venerated in that Quran you brought with you, infidel.

"The more a society is an open and democratic society, the more it is exposed to terrorism. The more a nation is free, the more it risks the massacres which . . . have taken place for so many years in Italy and in the rest of Europe."

This is why Europe, especially Italy, needs to step up its border enforcement and jail NGO members who are facilitating the journeys of such people.

Agreed. If you don't like the society and values of the country which has so generously given you refuge and support, you can just as easily return home. Tunisia is not exactly on the same level as war-torn Yemen or Afghanistan.

To a point. You don’t generally see chaos and butchery from Muslims in response to people ridiculing or satirizing Jesus or Mary. Thankfully this is the case as otherwise the body count would be horrific.

The stabbings in France or the mass shootings in the US

Not a useful comparison. Is there a common or unifying ideology behind the mass shootings in the US?

The problem here is militant Islamism. Best to stay focused on that particular problem.

‘Millions of French deserve to die’ - ex Malaysian PM.

so in his retarded thinking, it’s ok to kill innocent people in response to a cartoon publication.

Sadly, millions of muslims think the same.

Tragic attacks. The muslims or at least some of them post cartoons about Christians and Jews.

I doubt many of them fundamentalists do - depicting living things is pretty much considered sacrilegious, so there are few depictions of living things.

......the Nice suspect arrived in Lampedusa in September, spent 2 weeks on a quarantine ship in Bari and then received notice of expulsion and slipped away and over the border to France.

Let me get this right. He’s entered Italy illegally, and then in no time at all he’s in a position to do a runner to France. Not a good look whatsoever.

Islam certainly has a lot of followers willing to go out and kill someone in the name of their Religion.

Muslims kill more of each other than non muslims.

This type of criminal terrorist attack is impossible to prevent.

Is it? It does not happen in countries without mass immigration from islamic countries, and it does not happen in that tiny handful of muslim minority countries that address the issue, monitor their mosques, and explicitly prohibit political islam.

Sadly, the EU wants open borders and unlimited freedom of "religion", no matter what is covered under that label.
